With its level of sophistication, Shahrzad Sepanlou’s songs can no longer be classified as pop. In fact they don’t quite sound pop because the approach places a heavier burden on the composer than ordinary pop. There will be many places where formula fails, and the composer must have the skill to invent reassuringly so that the easy listener is not too strained by the novelty. شهرزاد ابتدا کارش را با موج غالب موسیقی لس انجلسی شروع کرد ولی بزودی خود را از این جریان غالب جدا کرد و به فعالیتهای موسیقیایی جدیتری رو آورد. کار کردن با هنرمندی مانند فرامرز اصلانی و آهنگسازی فرزین فرهادی با همه پیشینه هنریش در موسیقی جاز و همچنین ترانه سرای به نامی مانند یغما گلرویی حاکی ازنگاه متفاوت او به موسیقی و میل به پیشرفت و متفاوت کار کردن می باشد>>>

Rosvaie, or scandal, is the name of a new play by Saam Theatre Company in London. The play is the love child of the director, Sousan Farrokhnia, and actors who never had any acting experience or training before. Farrokhnia, with more than 30 years of experience in theatre, once again proved to be a master in her field, turning the female cast into professionals in less than 6 weeks. کمتر ازیک قرن ازظهوراولین خواننده زن ایرانی، قمرالملوک وزیری می گذرد. زنی که نه تنها به خاطر هنر و صدای بی بدیلش بلکه به خاطر شجاعتش در شکستن قیدها و بندهای پوسیده جامعه ستایش می شود. در سالهای بعد این اوضاع کمی بهتر شد. آشنایی و آگاهی مردم با هنرهای مختلف و ملل دیگر و آمدن رسانه های جدید رفته رفته این هنجارها را تغییرداد>>>

اینطور نبود که مثلا یک گروهی از دولت آمریکا نشستند در زیر زمین کنگرۀ آمریکا و تصمیم گرفتند که این دلقک را با آن دلقک قاطی کنند و پارازیت را تولید کنند. نه، اینطور نبود. طرحِ ایده مال ماست ، هیچ ربطی به دولت آمریکا نداره، تنها کاری که دولت آمریکا میکنه اینه که این سکو را فراهم کرده و دارد به ما حقوق میدهد، امکانات میدهد که ما بتوانیم برنامه ای را که دوست داریم اجرا کنیم. که ما البته سپاسگزاریم که این فرصت به ما داده شده>>>

بخشی از ما مردان به رشد شتابان زنان برای داشتن همه حقوقی که همیشه متعلق به ما بوده است اعتراض کردیم و سرسختانه بر ضعیف بودن و کمتر بودن قابلیت‌های ذاتی زنان اصرار ورزیدیم. برای همین تصمیم گرفتیم یا بیشتر به مذهب پناه ببریم، یا به رفتن به درون طبیعت و گذراندن اوقات زیاد با مردانی که قدر شکار و ماهیگیری و ورزش را می‌دانند خود را تسکین دهیم>>>

Yesterday my mom invited me to see a film in French that she’d heard good things about. Little did I know as I settled into my seat I was facing, not a screen, but a mirror. It’s one thing to watch a mother-child film with your mother. But it takes it to another level to watch the tale of a Middle Eastern mother’s experience with your mother -- who happens to be an immigrant from said region herself. Specifically, Incendies is about a woman whose death prompts her children to realize that maybe they didn’t know her at all>>>
