Delara's execution is postponed

by SCE Campaign on

Azadeh Azad

Thank you, David

by Azadeh Azad on

I'm more optimistic today, as there are negotiations going on between Delara's representatives and the victim's family for saving Delara at this very moment. Meanwhile, I've changed my avatar for her picture and I'm waiting to see if it appears or not.

With hope,

Azadeh

Dear Azadeh

by David ET on

It takes some time for Avatar to appear because it must be approved by the site I guess.

It did the same for me too and then showed up after an hour.

The changing of avatars to Delara is happening by so many on major  internet sites such as myspace, facebook etc.

SCE was just able to have Delara's news make it to the front page of care2, a human rights website with 10 million members!

Changing our avatars to Delara's picture for a few days

by Azadeh Azad on

I'm trying to replace my avatar with Delara's picture, to no avail. I emailed JJ to do it for me. We should all use her picture as our avatars!

With sadness,

Azadeh

now calling "celebrity" victims of Horrorwood. Who will win the Oscar? Which is the most beautiful, the most brilliant, the youngest, the freshest, the most talented..

to prove just how far iri will go

in a campaign over the past several weeks which has targeted every single group imaginable in iran for persecut5ion in carefully orchestrated ways, like a global symphony, from lawyers to workers to sufis to doctors to bahai to students to cemeteries to sufis to womens rights activists (who am i missing?) and now even the pornographers...

it's the greatest show on earth not only to terrorize iran within but also to make a challenge to obama and eu--human rights will be the LAST the VERY LAST chip we bargain and you will have to do a LOT for us before we budge..but if you reeeally want us to budge, well, guess what..we have roxana.

i am writing a blog about it, it is called who will win the oscar in horrorwood, iri?

delara, roxana, the blogger...for iri's best performance with victim with star quality.

Dear kl

by SCE Campaign on

As defined by its name Stop Child Execution only focuses on issue of child executions.

However SCE president, Nazanin Afshin-Jam does address other human rights issues such as Roxana's imprisoment in her speeches and interviews. She will be brining up Ms. Roxana Saberi's false conviction and verdict in the Geneva Human Rights Summit that she is currently attending: //iranian.com/main/blog/sce-campaign/geneva-summit-democracy-human-rights-and-tolerance

Amnesty demonstration at Iranian Embassy for Delara

by SCE Campaign on

Amnesty International members will demonstrate outside the Iranian embassy at 9am on Monday (20 April) against the scheduled execution of a young women sentenced to death for a crime committed when she was under 18 years old. Reports in the Iranian media says that she could be executed on Monday (some reports even state that the execution could be as soon as Saturday).

Delara Darabi, now aged 22, was sentenced to death in 2005. In 2003, together with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Amir, she went to a woman's house where Amir reportedly killed the woman. But Delara initially confessed to the murder, saying that Amir asked her to confess to protect him from execution - as she was under 18, they believed that she could not be sentenced to death.

Since then Delara has retracted her confession but she was sentenced to death all the same. She has been languishing in prison ever since, with some reports that she has suffered from ill-treatment.

Amnesty activists around the world are urgently campaigning to stop her execution. The organisation is urging people to take action online by emailing the Iranian authorities. More details at: www.amnesty.org.uk/delara.

WHAT: Demonstration to stop the execution of Delara Darabi
WHEN: From 9am, Monday 20 April 2009
WHERE: Iranian embassy, 16 Princes Gate, London SW7 1PT

Amnesty International UK Campaigns Director Tim Hancock said:

'Delara Darabi should not be executed. She was only a child at the time of her alleged offence.

'In the past, Iran has commuted death sentences after an international outcry, so we hope our campaign could really make a difference.  We're urging people to take action online and come to the embassy, to help us try to stop Delara's execution.

'Iran is bound by international law not to execute child offenders yet it continues to do so, leaving the country increasingly isolated as other states abandon this appalling practice.'

Iran has executed at least 42 child offenders since 1990, eight of them in 2008 and one on 21 January 2009. The execution of juvenile offenders is prohibited under international law, as stated in Article 6(5) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), to which Iran is a state party.

I still believe in life
where the smiles of colors on the body of paper
paint the words of love
with my nostalgic sentiments

I love the pulse of earth in the spring
for its blossoms have crossed the winter
to plant its flowers on the walls of my impatience

I still believe in living life
as I avoid counting the pulses
of the visiting prisoners

I despise execution of love
along the noose
above the stool of death

I adore the laughter of love
as it defines freedom
in the extension of history

I wish to embrace love
with all its colors
for it awaits the caress of my touch

I trust my hands with you
to translate kindness with words of freedom
to define the justice in my life
for the small world of my glances
under the blue sky of my colors

I am afraid of justice of Quran
on the small surface of my body
I am scared of passing the line
that ends on top the execution stool
I despise this wall of impatience
for it is hauling the word of prison

I experience Life with its words
Freedom with depth of its screams
Humanity with its kindness
War deep within its shame
Love with all its colors
Prison in the black of my eyes
Resistance in the silence of my loneliness
Peace in its spring like smiles

and I am in love with the colors of life
like the flights of birds to infinity
I am the prisoner of colors

What is the rush and benefit for killing this girl? She spent 6 years of her best years in jail, why can't they keep her longer instead of killing her?

This is not justice, this is crime against humanity.

Dear God

by A Believer (not verified) on

I pray that the family of the slain woman, would grant their forgiveness to this young woman, in the hopes that she would make a productive life for herself, and contribute in a positive way to the sociey.

One death is tragic; the second death, especially under such questionable circunstances, is abominable.

Our prayers are, that the Judiciary in Iran, would see the inconsistencies in this case, and commute her sentence,

AMEN.

IRAN PARAST

Dear Friends

by IRAN PARAST on

Please circulate this blog, and The Blog By SCE Campaign, to as many people as possible.

The only true hope that Delara has, is the full force of public pressure on the authorities in Iran, to commute her sentence.

Let's all hope and pray that it would be sufficient. Nothing in God's eyes is more repugnant than the unnecessary death of an innocent!
