Sassanian Iran and Byzantine Rome were possibly the only two empires on earth to be “hyper-powers” during late antiquity; the Greek speaking Christian Romans (or Byzantines) dominated the countries of Italy, Spain, Greece, Egypt, Syria, Asia Minor (Turkey), Armenia, western Mesopotamia (Iraq) and the Balkans. The Zoroastrian Sassanian Persians ruled an empire that included parts of India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, eastern Mesopotamia and Tajikistan. These two empires were neighbours and bordered each other from the time of their individual establishment>>>

من هم معتقدم که صد‌ها هزار و شاید اگر اغراق نباشد میلیون‌ها ایرانی به‌طور عمومی می‌دانند و بی‌شک در حین زندگی در ایران متوجه شده‌اند که بی‌حرمتی، اجحاف و حتی خشونت نسبت به زنان وطن‌شان وجودی عمیق دارد ولی شاید کاملاً نمی‌دانند این پدیده مختص ایران و شرایط اقلیمی و فرهنگی آن نیست و در حقیقت یک پدیده قدیمی جهانی است>>>

یکی از بزرگترین معضلات اجتماعی ما فعالیت بانوان در عرصه ی هنری است. به خصوص در زمینه هایی که بعد اجتماعی فراگیرتری دارد از جمله بازیگری و خوانندگی. بر خلاف عده ای از دوستان که معتقدند انقلاب باعث محدودیت بیشتر خانم ها در چنین عرصه هایی شده است من معتقدم قبل از آن چارچوب سنتی و تفکرات قرون وسطایی بعضی از مردان جامعه و در پاره ای از موارد زنان جامعه باعث این محدودیت ها شده بود>>>

Iranianism does not have a single interpretation. Pahlavi’s version was based on the ancient Achaemenid era, with its grand civilization, often symbolized by Cyrus and Darius and given the geographic moniker “Persia.” Competing with the interpretation above is the Sassanid era “Iranshar” or “Iranzamin” (empire/land of the Aryans, roots of the modern name “Iran”), just prior to the Arab invasion. The latter interpretation represents a less grandiose, and more historically accessible, picture of an era when Iranians were already monotheistic under Zoroastrianism>>>

همیشه در این اندیشه بودم که چگونه ممکن است مورچه ها له نشوند و خوب می توانم بیاد بیاورم که این سوالی که ممکن است به نظر برخی بی اهمیت بیاید چگونه در افکار من جایی برای خویش باز کرد. نشسته بودم و مورچه ها را با انگشتهایم له میکردم و از این کار در آن عالم کودکی با داستانهایی که در مغزم راجع به این حشرات بدبخت ساخته بودم لذت می بردم>>>

عکسی نشانم داد. عکس سیاه و سفید دخترکی چشم و مو سیاه که تولدش بود. پشت سر او پدرم ایستاده بود با یک زن. از این صحنه هیچ چیز یادم نمی آید جز حرف پدر که گفت این عکس توست و این زن هم مادر واقعی ات. هیچ یادم نمی آید چند ساله بودم ولی آنقدر عقل داشتم که بببینم آن دختر توی عکس من نیستم>>>
