Rather than this, why don't you explain your position on this healthcare plan that Obama is trying to push through?
Take FOX, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, talk radio and the rest of the media out of the equation, and clarify your position on the topic of health care in this country.

How can you just be all for healthcare or all against it? I think this should be a wakeup call for you all that these political parties are nothing but brainwashing jerks,be it from minions in the Fox news or the Daily Kos.Closing your mind to the left or right leave's you half a mind. It's very sad this has happened to my country. It's my opinion Osama bin Laden hurt this country by dividing it more than destroying the twin towers.

Here is some thoughts about Healthcare plan
by Abarmard on Sat Aug 29, 2009 03:38 PM PDTAs an economic theory junkie, I have conflicted views about the current proposal for health care reforms. It's a difficult issue to put it in perspective in a short comment but hopefully I try to discuss the broad ideas without any specific details that I don't know well and fail to fully grasp.
It is important to have a universal health care in any advanced societies. The most important aspect relating to the proposal is the reform factor. This allows economists and party affiliates to openly bring forth the possibilities and shortcomings of our current situation. That's very positive. Obama gets a full credit for this highly controversial issue while struggling with all the inherited problems from the past administrations. However he is not right on the money with his package.
Health care is a social issue and in this country many ideologies that relate to social concerns are pushed towards the market to get solved. However, as market is perfect, from the economic ideologies based on capitalism, and it fixes itself, it requires regulations to do so, which is the government. It's a contradictory ideology that has separated the parties to decide the possible direction in order to fix social concerns.
The current health care proposal doesn’t involve cutting costs. It provides a road map in resolving the healthcare concerns of the nation. That’s another positive initiative from President Obama. He is not doing this giant step for his own gain since it will not give any results while he is in office. No president dares to do so. I admire President Obama greatly for his guts.
As mentioned before, not having cut in the cost creates an unknown region that market is not too comfortable with. One assumption is that most of those who do not have health care are younger generation who don’t see themselves as getting sick. Bringing those individuals in the medical plans would certainly boost the funds of the insurance companies. On the other hand, there is a huge cost based on capital and shortage of doctors that is related by the sudden increase of the recipients.
One must keep in mind that “let the market decide” factor has many fallacies in the argument and that many social concerns cannot be put in the market criteria. Although the market has a possible answer for any dilemmas, most of the social scenarios won’t allow the market to function properly without a direct government involvement. At this point, many flaws exist in the healthcare plan but the fact is that once the plan is in place the change of the proposal is expected. We need to have a platform to follow and make it better as we realize the shortcomings.
In short, I would agree with the argument that healthcare reform is a must for our advance nation, yet the details must be brought about and discussed with clarity and honesty. The idea to attack this plan, to call our president Obama a communist, foreigner, or the enemy of capitalism is just horrible. The scare tactics used by some extremists are sickening and most unfortunate.

by Abarmard on Sat Aug 29, 2009 02:12 PM PDTNeither side, be it Republicans or Democrats have it totally right, but to go fanatic in either direction is a bit, crazy. The issue is that no one here can convince the other party to their views. But there is something called a good advice, and here it is:
Don't listen to those who promote hate propaganda to separate and divide the unity of the nation. Although it does serve positively in the short run, in the long run will have great negative consequences. The popularity of Rush and Gelnn along with their extreme right wing followers is alarming to say the least.
Most probably, the system will filter the extremists and parties will move to the center gradually.
OK so beck is not a REPUBLICAN
by Q on Sat Aug 29, 2009 02:06 PM PDTI apologized to decent republicans if I attached their name to Glenn Beck needlessly, maybe the headline should say "Stupid FOX tricks".
proud american: You speak as though there is competition in health care right now. Isn't Capitalism supposed to LOWER prices? Why is it that in the declining regulatory environments of the past 20 years, the prices have always risen? And not just the costs (which also should be lowering.)
So maybe what you're defending isn't really capitalism but mis-named capitalism so that people like you would think it's kosher. In a back-ass way, Glenn had a point in calling it an oligarchy. That's exactly what the insurance companies are.
Any rational thought out there?
by slyfork on Sat Aug 29, 2009 02:03 PM PDTHow many of your forefathers fought and died for the liberty we have always enjoyed in America? You might have never been born and/or allowed to walk the streets in this country without the freedom fighters of yesteryear who lost their lives at Normandy and Iwo Jima. By the way, how are you enjoying the change so far? Why don't we pay attention to the facts and dispense with the name calling and useless dialogue.
A simple observation.
by proudamerican on Sun Aug 30, 2009 12:24 AM PDTI am taken back by the point-of-view shared by SOME here. I am a avid listener of Glenn Beck due to his unmistakable prowess for Constitutional upholding. I believe that Glenn Beck has made commendable efforts toward revealing the Obama administration and the unsavory ties it has to extremists and their anti-capitalist and unconstitutional beliefs. Now as the nation rises against this threat of Socialist behavior the fodder for arguments against Glenn Beck just regurgitates the same shallow thinking and frustration shared by the Constitutionally illiterate and power hungry. Healthcare has never, nor should ever be, an instrument of government power. Not to mention retirement, taxes, interstate commerce, international commerce, the list goes on and on and on and on. We as a nation since the BEGINNING have had to wrestle with the idea that the government should be our saving grace. No real American who has earned everything they have will ever give into this sort of ludicrous endoctrination. The government was designed as a military command...judicial interpreter...and a forum for all of the congress to debate what the people want done. Roads-that's good(the Interstates), Military funding-that's fine, enforcing boader security-GREAT!, interpreting the Constitution-SUPER! But anyone with half a brain-wave can see that the present is all well beyond what our Founding Fathers had written. Now for ONE-HUNDRED YEARS the government deliberately turned its back on these precious documents. These powers were originally given to the States.
To be fair, I agree that medical care has turned into the same rogue beast the national government has solidified itself into, demonstrating how the money and power trail fits HAND-IN-HAND. All that Glenn Beck has ever said is that the government has no authority in this, this is not American. As these Czars are appointed to every corner of the free-market system Obama clearly will use this as a catalyst for capitalist control. People outside of America do not understand the value of FREE-market systems and private enterprise because they are use to being okay with what the government deems as their own. In America the freedom of private enterprise gives a distinct advantage in personal wealth from simple hard work and engenuity. So as America has raised the bar in Capitalism now we can all share in the benefits of DIVERSE COMPETITION.
Now as you little unconstructive bloggers sit here and tear down my words I plead one thing as I know you do not owe me anything. Take a moment to think about the hundreds of thousands of good Americans who so bravely left their family and life behind, to go die fighting against the evil of this world. To feed and cloath the weak. To give them refuge...and give them a chance at free life. You can agree with Hitler too! That is the freedom I enjoy every single day. And the freedom that Americans and only Americans have built a World power on.
ALWAYS AND FOREVER MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ITS GOD FEARING PEOPLE.

...Ignorance is like a weed.
by vildemose on Sat Aug 29, 2009 10:51 AM PDT...Ignorance is like a weed. It spreads vigorously and threatens the existence of other beneficial plants. Ignorance is succeeding in Iran, where, between the propaganda-susceptible uneducated and the fundamentalist hardliners, the humanists and educated find themselves unable to act to improve the lives of the average citizen.
The lesson here is the parallel in the US. Not only are our ignorance weeds sprouting all over, but right wing talkers spread their BS which acts as a fertilizer. Our fundamentalist 'Ayatollahs' like Glen Beck spread fear and hatred of abortion providers, socialized medicine, gays and even rational thought and scientific inquiry.
Even if we find it impossible to affect events in Iran, we owe it to our country to stop our regressive slide into a violent, hateful future.""
