Heading back home

I arrived in Berlin this afternoon from London. My flight to San Francisco via Amsterdam is at 6 in the morning, about 7 hours from now. I'm staying at a youth hostel. It's 15 Euros ($22?) a night for a bed in a room shared with six others -- plus 3 Euros for blankets!

It was a really nice trip: three weeks in Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Nice and London. I have a new appreciation for Europe and I will definitely be back. I have thought about moving here, but I'm a little worried that I might regret it.

My place in Albany, half an hour from San Francisco, is comfortable and I'm surrounded by good friends in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Still the thought of going to another country for a year or two is tempting. Bebeenam chi misheh...

I'll be awake for a few more hours, sitting in the hostel bar, drinking a beer and working on the site.

If you have any questions about the site or... I'd be happy to respond.

Sorry, what did I say?

by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on

Again folks, I am sorry for having multiple names. I know that I may have an identity crisis, but believe me it's Kourosh.

I promise not to have multiple comments by multiple names anymore. Please don't go around leaving comments across the site about this issue. Thanks !!

Rosie, trust me, this is Kourosh :)

Rosie T.

That's funny Koroush...(or rather, Koroushes)

by Rosie T. on

because here we are on JJ's blog and that's where our whole conversation started and he could not apologize and neither can you (if in fact this "no apology" post does come from you...) and yet you teach each other Persian, you and our Fearless Leader, right here on this website womb/wound.  And I just watch and "pray with my legs", as you say.....and whatever other parts of me come in handy.  Which is all of me actually. One's whole life can be seen as one large prayer if one chooses to envisage it that way.

Now I found the first apology post questionable not because of the apologizing which I believe you could well do, but because it is not in your inimitable literary style.  And...

And, who knows whether the NEXT post, the non-apology one, the one I'm ostenibly replying to, is you either.  It's closer in tone but definitely NOT vintage Sasssanian.  and the smiley-face...well, let's not even go there.

So you see, despite not suiting you, Koroush,  this chicken iavatar s becoming VERY problematic. Because now anyone and everyone can BE you  and many seem to want to.  Which would seem to corroborate Koroush's OTHER post further below which is DEFINITELY unquestionably him and in which he has so thoughtfully explained himself for the readers:

"I have said this before, I am you, I am your fears, your desires, your hatred, your history, your friend, your nemesis, your neighbor - well, you get the picture! "

I think Koroush is the dark side of the Simorgh, the one Attar didn't talk about, he's your dark mirror...and we MUST know the mirror AS the mirror, and so, Koroush, despite its noble lineage as an avatar of Ahura Mazda with the Yarsani practice of worshiping its cocking at the rise of the sun...the chicken avatar must go. And so you must register, then your name is protected, And write the porne-narm so dear to your soul as literature as we spoke of. And you will feel better, as will many readers, although they won't admit it...because it will be GOOD porne narm...and you won't be so bothered about alis and hosseins and mohammads...who...some of them....will secretly....like your writing too..

Sorry, what did you say!

by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on

Mr. Raoof, thank you for your thoughts, but I would not slap you or do you with my dog's member. I do wish you luck in finding yourself. Everyone here knows I don't apologize moron, but nice try on posting under my name. You must ali, hossein or mohammad! :)

Now, boro bacheh naneh! You can post under my name again, but everyone will know after this post it's you!

It is great to see . . .

by Ostad Raoof (not verified) on

This is real growth for Kouroush. I am glad he has apologized. I must admit I have a secret crush on him and would definitly allow him to slap me and call me Susan.

P.S. boos bedeh boss bedeh!

I would like to apologize ..

by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on

to all those that I have "offended" in the past couple of weeks. I have had a bad habit of using different names and different postings out of my insecurity. Some comments were rather nasty.
.
Bahmani (//iranian.com/main/blog/bahmani/we-certai...) and some of the others exposed this, and I am really sorry about that.
.
I will try not to repeat that. Please be patient with me :) Tks

After further review

by Ostad Raoof (not verified) on

I have looked at Kouroush Sassanian's posts again on this site. I no longer believe he uses multiple names. I have a difficult time following his thoughts. I want to apologize to him. I still hope he seeks professional help. I did during a difficult time in my life and it helped.

To "benevolent" (regarding Kourosh Sassanian)

by Ostad Raoof (not verified) on

I agree with your analysis of Kourosh Sassanian. He does need Professional help. I read today in Bahmani's Blog: //iranian.com/main/blog/bahmani/we-certai... that he uses multiple names throughout the site. Several people had identified his different names.

Make a move

by kimia on

kimia yar

Hi JJ.  From all your writings and life experiences which I have read; it seems that you are a type who needs to move to another location in order to bring a positive side of  you out?!

Yes we do live in the most beautiful place on earth, yet it seems like you are searching for more THE TRUTH!! don't know; but life is short and why not.  You should live in another place.  It will add to your adventure and experiences.  and you have no real ties, your daughter can always visit you.  Go for it.  If I had a choice I would do it and live somewhere in Italy or Spain for one or two years. Just think of it like a long long vacation.

Rosie and other exceptional people here.

by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on

I think there are more Rosies here than not, they are silent, but they are listening. I am here more for the non-rosies. You know tough-love! I would never want to fall into Group-think!:)

We have all expriened different degrees of loss, but having lived in Iran under the IRI yoke - our losses are more!

You people are so literal [non-figurative sense]!

by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on

I just described the entire nation of Iran for the last 30 years. Did anyone take creative writing? My poem describes the people of Iran, seeking the comfort and peace of a bygone time.

I have said this before, I am you, I am your fears, your desires, your hatred, your history, your friend, your nemesus, your neighbor - well, you get the picture!

Clearly, some of you get it - Rosie, see I did not use foul language and they advocate professional help! I think I may have to go back to my other style of writing.

You are correct Iran needs professional help! I suppose we all do having lived under the IRI's yoke!

JJ, I trust you had a pleasant flight! You do live in a beautiful area!

Mokhless!

You know, Koroush . / PS JJ

by Rosie T. on

we met on JJ's thread, Daughter of the Revolution, and at that time you could not forgive and that was the beginning of our dialog.  And now it seems we have come full-circle. And as you know, it's been quite a day for me.  The reconciliation that began on th Israel blog made this one of the happiest days of my life. I felt at times on that thread that I was on a dakhmah being eaten by crows of both sides. But it was worth it.

Later however I experienced grief and so, the world spins in its eternal dance with dark and light.   I've written previously about the need to fully grieve the losses of those long decades ago but one can never do so until one is fully ready.  It is true, the stages overlap, and they also take the time they take.  Zamaan zamin. But I am here with you, and others are as well.

The problem has never been your language but the vitriole it conveyed. So never forget that mad Azeri Shia boy who carved an Iran out of rubble, you of Shah Ishmail's Seven Tribes.. The false dichotomy that plagues the nation must immediately cease.  Open the sunroof, stand up and face the people, ALL of them, and whatever the Light of Truth brings. .Peerless, fearless, binazir.

Zire shamshire ghamesh raqs konaan bayaad raft. Water your dead and grow a new world.  It is the only way you can honor them.  Remove your hijab.  All your hijabs.  Stand up Iran and dance.

Now move your bloody fucking ass and go get yourself registered. The chicken logo doesn't suit you, and also you must publish. And then, stop by my blogspace and contact me. There's so much you could teach this ersatz Daughter of Persia.

Gorbaanat beravam (I go as your sacrifice),

Esther

PS JJ, I see Koroush is giving you Persian lessons.  I think it's marvelous.  Truth and reconciliation, as I often say....

JJ, Here's what I know about

by LostIdentity (not verified) on

JJ, Here's what I know about life in Europe plus your own assessed values:
Pros:
- Classy people
- More political, global awareness
- More Liberal social atmosphere
- Life appreciation is more
- Less work (No dog work)
- Closer to vatan
- More culture
- New places to go (Life is not boring)

Cons:
- You are considered Alien (They treat foreainers like a dirt)=> God bless America;
- You will never be accepted as a true citizen
- Too expensive
- Everthing is "minisized"; Smaller food portions served in Cafe and restaurants
- weather is nasty compared to N. CA
- you will need to educate yourself how to behave like Europeans; (this is very critical)

If I was you, I would make the move. I believe every move brings new opportunities for good.

Peace;

by benevolent (not verified) on

Kourosh have you ever gotten professional help?
If you have NOT, you really NEED TO.
Your terrible suffering in the past has really affected you. Believe me I don't mean this in a nasty way... you need to get some professional help from doctors. Your problem will not resolve by itself. I truly mean it.
You have already waited 30 years and this is how you feel.
If you want to turn around and use swear words ... I don't care...(you'll probably get deleted) just get some help. Muslim bashing will not heal your deep wounds. You need professional help but don't realize it.

Leng = Legs
Doa = Pray

Rosie is devoted to civility - some pray with their hands raised toward the heavens for their desired goals - some pray with their legs or both!

As I said before, my choice of words I employ will never be silenced. They will come and stay, go and return.

Foul language is an absolute necessity in communicating in every language. Ours or English is no exception. For example, nothing conveys better ones desire to express ones anger about a friend who is always late to a meeting, to wit: Kiram tou rouhet baba, baz der omadee! You could, of course, say the same to simply tease your friend!

Of course, the whole reference to leng va doa also creates a vision that has so many hidden or apparent meanings. Imagination Galore, baba!!!

Now moving on to this site and you!

You see some 30 years ago I exprienced much death and loss at the hands of agents of the IRI. I have gone through the 5 stages death/loss. You may be aware of them, if not here they are:

Denial
Bargaining
Anger
Despair
Acceptance

One would think that 30 years is enough to have completed the 5 stages. Well, I have completed the 5 stages, however, I relive them over and over again. They don't necessarily come in the order listed above.

This site, issues revolving around the cause of my loss, Islam, muslims seem to weave in and out of those 5 stages.

Mist has blanketed the desert, I am shivering cold all over … I figured if the mist remained like till day it would evaporate with the morning glory,

Mist has blanketed the desert of our soul, all over - searching but stepping over and over the same steps,

I see the village lights from here, walking, crawling to reach the warmth of those rugs, hearing the purring of the kettle, smelling the musky motakah, her wrinkled hands pulls the lahaf over my lost body.

I hope we can find peace together, for there has been much loss - maybe, maybe . . .

Yeah... KS and all others

by just a suggestion (not verified) on

Yeah... KS and all others who want to write Persian with the English alphabet.
Please try and spell your words right!
I've seen it numerous times that people (including Koorosh S) use 'oo' instead of 'o' or vice versa, and other almost unrecognizable spellings.
If you don't mind people not understanding what you are trying to say... well... that's just fine, if not, then you need to pay more attention to the "fargelisi" words!
As one example that I remember you had written "poorn narm"... somewhere.
When you explained later, I realized you had meant" porn e narm..." = soft porn!
There have been lots of others and not just by you!
It takes the deciphering out of the lines!

Thanks Rosie,

But if I was Kouroush, I would not want to be reminded about the foul language. If he has changed, that's good... let him be. He's not a kid :o)

Thank you for all your contributions in conducting very good and intelligent discussions.

I'm listening. Dar in boMbast, dar in sandbaaq , I'm listening....

but you DO have to stop the Muslim-bashing. Remember Shah Ismail and the Seven Tribes.

Hey, jj, hope you had a great trip. Koroush has been inspired lately to watch his foul language on our lovely pristine website and I am trying to get him to stop playing Aryans and Lizard Eaters. It is a challenge but I do my best....

Come back safe and sound so we can bug you more. Actually, I know nothing is taken seriously or is sacred in this Sandbox, but come back to change the sand. I am beginning to stink up the area, if I have not done so already.

George Washington did defeat a poorly equiped British force in NJ on this day in 1777. But,who is listening.

JJ, Do not even think about

by Poor Student! (not verified) on

JJ,
Do not even think about it; Living there is very very different from visiting! People are cold and ignorant in general. Belive me; just go one hout north of London and you will see people do not know who was John Major! I hate this sterotyping about Europe that people are intelectual and US is this and that. If you compare San Frncisco or New York with London US is much better. Please compare Bedfors, Luton, ... with Midwest; then you will find out Midwest is much much better!

Disorientation

by Jahanshah Javid on

Hi not-so-anonymous fan,

Since when is disorientation an attractive quality in a man? I was just having a conversation with a woman yesterday who said a man should be a man... someone who knows what he's doing, gives a sense of security and protection. All I do is create insecurity and mess up anything that has a sense of stability... if I was a woman, I would head for zee hills...
