An interview by Islamic Republic's State TV Press TV of Historian Academic Marvin Zonis author of "Majestic Failure: The Fall of the Shah". He talks of his pre-Revolution Iran experience and describes the Shah as essentially a "weak man". (Date 01- 10- 2010)

Professor Marvin Zonis has spent at least 60 years studying the volatile mix of Islam, terrorism and the Middle East. He is the former head of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago. He studied Islam in Iraq in the beginning of 1964, and has travelled extensively throughout other parts of the region.

He hitchhiked through Afghanistan in the early 60s and arrived in Iran in 1963, right after the fall out of the white revolution, during the time when Ayatollah Khomeini was arrested and exiled.

In an exclusive interview with Press TV's Lion and Eagle program, Zonis explains his interesting memories, including his meetings with the Shah, and many other personalities of the Pahlvi regime.

Marvin Zonis is a professor emeritus at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he teaches courses on International Political Economy, Leadership, and Business Strategy in the Era of E-Commerce. He also heads Marvin Zonis + Associates, Inc., political risk consultants. The firm works with corporations and professional asset management firms throughout the world to help them identify, assess, and manage their political risks in the constantly changing global environment. In short, he is a global political economist.
