Who is فردوس?

I think he meant Far-doost. My limited information is that he was a school friend of the Shah who ran or was a big wig at SAVAK, who threw in his support to the revelotionaries.

"My heart beats heavily when I see the ocean of beautiful poeple, the men of honor and determination, the women of modesty and principle... all before there ever existed an "Islamic Republic" or any power to "oppress" people into these exact scenes"

Hope you don't end up with a stroke with your heart beating so heavily! rest assured kiddo that these scenes will not be repeated ever ever again because mullahs are not the weak hesitant Shah, they will crush each and every single one of the would-be protestors into oblivion and YOU KNOW IT.

Consider this

by BK (not verified) on

Whether what happened in 1979 was right or wrong, it's history, gone, finished. So accept it and move on.

The greater calamity isn't what actions people should or should not have taken in 1979. The greater calamity is the actions that people are not taking in 2009.

At least in 1979 one could argue that many people didn't know any better. For one thing they didn’t have the benefit of hindsight. What excuses could we possibly have now?

we didnt simply know

by Shahrokh from suisse (not verified) on

Dear Ariobarzan,
We simply didnt know.
In fact I dont think anybody knew.
I only know 1979 nobody wanted the Shah anymore...nobody.
Not the Islamist nor comunist nor reformist nor CIA Musad, M16 nor KGB.
Everybody had his own ideas of Iran.
I was 13 years old and I demonstrated against the Shah. I am an Iranian nationalist and proud of our great history but I demonstrated against the Shah and I am proud of it. I demonstrated for Freedom and equality for all Iranian, moslem jews Bahais christs, Kurds, turks for all. I demonstrated for a better future and justice for all.
I demonstrated because even I knew of the corruption of the goverment
IT WAS NOT an act of treason or betrayal
The revolution was a legimate answer to the corruption and two class society that the monarcy
has created and our beloved Shah was not able nor willing to change it.
That was the biggest treason of all.
The beautiful, modern and advance society that the Shah has created was just a beautiful face but nothing behind it and just for a small portion of the society... only the rich.
That was the biggest treason and betryal.
Have you ever gone to a village just 100 km from tehran before the revolution.
No water, no electricity no school nothing.
Do you think the greatest Leader in the middle east and Nr. 1 producer of Oil could not solve these problems.

Yes we lost a big chunk of our identity and became a pseudo Arab, pseudo Moslem..which are even hated by the Arabs. No offence to Arabs.

But it is not all so negative as you see.
The children of iran are making huge advances in all fields ...inspite of all the hardship that this retarted goverment is creating.
It is a tough time but we will make it and we will be more proud of our country in the years to come
I SEE THE GREAT IRAN emerging from the dust not very far from now.
As we all know
The History will punish the fools and ignorants
It is just a matter of time.

My God bless you all

Payande Iran

Thank You, brings back great memories

by Q on

The Iranian nation stood with one voice and reversed the course of history. Iran's was the last great people-powered revolution and nothing can ever take that away from us.

My heart beats heavily when I see the ocean of beautiful poeple, the men of honor and determination, the women of modesty and principle... all before there ever existed an "Islamic Republic" or any power to "oppress" people into these exact scenes.

An act of Ultimate Stupidity

by Areyo Barzan (not verified) on

by a nation who committed the bigest mass suicide of all times

I wonder if those who lined the streets in those days knew that in less than 25 years their daughters would be sold in the slave markets established in the basements of Dubai's hotel to serve as sex toys to arab bustards, or that over 3 million of their children would become drug addicts. I wonder if they knew that in less than 25 years time inspite of their vast national wealth, over 60% of them would be living under poverty, line even by IRI's standards and the most basic essentials of life like food shelter and education would be an unreachable luxury for them, while their oil money is being shiped to Canada, Dubai, Sirya, Lebanon or Gaza. I wonder if that woman in picture 5 knew that in less than 5 years time she and her right would be reduced to a sub-humanic level and she would be forced to wear veil and accept poligamy as a fact of life, or the fact that all her liberty and rights would be reduced to half that of a man. I wonder if those who were carrying Khomeini’s picture knew that in less than 10 years time he will order the mass execution of them all and in one night alone over 4000 of them would be put in front of fire squads all over the country. I wonder if those university girls knew that in less than 3 years time the Islamic fascists would rape them the night before the execution to make sure that they would not die a virgin and won’t make it to heaven.

:-) Kaaram az gerye gozasht-ast bedaan mikhandam

I wonder if they knew that the country that was one day the Islandof stability in a termoiled region and Jandarm of The Middle East would become so weak and corrupt that even a little island called Dubai attempts to compromise its integrity by attempting to change the name of Persian Gulf or puting an illegitimate claim on her three Iranian islands.

I have no words express the monumental stupidity selfishness and arrogance shown our parents or the previus generation. But I Know this much that we will never forgive them for their act of treason and betrayal.

Furthermore we are more than determined to put right what was wronged by them and get rid of this fascist regime once and for all.

Yes...that was my fist, that was my voice,...my town, my street and that was my brother and my friend who died on the street.

It was my time, my era and my movement. What fed the roots of this horrible revolution.

I knew not what I was doing...I knew not what was to become of my street, my town, my country...my home. I did not know.

I wish I could be there again, I would do it differently.
