US gun attack at Batman premiere (bbc)

Many casualties have been reported after a shooting at a Batman film premiere in the US city of Denver.

Police said 30 to 40 people had been injured in the incident, Colorado state's 850 KOA radio reported.

A reporter for the 9News website at the scene says a gunman opened fire at the movie cinema complex in Aurora, where three theatres had a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

Witnesses said someone wearing a gas mask opened fire.

There were also reports of a lot of smoke.

Reuters news agency quoted a local reporter saying 10 people had died, but this is unconfirmed.

Guns forever

by Kamran Ramyar on

Bravo Mr. Moshiri.  I am with you all the way buddy.  Perhaps he should add the following to his blog....Does anyone object to practically every Swiss household having a gun?  Afterall, aren't Swiss the most civilized society on this planet???!!  Or how about this...If Kasravi had a gun perhaps he could save and/or defend himself from being assisinated!

Funny story. Many, many

by Sargord Pirouz on

Funny story. Many, many years ago, during the mid Pahlavi years, somehow- nobody knows quite how- but the family had in its possession an old Maxim heavy machine gun!

There was a debate on what to do with the thing, given the general gun ban in Iran. My dad- who was normally very anti-gun, wanted the thing- he said- for historical reasons (although I think the real reason was he thought it could be sold for big bucks).

Saner heads prevailed and the family got rid of it- who knows how.
