Aryan-Envy and the three phases of Iranian psychosis
by Shazde Asdola Mirza

The Aryan-Envy has often resulted in a cycle of neurotic behavior for us Iranians.

·  First phase is the delusion of grandeur – hallucinating that we actually are blond and blue eyed Aryans, the master race, the Übermensch (Abarmard).

·  Second phase is confusion and self hatred, when we realize that we aren’t recognized so by the outside world.

·  Third phase is hatred towards the uncaring blond blue-eyes, who have surely somehow by conspiracies “have eaten our HAGH”.

Shah’s cronies were mostly stuck in phase 1. They performed a chimp-like imitation of the West, without understanding its strengths and merits; afflicted with the so called Westoxication.

Many young Iranians, who had a more competitive encounter with the Westerners e.g. while studying in the university, went through the second phase or the identity crisis. But the majority of those self-haters soon projected their low self-esteem (Irani Hich Gohi Nist) outwards and started to hate the West, as the source of all evil conspiracies which has kept Iran down.

I happened to know quite a number of idiots, many of them sons of the Imperial Iran’s army colonels and generals, who adamantly thought (and were actually taught) that we were Aryans, just like the Germans! Their stupid fathers had cheered for Hitler during the 2nd WW, and sincerely believed that Iran would be a Persian paradise again by killing all the camels (as Reza Shah did).

Almost all of those same idiots first turned into characterless, spiritless junkies or self-haters, when they made contact with the American society. But soon enough, most of them “evolved” to become fiery Hezbollah or Communist! Not surprisingly, right now Ahmaghi-Nezhad and his messianic cult warriors have turned out to be the #1 proponents of Persian nationalistic glory!

If the Iranian males only spend a bit more time in front of the “historical mirror”, we won’t have to attack the movie 300 or the Prince of Persia, for depicting us as darkies. Hellooooo, Persians were darkies. Don’t just take my word for it – go look at the pure Parsi of South Asia or Zoroastrians of Yazd! I’m not even mentioning the zillions of mixings with the Arabs, the Greeks and the Turks.

The blue and blonde North Europeans were the scum of earth some 1500 years ago. They looked in the mirror, found the truth about themselves and moved on. They figured that it was OK to be a mingled mixture of Anglo, German, Norman, Saxon and Dane as long as they could put one foot in front of the other and progress. Now, they consider their barbaric past as the Dark Ages, but for our crippled retards, ancient history is the Golden Age!

i enjoyed your piece shazdeh.  of course one can add to the list.  i do think that there are appropriate debates with regard to iranians and aryans; however, not as a reason to prove superiority, purity, or wanting to belong to a club.

boom and samsam, gentlemen, this is satire not a researched academic paper.  who said you have bushy eyebrows over your eyes?  shazdeh is merely using mockery and generalization of certain beliefs (or phases) that are generally considered foolish.   in that, i think he succeeded.

you done it again and opened up another can of Aryan worms ;-)

I would like to make the following corrections though. The fact is if it wasn't for the damn Iranian weather and the scorching desert Sun in the last 1500 years we would be still blonds and blue eyed people. I Hate The Sun; since she is blond and conspiring with the British against us.

Also we learn in 5th grade that Neanderthals lived in the area currently called Middle-East and the Caucasus and died out 30k plus years ago. This can’t be farther from the truth, in fact they did not die out, they migrated to Iran plateau as Aryans and mostly settled in Tehran area, you say impossible? Lets get naked (male and female) what do we see in the mirror? pure Pashm! For that reason I also hate Homoerectus (modern humans) they are conspiring with the Sun, the British and the Americans and using our Pashm against us, the true Iranian-Aryan Neanderthals. The Chosen-Ones ;-)

But on a more serious note, I’d like to refer all of us Aryans to this old Iranian proverb:

"You say, your father was a wise and scholar (Faazel) man, but you have not inherited none of that wisdom (Fazilat) from your father" or in short, we need to grow up!

Another Gin & Tonic induced post with Parsophobia.. hiihi :)

by SamSamIIII on

Baba, easy on ....! . As Boomerang pointed out, this jiberish post rather than proving anything about Iranian entity is more of a testament to reverse self inferiority racial complex of the blogger himself who is hung up too long on race issue. Aryeh/Iranian legacy is made up of many many components which race in this time & age is but a irrelevent fraction of the big picture after many centuries of assimilation. Yet, since he brings out race issue & insists on proving his ignorance on factual social/historical elements such as equating all Iranians as Persians & hence choosing Persians as his punching bag in effect shows his own parsophobic hangup. we should also note that Persians were but one ethnic migrant group among the one dozen indoeuropran tribes(medes,Saka,Parthian..etc) who settled in Iran & mingled with native Iranians such as Ilamytes, Thamimi Arabs, Khuz.etc.

"Parsis of India.."

Boomerang made corrections already.

"Yazd Zorostrians.."

If the writer had taken the time to research his material he would find out that majority of yet very small & diminishing Zorostrians of Yazd are in fact returnee Parsi zorostrians of India who migrated back to proper Iran during 16th & 17th century Moghul & Maratha empires in sothern India & thus the darker features.. So in fact if one wants for what ever purpose find the so called genetic face of Iranians one has to look at the Yazdi muslims whom majority of them are recent converts from Zorostrianism to Shia during Safavid rule shiazation period. During this period a lotta Zorostrians chose Muslim names and the noble class in order to get close to centres of power chose the term "Seyed" for themselves(as was the case in Kerman,Hamadan..etc). Fair featured Seyed Mohammad khattami is most probably descendent of the unique group of Zorostrian nobles who chose the term Seyed for themselves for class purposes. So Ironicaly nowadays Seyeds are geneticaly(not necessarily culturaly) are the closest to classic generations of Iranians. Just take a look at Seyed M.Beheshti(blonde & blue eyed), Seyed M.Yazdi, I might blog about this on another occasion.

"Persians are darkies...."

Once again, in modern Iran there is no such specific race as Persians but the linguistic group of Persian/Farsi speakers which as such are made up of rainbow of dark, oriental & fair featured tribal groups.

Finally, to put down heritage of different ethnic groups of Iran be it Lurs & Kurds(barbarians) or Persians(Aryan envy losers) speaks volumes about the bloggers racist phobia.

& I agree this blog is good material for a mediocre comic piece.

Mehman

The illusion of racial superiority

by Mehman on

Racism and the illusion of racial superiority are the roots of great evils.

A race who predominates the world in a certain era of world history might hiddenly attribute its glory to the superiority of its race and genes over other races of humanity.

But in fact the causes of its glory lie in other factors like economic decisions, geo-political conditions and the smart use of ancient ideas together with courage and systematic work.

The glorious race often forgets that it did not have so much 'glory' in a conspicuous period of the past and that some 'other' races of humanity were doing much better than him in certain phases of history.

Humanity with all its colors and races are all from ONE root. We are all the good children of the same apes who transformed to Hominoids in Africa during a several million-year process of evolution and then gradually spread all over the Earth.

Racism and the illusion of racial superiority are signs of the weak mind full of bigotry and psychological complexes and a prime source of social prejudices.

Dear Shazdeh, although there are some points in your article that are arguable, but in general you had a good attempt at exposing racism and the absurd illusion of racial superiority prevalent among a very few number of our countrymen.

One more thing,

by Boomerang on

"Hellooooo, Persians were darkies. Don’t just take my word for it – go look at the pure Parsi of South Asia..."

Shazde, if you knew one thing about the "Parsis" of South Asia and their physical make-up, you wouldn't lampoon your rear-end off like a total idiot. The Parsis, after arriving in India, following the Arab invasion of Iran, were ruthlessly subjected by the ruling Dravidians to ethnic mixing with the dark natives, because the new arrivals from Iran were lighter in skin color, and if you know ANYTHING about Indian culture, you'd know that they have a preference for light-skinned mates (almost an obsession, dwarfing our complex). This is true to this day where light-skinned women are far more preferred in India than dark skinned women.

So, the Parsis are not nearly as "PURE" as you think they are, and as such, do not provide you with much corroborating evidence to make your absurd conclusions. So do us all a favor, dear Shazde, and "spend a bit more time in front of the historical mirror,” and maybe then you won't write these highly subjective, irrelevant and non-factual fluff pieces.

Iran is a prisoner of IRI

Boomerang

Shazde, you're losing it, bro.

by Boomerang on

There are so many outlandish assumptions and conclusions in this piece that it would take too much time to answer each fallacy. Suffice it to say I think you're trying to be funny as Sargord BitterQajar says, but let me just address these few points...

"First phase is the delusion of grandeur – hallucinating that we actually are blond and blue eyed Aryans."

Who the hell hallucinates such an absurd thing? This is lazy writing at best. Even the proponents of Persian Aryan theory, those who have reviewed a page or two of history don't hallucinate about being "blond and blue eyed." Those features are a cause of the enviornment/climate, not race. Africans are dark-skinned to protect against the sun, pigmentation being nature's sun screen, whereas the British, for example, are fair skinned because they receive little-to-no sun in their lands.

No one says that Cyrus the Great was "blond and blue-eyed," even though he clearly claims in his clay relief to be an 'Aryan.' Where do you get this nonsense? To be Aryan is as much about linguistics as it is about race, if not more so. Those who spoke an Aryan tongue were connected by language, not necessarily skin or hair color.

And I highly doubt you're accurately depicting the attitudes of the sons and daughters of former Imperial Army generals. In point of fact, the reason Reza Shah, and many other Iranians for that matter, were rooting for Germany during WWII was not because they identified with Hitler and his "blond race," or his crimes against humanity -- truth be told, even most Europeans didn't know what was really going on in Hitler's concentration camps during the war years, only after the war ended did we find out the extent and nature of Hitler's crimes.

But the predominant reason that Reza Shah and others were on the side of Germany was NOT because they thought Iranians were somehow blond and blue-eyed "Germans," but because they desperately wanted to get out from under the crushing thumbs of the Russians and the British. After all, the British and Russians are "blond and blue-eyed" Aryans as well.

However, it was the idea of a neutralizing third power in Iran, something that even Fath Ali Shah aspired to, by way of Napolean and the French. This was an attractive premise within the ruling circles in Iran for nearly 200 years, which is actually what the last Shah (pbuH) attempted to do with the Americans, so as to reduce the influence of the Russians and the British.

This had nothing to do with RACE and the "self-hating" ARYAN complex!!! Bro, you got too much time on your hands lately. First, you accuse SamSam of being a racist, and now, this absurd piece. As someone who has admired your previous blogs, I say take a summer break from blogging, looks like you sure need it.

Right to the point!

by exiranian on

ZADI to KHAL. One of the problem is that most people have no clue about the history of Iran. When they want to show their pride, they wear FARVEHAR type of jewelery (without being able to pronounce the name correctly). The other thing is that a lot of people talk about Zoroastrianism as if it is (or was) a perfect religion. They don't have any clue that when they had power, the MOGHs were the same bastards as mullahs. All religions are potentially evil.
