Ahmadinejad's excessive mud slinging

For the record, let me first reiterate that I found the presidential debates preceding the Iranian election to be a most fruitful phase in Iran's democracy; a fantastic evolutionary phase of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. It was one of the most important factors which brought up a historic number of Iranians into their country's political arena, which resulted in one of the most impressive mass participations in the election.  I believe that it was high time that the well kept secrets of factions and clerical factionalism following the revolution, be put on the table for everyone to discuss in an open and healthy manner for years to come. However, the constructive criticism mixed with political opportunism, also leads to exaggerated accusations, mud slinging, and hasty slanders that once the barriers are opened suddenly, it can wash out good and bad together in a massive ensuing and uncontrollable flood.

The pent up legitimate frustration of Iranian youth aside; the high jacking of that frustration by foreign media's massive propaganda and the neo-con dream to convert the youth revolt to a "color revolution" ; the dreams of Iranian expats and Shahis who are trying to ride on the back of Iranian youth for their own agenda, and the faction fighting among Iranian clerics and groups within IRG supporting different factions aside.... there is a REAL price that Ahmadinejad will pay for his excessive "lajan parakani" during the presidential debates which is partly reflected in the mass demonstrations. He is partly guilty of the consequences of the civil unrest because of his unchecked accusations, slanders and uncivil debate.

Ebrahim Nabavi is writing an article today //iranian.com/main/2009/jul-19  in which he "advises" Rafsanjani in rejecting Ahmadinejad as the legitimate president in the upcoming Friday prayers!! While I believe that Mr. Nabavi better stick to being a jester which he can be good at instead of an advisor to Rafsanjani, I share with him the enthusiasm of Rafsanjani's upcoming chance to defend himself. Unlike Mr. Nabavi, I believe that Rafsanjani is more patriotic and less self-absorbed to attempt a coup in order to defeat the collective wish of Iranian people who elected Ahmadinejad with a large margin. Rafsanjani has devoted his entire life to revolution and Iranian cause, he won't betray Iran to satisfy the silly agenda of people like Mr. Nabavi!

I hope that the coming Friday prayers, an event that became one of the pillars of strength of Islamic Revolution and the symbol of the mass presence and vigilance, primarily spearheaded by none other than Heshemi himself, would teach a lesson of greatness and tactfulness to Mr. Ahmadinejad

After all, Mr. Rafsanjani has been an important leader of the revolution, and has been on the helm of the the Iranian ship in the most turbulent of the storms facing Iran. His clever leadership has kept Iran from drowning in a sea of international assaults against our country. Rafsanjani was a leader created by a historical moment which is hard to duplicate. Mr. Ahmadinejad is better remember that although he himself has risen from the womb of Iranian masses, and has served his country honestly and to his best in every position that he held, yet he won't be able to fill the footsteps of Rafsanjani, even if he were to live twice!

I am sure that Hashemi Rafsanjani will be able to repudiate the mud thrown at him, and will defend his monumental legacy while he teaches Ahmadinejad once more some lessons in civility and the true revolutionary spirit.

Mr. Ex.

Thank you for your response.  I still say independence is not equal to guns.  Iran was fighting Iraq for almost eight years.  I never said the whole war period was a patriotic and defensive war.  I am not a fan of wars and will not applaude those who like those kinds of excitements.  These said, I would say that Iran fought Iraq for that long because the whole Western World and Soviet Union with the help of the Arab fighters and oil money were helping Saddam's regime.  Iran took prisoners of war from more than a dozen nations.  By the end of the War Iraq was in debt for almost 400 billion dollars and Iran was not.  And so, Iranians suffered a lot more than Iraqis. In brief, it was the war of rulers of the world against a revolution in its infancy.  In the last year of the war Americans had already opened a smi-active front against Iran along the Persian Gulf and the Omman Sea.  Do you remember the shutting down of Iranian civil airliner.  There were other confrontations as well.  It won't cost you anything if you read some of those chapters that I have written about the last stages of the war.  It is right on this website under the name of A Path To Nowhere.  At the last several months of the war, My Dear Friend, Iran was under arms embargo.  Just by looking at these few items that I mentioned you can find out that Iran was fighting against a mamouth force; and not just Iraqi forces.

I did not claim to be an expert military man.  I was a conscript leiutenant spending 19 months in the first front.  That is not my pride.  I am for peace and regard wars evil.

And US and other forces venture of Iraq, perhaps, you have not heard (because the gentle West doesn't want to tell the truth to the world) that in the second Persian Gulf War (that of US and allies with the full support of the United Nations 1991) the heaviest bombardmants of history took place over Iraq for over forty days.  Depleted uranuin was used against Iraqi forces.  The area is still contaminated with chemical and radioactive agents.  I hope you remember Persian Gulf syndrum among US forces and its cover-up.  Twenty-eight nations the most militarized of them (US, Britain, and France) took part in it.  Huge amount of money was raised from Germany, Japan, Arabs, and others who paid the expenses.  So, the war was fought (mostly by Americans) at others' expense.  Still, Saddam was able to restore electricity to the Iraqis two weeks
after the war.

This was the first war for oil.  After that, Sir, a sanction was imposed on the Iraqi nation for over ten years.  Nothing was going in and later on some small amount of food stuff was allowed in.  Do you recall the food for oil program and the theft behind it?  I do.  Even the UN had said close to half a million Iraqi children perished because of lack of medicine.  Military grew so weak that it could not defend its territories; economy crumbled; social life detriorated.  In this circumstances that nothing was working, Americans and allies invaded Iraq for no valid reason.  The whole world is still waiting for the weapons of mass destruction.  Again, despite the illigality of the war, the West used unconventional weapons in Baghdad and other places as they wished.  After six years of occupation, Americans have
not be able to restore electricity to the whole Iraq; but this time American people are paying for the war; and so they feel a deep pain.

What people like you do not understand is that wars drain the wealth and prosperity of nations as wars do not produce anything but destruction.  In a short period of time you may witness a bit of prosperity, but in the long-run you will reap air only as everything will go in smoke.  You do not have to be in the forefront to see this Sir.

According to military canculations of Western experts, for every soldier to fight in the front twenty people have to work behind the front line to support him.  This is only if everything goes well and according to plans.  In the cases like the second Iraqi invasion and that of Afghanestan (that were both illigal as no international body endorsed them) that the Bush Administration had to bribe every single corrupt government like those of Egypt, Pakestan, and Central Asia (by dropping their debts and even giving them free money to use their spaces for war) the expensese will rise even higher.

The expenses of the Iraq war has become over two trillion dollar.  This means that budgets from healthcare, infrastructure maintainance, and social services will be diverted to the millitary that has nothing to do except consuming money.  Less money to spend in domestic fronts, less jobs available, and consequently people are unable to pay their mortgages, bank cannot collect the money they have loaned to people (bad loans); they cannot sell the seized houses as no one has the money to buy and you read the rest.  Do you recall Mr. Bush's first term in office boasting about hot housing market in the US?  I do.  I saw the crash of the market as well. Once the biggest economy is in trouble, the whole world will be affected.  Independence and power is not weapons.  It is how wisely you can manage problems without resorting to force.  Qublai the Mongol Ruler of China said: "you can conquer a land on the horseback, but you cannot manage it on the horseback".  This the heart of the matter.  You can destroy, but you cannot conquer.

Thank you for your patience

the subject. Between the repeated desires of Rosie to chit chat and khaleh zanaki instead of debate, Fateh's meaningless typical name callings, and Samsam's typical "qadesiyyeh, Aryan Persian, soosmar, malijak, and Ommati" mumbo jumbo, I almost missed your relevant comment!

You said: "It is really lame of you to finally "concede" to a very small criticism of your beloeved Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after a whole month of cheating, beating, killing, intimidation, and lies in Tehran. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is more than "party guilty" for what happened in Iran.  First of all, and no matter how much you'd like to believe, Jaleho, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not and has not been a popular president to most Iranian people.  Most Iranians have hated this guy with a passion for most of his first term which was procured for him through cheating in the 2005 elections.  "

I did not fianlly "concede" to.... Prior to the election and during the debates, I said exactly the same thing. Yet, I would vote again for Ahmadinejad in both elections if I were to vote  anew, for the reasons I have explained many times. Unlike you, I do not believe that election was stolen, I do believe that Ahmadinejad WON by a large margin. That means that I aslo disagree with your statement that majority of Iranians hate Ahmadinejad.

The present blog is written in reaction to Nabavi's article, and extending a prediction that people like him and the expats on IC are going to be disappointed ONCE MORE, this Friday. That is, I continue to believe that unlike what people think, the presence of Rafsanjani and Mousavi in the upcoming Friday prayers is not going to be the "revolution" people are dreaming about!

Yet, the event is going to be of utmost importance, and it would resonate with Rafsanjani's legacy of Friday prayers, and he might use that legacy to pull people together, much to the despair of many here who hope for completely the opposite! He is a very clever man and it would be interesting to see what he will do. Either way, I think it is going to be an important day.

Dear PC, like I told Solo

by Jaleho on

Americans NEED constant reminder of truth, so your type of nonsense is balanced by some facts.

So, you think that America WON Iraq in two weeks? Then what are Americans doing there after six years getting maimed and coming back to homeless shelters here to the tune of TENS OF THOUSANDS?! Cleaning floors in Baghdad?

Second, and I repeat this for the tenth time to you, maybe you get it one of these days:

Iran-Iraq war was in essence a war waged agaisnt Iranian revolution, a war in which America and Europe, China and Russia helped Iraq with military, intelligence and even chemical weapons to break Iran. Add to that the political prowess of the US in the UN, and the huge finances of the oil producing Arabs, and you'll get essentially most of the world against Iran .... and still they failed to break Iran and Iranian revolution!

Why do you think that Iranians KNOW that the west combined and the 5+1 can not do shit about them and their nuclear program? They have experienced it first hand already,  with Ahmadinejad being one of the humble soldiers of that war!!

Jaleho

Why Flying Solo, Thank you/& PC

by Jaleho on

for noticing that I don't care about what some jack ass might think about my writings. It is true that I write about my convictions, political analysis that I passionately believe in, and enjoy predicting what awaits us based on that belief and analysis. I value honesty, and I try to be as honest as I can, even if it stirs unwanted emotions in some, although for some, that by itself can be the end aim of writing.

Regarding your second point (this might be of interest to PC too), unlike many Iranians who are badly missing Iran and whine about being far from their "vatan," I have the positive attitude. That is, I never look at the glass half empty, rather half full. I feel blessed for having two countries, not sad for being away from "one." Although my family is settled here, I do go to Iran often, I stay completely connected with the extended family there, with political and cultural events in Iran, and with institutions that I believe I can be useful to. Unlike your relative though, I don't believe Iranians need someone like me to go and convince them with "words" to believe in garbage that they wouldn't believe in otherwise! In fact, I believe Iranians are being underestimated here immensly. The new generation of Iranian youth are so politically savvy that they would be laughing at a whole bunch of westerners with their magnanimous paternalistic views.

Now, that's quite a different story with my adopted beloved country, the US of A!! With the massive powerful braisnwashing that Americans are exposed to from childhood, they need a reminder of TRUTH far more than Iranians would. It would be a crime to let people like American wife and programmer Craig, Bush and Richard Perle roam around America unchecked, won't you say? They'll ruin this country, and by the sheer power and its political and military influence, that would drag a good chuck of the world with it, Iran included.

You claim to be a military man. The US toppled Saddam's regime in two weeks. You of all people should know what that means. Didn't you say you fought in the Iran-Iraq war, where Iran tried and failed to accomplish that... for 10 years?

And on that note, I saw in your post your ranting about how the US supported Iraq in that war and how many Iranian lives that cost. Saddam wanted peace in 1981. Khomeini wouldn't have it. Whose fault is that?

brought the biggest world economy to her knees.

That's funny, I've been hearing it was the banking and real estate scandals, and irresponsible stock market ventures.I guess that's all just western propaganda, right?

I know what Jaleho wrote. I read it for muyself. I don't need you to interpret it for me. Especially since you were just ranting about how it's the "Americans" on this website who are always being condescending and trying to"teach" Iranians. Aren't you trying to teach an American -  about the Englihs language, no less - right now?

I bet you miss Zion.

You know what I miss? I miss the days when I wasn't being censored on this website, and the days when I used to actually care what people here thought. I miss the days when this wasn't a place where hatemongers who claim to be Americans engaged in endless bashing of the US and Israel, and the West in general. Is that all Iranians care about? If one judged by what people like Jaleho and... others... did, they would come to that conclusion, wouldn't they?

It looks like another thread is being ruined with repetitive comments which are unrelated to the subject and are full of personal attacks.

Jaleho, you say:

"...there is a REAL price that Ahmadinejad will pay for his excessive "lajan parakani" during the presidential debates which is partly reflected in the mass demonstrations. He is partly guilty of the consequences of the civil unrest because of his unchecked accusations, slanders and uncivil debate."

It is really lame of you to finally "concede" to a very small criticism of your beloeved Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after a whole month of cheating, beating, killing, intimidation, and lies in Tehran. Ahmadinejad's rhetoric and his embarrassing appearances at international events have brought shame and anger to many Iranians inside Iran.  His stupid economic policies have hurt and angered ordinary Iranians beyond reconciliation.  He is not a popular man and the real election statistics display his lack of popularity.  Second, you may write as much as you want  about this Jaleho, switching between being arrogant and self-congratulatory and displaying a slight amount of remorse here.  You can't change the facts.  The elections were rigged and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did not win through an election but through force and dishonesty.  You can't call him "bi-adab" and slap him on the wrist and move on; it's grossly inadequate given what has happened. Last, regarding "lajan parakani" there is a whole lot more where that came from!  Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an endless source of lajan, in his conduct, in his policies, and in his rhetoric. Again, you can't legitimize him by handing a soft criticism his way.  Too late.

You must know Jaleho that what is happening in Iran has quickly surpassed Ahmadinejad and his elections opponents. For now you can be jubilant about the outcome as by whatever means it was necessary (and not through votes) your preferred candidate is again the president of Iran. Really, nobody cares anymore. The truth of what Iranians want and what is happening in Iran is now a lot bigger than our little endless source of "lajan" here.

You can blame all those who can see this and label them as opportunists and foreign agents in search of a velvet revolution in Iran--Kayhan does the same thing and there are people at Evin right now extracting fake confessions from prisoners to support this.  No problem, you can have that too. But when the time comes you will have this latest episode of sympathy and defense of what is slowly being unveiled as the most heinous crimes against humanity in Iran, you will not have a leg to stand on. Time will show.

Get your facts straight. It's not cool to be "American" when Americans are criticizing you, and Iranian when you want to criticize Americans. Jaleho says she is American, so I take her at her word. I said a very heartfelt thing with extreme conviction that I truly believe especially when the missing detainees are just starting to reappear..

in boxes..

and there's gonna be a LOT more where that came from..It's already started, there are some VERY VERY ugly stories starting to emerge...

and the woman calls me a drama queen.

Does my statement sound like the statement of a drama queen or someone who believes passionately in something?

The woman and I had tenuously been starting to have an uneasy truce...did what I said about THESE KILLERS sound particularly laughable or overdramatic to you?

Ayatollah Montazeri said the same thing. He called them Stalinists. He implicitly equated Khamenei to the Shah. He said they have no right to rule. Do you think HE gives a damn at this point who 'won' the election?

Why am I a drama queen and he's not for saying these people are murderers?

Enough, already. There are much more important things to do than to defend myself against accusations of being mean to Jaleho.

I ask a woman forty billion times how she can make a statement IRI is a democracy and offer her the aboslutely incontrovertibly true alternative that it has both totalitarian (excuse me that was the word) and democratic elements, I say it is a prepostrous statement because it is, the woman totally ignores and on the forty billion and first time tells me I'm not worth responding to.  She says this to other people too, they're just not at...her level..

Did you read what I wrote? The woman goes on Delara Darabi's Iranian of the Day thread the day the girl gets strung up to scorn people for being there and then called them "propaganidzed idiots" for not accepting a hot off the presses wikipedia article as an ultimate source.

What the hell was she doing on that thread badgering people when the girl's body wasn't even cold?

The woman writes the VERY FIRST blog after the (s)election, that same night while the majority onsite are shellshocked and gloats (she's as bad as Zion, surely you know what "Schadnenfreud is) when the Gaza war ended--and she mocking gloating, gloating mocking, and then she ends it by saying "tomorrow we'll see who the REAL sore losers are".

She meant HERE. From publisher down to majority. Sore losers, ha ha ha. Publisher came out strongly for Moussavi. Publisher pays her rent. Talk about respect..

But then there was THERE. Yeah we saw who the REAL sore losers were...the kids shot in the heart for standing on a street corner, the teenaged boys f-ed in the a. in gang bangs..yeah ouch that hurts. Sore loser, right. And the missing detainees are just STARTING to come out and they're starting to come out in boxes...

and there's just..

no remorse.  None.

From the get-go. God, I really have to copy this for the next person who brings this up: a person who says "IRI is a democracy" and refuses to address this when challenged is discredited from legitimate political discourse as surely as an architect who says a wall is a room should have his license revoked. It really IS that simple.

But on top of that..the sneering, the sadism, the CHRONIC intransigence and illogicality..

and now you come along and lecture me about what? being rude to Jaleho? Following her around on her blogs? Sounds like you know me or think you iknow me pretty well, so why did you bother starting that conversation to begin with?

And yes I absolutely do take umbrage at someone going into such extreme detail and my examining it with a fine tooth comb and honestly asking questions about it JUST SO I CAN BE SURE that I can be at the level of a debate YOU initiated dropping out without a word...

and then coming back and talking to me about my "honesty" WITHOUT EVEN MENTIONING IT....

and now you're lecturing me when I bent over backwards to be nice to you just now..

boy oh boy..you are a pip.

Second, I have no personal acrimony towards you as person, however I resent this obssession of following Jaleh and posting, almost exclusively, abbusive comments and remarks for her.  Is this anything besides vengence?  Definitely, you know more of Christianity than I do and the West has always claimed it is follower of Christ.  I see how you love your enemy who is not your enemy any way.  Thank you for your special respect for me, but, please, do not show me special respect as I do not very much care about respect as I do about a solid argument about a subject.

Regarding myself; I did not go anywhere; except perhaps to work.  The last thing that I remember I clarified my stand on the questions you had asked me.  After that I did not see anything to myself and I have not visited that blog ever since.

These said, I wonder why should you take it to heart that I absented the debate.  I think purpose of these comments is that people read them from different angles of a subject not to find a victorious side.  Even if I did not respond to you, some other people must have read your points and enjoyed it.  Why should you specify me as person?  That's not my stand any way.  If I wanted a private conversation or chit chat, I would have asked for your email address to write it directly to you not to post here for the public.

Finally, I have not made any commitment to be always right in my assessments.  Neither have I ever made a commitment to follow a debate for ever.  Still, based upon the available facts to the public (that I am perhaps aware of a tiny fraction of a percentage) I give an oppinion and compare.  Please, do not respond to this if you don't like to, but as much as I am able, I will expose criminals who hide in the skin of a sheep.  Please, note that in no way my word is directed at you.  You may refer to my war memoirs "A Path To Nowhere" right on this website to see on what priciples I stand.

You may very well recall that during the arm for hostages deal in mid 1980s coined "Iran Contra Affair", your beloved IRI was buying arms from the U.S. through no other country but Israel.  Iran, the holly Ayatollah Khomeini, dealt with the Zionists; $400,000,000 worth of arms.

Do you really think Iran is independent?  Are you kidding me?  The U.S. alone can turn the entire country into a parking lot in a matter of hours using missiles fired from ships and submarines with the triggers being pulled and buttons being pushed in Florida.

Granted during all of this, a few missles circa 1950s may get fired from Iran towards Israel.  But who cares.  Israel is not next door to NYC or LA.

Iran serves a purpose for the foreign policy of the U.S.  Thats why it has not been invaded.

Ahmadinejad and the entire Iranian army is nothing more than a pashe' kooreh against the technology or might of the U.S.  You don't fool us, don't fool yourself.

Iran's leaders are using the comedy of standing up to the U.S. to fool the uneducated but armed masses of Iranian militia so that they can rape and pillage the money reserves of Iran.  That all.

Sir; I think one of the pieces of gold that you mentioned Islamic Republic has done is bringing Iran up to its full independence from the level of a semi-colony whose fate was decided in Western capitals.  I wonder what the fate of supporters of the Islamic Republic would be if it is given to you Sir.  What would you do with your claimed tiny 20%.  I strongly believe, it is less bloody an afair to keep the Islamic Republic in place than bringing those who will commit the same things and will lose independence and integrity of the nation.

Flying Solo, you don't boast a fraction of her 'knowledge'?

by rosie is roxy is roshan on

Ask her as I did a billion times to defend her categorical statement "IRI is a democracy" rand why she wouldn't accept my suggested alternative "IRI has both Fascistic and democratic elements" and get weeks of silence. Ask her why she thought on the day of Delara's death a wikipedia article on Delara detailing both her trial, sentencing and death was an ultimate source and harangued five different people of different political persuasions and temperaments that they were 'propagandized idiots' if they couldn't see that.

Ask her what the hell she was doing on Delara's Iranian of the Day thread the day Delara died scorning people for being there anyway.

Information is not knowledge. Knowledge requires a logical relating of different bytes of information and a depth beneath it. As well as enough 'of a kind of intellectual porosity' to know that it is constantly subject to change from engagement with n new outside sources. And knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom requires something palpable yet intangible that cannot be put into words except to say that she ain't it.

Now Avaznia, that's another story.

FLYING SOLO,  IF PEOPLE 'HURL STONES' AT JALEHO, IT'S BECAUSE SHE HAS TEDIOUSLY AND CONSTANTLY AND INTRACTIBLY ADVOCATED FOR A  REGIME THAT STONES PEOPLE AS THOUGH SHE WERE READING FROM A BETTY CROCKER COOKBOOK RECIPE OF AUTOMATIC WRITING.

But honestly the hurling stones is pointless.

Can't get blood from a stone.

Stone plus stone equals nada.

Manouchehr, within your brief post are contained

by rosie is roxy is roshan on

several very serious points which would require first a detailed anser from me and then a discussion with you. I am happy to do it as I know that you like me are someone who will continue a debate for days if it is important enough. And it is, in fact crucially important. And I mean crucially as in CRUX.

Unlike for example Kurush who is a foaming maniac and Jaleho who is stuck like a gerbil in a wheel spinning her own wheels, and these two new news contributor characters wgb or whatever and shah gholem who are pure and simple diversionists, you are someone whose views I deeply respect and learn from.

However I don't want to start replying here to the content of your post to me unless you can assure me that you will not abscond as you did the other day after I had put an awful lot of time and effort into our first exchanges on the closely related and overlapping topic. You simply vanished and having witnessed you in action that is not like you. Now here you are not even mentioning it. This makes me uneasy. I don't want to risk wasting the time and effort again.

Now granted you also put a lot of time and effort into those initial couple of exchanges but the point is you defected not I.

So please assure me that you won't do that again. Otherwise I feel it is pointless to specifically reply to your post.

I'm totally serious. If I sound sarcastic, pretentious, hostile, evasive or any of those things I truly don't mean to be. If I sound aggravated, I am. But no problem For real.

:o)

thx
