Dear Friends,
iranian.com has been through many changes in its nearly 17 years of existence. The only constant has been my editorship. That too is about to change.
Starting next month I will no longer be having a role in management. I have sold my shares to my partner Saïd Amin and will be pursuing a new project. For the next few months I will stay on as a caretaker editor until a replacement is found.
Any dynamic organization needs to carry on independently without relying on one person. This is a big step in that direction, followed by major changes in design in the near future. These much-needed changes will revolutionize your experience on iranian.com with the latest tools and gadgets.
My experience with iranian.com has been a blast. It truly has. Every single day has been full of fun and excitement, so much so that no amount of hardship or disappointment ever had a lasting impact. At some point I might reflect on the meaning of it all, but the only judgement that counts is yours.
I want to express special thanks to my dear friend Nazy Kaviani for contributing much of the best content in the past few years and being a tremendous help in maintaining the site as a volunteer. I could not have managed without her good taste and dedication.
But the biggest Thank You goes to You for feeling comfortable with contributing thousands and thousands of pages of your aspirations and frustrations. And you can continue to do so. iranian.com will always be your home.
Lots of love
j

Now let us welcome the new site owner ... Shall we? after all from now on he is the one in charge of the Russian Roulette here. ; )
Speaking of which, JJ jan could you please unblock all the kindred spirits who have been so ruthlessly blocked by you?
And I should thank you for putting up with my constant blah blahs on this site.
I wish you the best in everything you do.

by Farfromheaven2002 on Sun Apr 29, 2012 08:35 PM PDTGood wishes to you, my role model in bravery. Iranian.com (especially you) played a great role in my initial integration to new life out of Iran. Thank you. I didn’t live in Iran from 15 years ago, which is about the era of Iranian.com. I admire daring people who move on. I hope you could share your spanking position in the future. I bet it’s exciting and more challenging.

IC would not be the same without you;(((
by Mahvash Shahegh on Sun Apr 29, 2012 02:11 PM PDTI am shocked and speechless! All I can say is you took away my virtual homeland in diaspora from me! IC was my connection to all Iranians and I got all my information from it. I knew that I was in a good hand and trust your fairness, smartness, impartiality and, especially, your belief in "nothing is sacred."
You will be greatly missed and IC would not be the same without you.
Good luck in all your future endeavors!

Thank you very much for providing a cyber home for us expatriates, all these years. Hope to continue to see your blogs and pictorials in the future.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, no seriously, Thanks
by ramintork on Sun Apr 29, 2012 10:10 AM PDTNo seriously, Thanks. You gave many of us a platform that we would otherwise not have.
Many of us started to actually believe we are Artists, writers and political activists. Many of us did actually become that.
At the end, Iranian.com is like a communial karma, we make it as good or as bad depending on what we contribute and I hope with the new editor the spirit of it improve or at least does not change.
Good luck with life and everything. I hope your next project is something social so that we still see you around.
NB. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish is the fourth book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" written by Douglas Adams. Its title is the message left by the dolphins when they departed Planet Earth just before it was demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass, as described in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The phrase has since been adopted by some science fiction fans as a humorous way to say "goodbye".
Not that I am suggesting any doom for IC. I hope it will have a bright future.

by Mohammad Alireza on Sun Apr 29, 2012 09:17 AM PDTHaving Iranian.com as an outlet to express my ideas freely has been extremely valuable, especially when in Iran no such thing exists.

by Bahram Gohari on Sun Apr 29, 2012 08:14 AM PDTDear Mr. JJ, let me make my point simple and clear, when you were campaigning for financial support for IC, I made my donation, now that you sold your share for $1.5b, what is my share in terms of $$$$$$.
Mr. Jahanshah, infinite thanks for your love of Israel!
by IRANLOVESISRAEL on Sun Apr 29, 2012 08:08 AM PDTYou have always given the pro-Israeli folks the opportunity to express their views freely and protected them against the violent and aggressive attacks by the gangs of elements of Hezbollah.

Movin’ on up to the East Side!

Among the things that I have learned in Corporate America is that an organization is always a reflection of the values and the vision of its top guy. You see that clearly at Ariana’s Huffington Post and Murdoch’s Fox. Iranian.com is no different. It has always been about JJ’s values, world views and life experiences.
The people who blog and comment on this site have a connection to JJ, although many of them have never met him. This is what makes this site unique and different from other online experiences.
It will be interesting to see what the next editor will bring to the table. And although changes in the format and to the structure of the site are always necessary and welcome, it is the underlying philosophy and the views of that person that will determine what this site will be like in the coming years.

by divaneh on Sun Apr 29, 2012 05:31 AM PDTThanks JJ for bringing so many Iranians together in this unique site. I don't like to see you go but think that you have made the best decision. I hope that IC prospers and maintains its continuous improvement after your departure so you would see that 17 years of your hard work has created a media organisation that is independent and can continue without its founder.
I wish you success with your next project and think the ultimate outcome would be to have two successful Iranian websites.
All the best.
