Here comes President Mousavi

How ever you look at it, Mousavi is going to be the next president.

The only way Ahmadinejad can be re-elected is for him to gain more than 50% of the vote on Friday. That's highly unlikely, given Mousavi's rising popularity.

Here are the likely scenarios:

A) Mousavi will win more than 50% of the vote on Friday, or

B) Mousavi will get the most votes but less than 50%, followed by Ahmadinejad, Karroubi and Rezaie. In the the run-off election, the great majority of the anti-Ahmadinejad people who voted for Karroubi and Rezaie will vote for Mousavi, making him the next president.

C) Or, Ahmadinejad will gain the majority of votes but not above 50%. Mousavi will come in second, followed by Karroubi and Rezaie. In the run-off, Mousavi will top Ahmadinejad with Karroubi and Rezaie supporters switching to Mousavi.

So be prepared to deal with President Mir Hossein Mousavi for the next four years. Bebinim cheh tofehee az ab darmiyad.

Best of all rejoice the final days of the god-aweful Ahmadinejad era.

MOUSSAVI AS PRIME MINISTER

by BARB (not verified) on

//www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/06/15/iran.ele...

Is this the so-called "reformist" that American government should support????

He, like most Iranians in power, does not believe in the existence of Israel. He defended the taking of hostages at the U.S. Embassy in Iran in 1979, which led to the break in ties between the countries.

He was part of a regime that regularly executed (thousands) of dissidents and backed the fatwa against British author Salman Rushdie.

And as late as April, he opposed suspending the country's nuclear-enrichment program but said it would not be diverted to weapons use.

Moussavi was named prime minister in 1980. A year earlier, Iran had become an Islamic republic after the ruling monarchy was overthrown and Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was forced into exile.

The same year, a group of students in support of the Islamic revolution took 52 Americans hostage and held them for 444 days.

In an interview with The New York Times in 1981, Moussavi defended the hostage-taking as the beginning of "second stage of our revolution."

"It was after this that we rediscovered our true Islamic identity," he said.

The incident, Moussavi added, ended the "problem of pro-American circles and their following in Iran.

"After this, we felt the sense that we could look Western policy in the eye and analyze it the way they had been evaluating us for many years."

In 1988, author Salman Rushdie released his fourth novel, 'The Satanic Verses,' which Iran said insulted Islam. The country's supreme leader called for the death of Rushdie. And Moussavi, in a radio broadcast, said the order would be carried out.

There you go: those of you

by Jimmy (not verified) on

There you go: those of you who were happy about these elections and how it would change Iran through democratic ways and how Iran has changed and how us the boycotters are stupid and wrong...You were so excited that it made you blind to the real nature of these lections and how this regime would use the turnout record to its own benefit and select its own candidate.

There you go: it seems that the ONLY real way to get what we want is through violence because that's the only language these morons understand...The ONLY one! There is no debate or compromise possible with these monsters, liars and criminals.

I hope you all see that all you had was illusions. Why don't you listen to those who have suffered and been through hell with this regime and know the real face of these mad psychopaths??

According to our LEADER, the game is OVER

by Fair on

That is right.  As long as you believe that reform can be accomplished within the system, you must accept that this game is over..

Because the RAHBAR said so.

And he has final say on all matters.

There will be demonstrations of anger and frustration.  But unless millions of people who are not prepared to back down come out, and storm the interior ministry, the security forces, and other key government installations, the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will prevail, some angry people will be put in jail.  The Islamic Fuehrer has spoken, nothing else matters.  This is the root of all our problems.

Now for those of you who still think you have some choice in this system and there might be a chance to reform this government, do you need any further evidence to change your mind?

And for all of you who rallied behind and fully supported Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1978 and demanded an Islamic government are you happy now?  YOU have destroyed my and future generation and our chance to live in dignity as part of a modern world.  Congratulations on your accomplishment.

Allaho Akbar! HEIL KHAMENEI! Long live Islamic Democracy (whatever the hell that is)!

Yeah right.

I am not in love with Rafsanjani as blindly as you are. Maybe the constant failures of Rafsanjani's groupies in negotiation with the west gave rise to Ahmadinejad, let's look at it this way for once. Bunch of his gullible, self proclaimed international lawyers rolled over on their backs in the hope of pleasing the vicious, greedy, western lawyers that were trained for life to pursue the interest and only the interest of their respective countries?  Is it wrong to call them stupid, since we all know what would be the outcome of dealing with the thieves? If this characterize me as an Ahmadinejad supporter, so be it!

Nobody's exaggerating anything. We're not saying the IR is murdering as many people or has started a World War. In fact, that would be a bit hard to digest, even though possible in the future. I'm just using the Reich as an example to tell whoever it was I was debating with that majority doesn't make right.

I think you're putting things out of context a bit.

Funny thing is I also use the example of the big fat 98% YES everyone gave to the Islamic Republic (or was it 99% now?), but people discuss only the Hitler argument and leave the IR example for oblivion...

The issue is just "sholooghesh kardan", right?

I do not want to go off the subject, however Reich only had a modest majority before the [The Enabler Act] was passed. Hitler consolidated the power by eliminating the opposition parties and individuals, namely sending them to concentration camp, or simply ELIMINATING[wink] them.

With all these said, no doubt that both are categorized as dictatorship, however it is just a tad bit[na ziad ha] going over board when comparing IR to Nazi party, Be Hitler bar mikhoreh khodaie nakardeh.

My point is, EXAGGERATIONS tend to discredit the opposition. Much better results can be attained by sticking to relevant issues and facts. IR has enough blood on their own hands without having to compare them to this and that. Just my humble opinion.

I agree with Mammad on Khamenei not being totally independent. He lacks religious credentials, is dependent on the military and also has to follow public opinion. No way on earth he can ignore what is going on right now, and neither can the military for that matter. I believe Khamenei's power can only get weaker in time and the position of the 'supreme leader' is one that cannot stand the test of time. he has to go - sooner or later. Similar to the monarchy really.
