The failure of Communism

December 26,1991 the Empire of the Soviet Union fell.Nearly 2 years after the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union greed to give up it's monopoly of power. It was a slow process with the Soviet Government killing and abusing people, coup attempts and criticism of a dominating decentralized state.Gorbachev himself near the end of his leadership shifted ideals to greater political and social freedoms, only to worsen the atmosphere later. The struggle with communism continued no matter how 'watered' down it became. This along with a drop in the price of Oil,economic growth at a standstill and the political unrest lead to the begining of the Soviet Union's dissolution in 1985.Republic's began resisting central control and became more independent.Freedom's and liberties were in the process of reforming,Glasnost instituted greater freedom's.In 1988 Private Ownership became a possibility in the Soviet Union and economic reforms in the Law on Cooperatives.Soon the Media became critical of the Government and problems were highlighted like poor housing, pollution, corruption, poor labor conditon's and human right's.Yeltsin rode the wave of political unrest against Gorbachev criticizing his slow pace to 'Fix' Communism. In 1990 he quit the Communist party altogether.

Government's had began to circumvent protests, rights and freedoms.

'Communism' turned into a mass criminal system of Governments. It is said there is a death toll of up to 60 Million people in the Soviet Union alone..

Atrocious...

A coup to overthrow Gorbachev by hardline communist's failed.

Revolution and complete Rejection of Communism was occuring across Europe and the Soviet Union.

Bulgaria,Czech,East Germany,Romania,Hungary and Poland,fell to Revolution.

By the end of 1991,14 New Nations declared independence from the Soviet Union.

Gorbachev resigned and Yeltsin was popularly elected.

  Well good for you and

by Escape on

Well good for you and the Worlds biggest standing Army.Good for them that don't know any better.I for one, would never live in the Police State called China by choice and have some criticism's,which BTW I doubt would be allowed.
Communism is a broad term.Overall I think Communism is a simple minded idea of society ran by Govt that has not worked.
It's a conformist and unindividualized depressing society. These regimes end in disasterous tyrannical reign's we've had to deal with for the past century's.
And before that the world had the same kind of thinking with the Idea of Monarchy's.That the 'King' will take care of the people by reigning their society.Communism changes the King to the Govt. Some 'Govt's' ala Kings' are more tolerable and civil than other's and more successful. The Communist record of success there has been on the back's of it's people in their labor and enslavement in the cases of China and Russia.
They were also the greatest human right's abuser's in the world..People defect.
Communism is a loss of control to the Government from the people and it fails when the people revoke back their right's from the Govt This is why it will continue to fail because people will always defend their right's.I believe the strength of China is in it's enslavement of it's people,so large a mass 1/3 of the world.
Here's some more Commies.. Jr is coming.

Well Yes and No

No Sargord I didn't and yes I'm simply rehashing..I'm an Anti-Soviet Republic cheerleader.
How about you? Are you merely rehashing the Glory days of Soviet Republic 1960's and early 70's?
They did not last long. And they are not even real, those are the years the West began to help the Russian's.
Because they were starving in food lines, partioned for a loaf of bread. While they were spending their money on rockets, armies and nuclear arms...So I've been told.

Yes Comrade,State Capitalism failed.Isn't State Capitalism a part of Communism? Yes,There was a low productivity of Capital even though they had a high investment.
And interestingly Mussolini used the fault's of State Capitalism in his promotion of Corporatism.

Escape, did you ever live in

by Sargord Pirouz on

Escape, did you ever live in or tour a Soviet Republic in the 1960s or early 70s?

Or are you merely rehashing what you've been told by others?

BTW: Try and tell the the Chinese political establishment that they are not officially a communist country.

Jury is still out...

Some say it was the "State Capitalism" which failed.

Never increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.
