This was originally recorded 16 years ago. Much like in Mikonos trial Bani-Sadr testified also provided testimony.
Banisadr!
by G. Rahmanian on Mon Apr 09, 2012 04:33 PM PDTNot many people on this site pay attention to what former President Banisadr says simply because he is considered a "traitor" by some groups and was one of Khomeini's allies.
But as you can see Banisadr is very clear about who the original "traitors" were. And that's exactly why regime's propagandists and apologists keep bringing up MEK as the real "traitors" and talk about other irrelevant issues, day in and day out.
Many things Banisadr says about Khamenei-Rafsanjani, et al., the war and the ceasefire came out either in the form of rumors or news during different stages of the war.
The Mullahs wanted a war in order to consolidate their rule. And when they got the war with Iraq, they prolonged it as long as they could.
Khomeini's letter that ended the hostilities is a very important historical piece in that it reveals the regime wanted to continue the war even longer, but they could not because of various reasons, some of which Khomeini has mentioned in that letter.
there are more important questions
by areyo barzan on Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:53 AM PDTBefore offering any analysis Mr Banisadr needs to answer this question

Re: Why now
by aynak on Mon Apr 09, 2012 09:39 AM PDTI am not a spokesman for Bani-Sadr, before I.C court punsishes me to death. But have looked at his site for valuable information for a quiet some times. He has mentioned much of these stuff over and over. In my view, it is more like at which point are we interested to hear some of it. :) The most important of all the prolonging of the war, he has mentioned from back in the mid 80'es. Back then there was no easy internet access and certainly no web-browsing.
Nevertheless, you should also ask the simple question, with his family --in- the religious community credential, how come he had to flee? This is were a lot of people unfortunately can't put 2 and 2 together: Bani-Sadr was pushed out preceisely because of his stand on some of the issue, and we have historical events to back that up. Personally, I believe his biggest mistake was to collaborate with Rajavi, however, this is no different than many of other Monday morning quarterbacking.
The upshot of it all is: everyone makes mistakes, it is what you do after you realize your mistake. Still you don't have to like him to appreciate the very valuable information he puts out.
Why now
by MRX1 on Mon Apr 09, 2012 08:25 AM PDTI am just curious why it is taking 30+ years for folks like him to say anything? first we hear that he was aganist the execution of Farkhroo paras (but for others he was ok with it!!!) and now this. shouldn't he have blown the whistle long time a go?
Thanks for correction,
by aynak on Sun Apr 08, 2012 10:04 PM PDTUnfortunately, I noticed that too late, and if I altered it, it would never see the light of front page, anyway, I hope folks would listen to some of the details of what went on in those time, particularly those who think 8 year war was imposed, which it was only for the first few months. At anyrate, "beh Bozorgy khodtetoon bebakhshyd". Roll should have been Role.
....
by Republican جمهوریخواه on Sun Apr 08, 2012 06:06 PM PDTI have no question in my mind that those responsible for prolonging the war beyond the liberation of Khorram-Shahr, with or without personal interests in any shape or form, should appear before a credible court of justice in Iran.
"role"--unless Hashemi is a baker
