religious in-breeding

although I'm sometimes fascinated by cult rituals, I do wonder what kind of effect the in-breeding has on genetic diseases.

By the way

by Benyamin on

The majority of Iranians today are Shiite because of a "royal decree" by Shah Abbas the great. so please don`t be too fired up about what you are or what you believe in!

Iranians were sunni muslims before Shah Abbas took over.

That is why I said we have done it before and we should do it again but this time to show support for our brothers and sisters in Iran and show the Iranian Mollahs that we do have other choices and too much fanaticism wiould only sway us away from their version of Islam.

This would only work if we all participate in it.

What has happened that we are in different rooms these days?!

Before joining IC I used to introduce myself as a person with no religion.  But, now, I introduce myself as a muslim at least born muslim.  Having no religion is too neutral, less influential and too early in public.  I realized that you were talking about modern Islam (not here in the bikini page).  In fact, I don't think that's true because almost all muslims in the world do not believe on the modernity version of us Iranians.  However, the reason that I will introduce myself as a muslim is my good memories from my grandmother/grandfathers somehow practicing Islam.  That's enough for me.  It has nothing to do with supporting other muslims or other fundamentalists.  Oh, gosh.  You converted me to Islam:)

Good news for those wishing to convert to Zoroastrianism

by Simorgh5555 on

A beautiful procession. As much as I do not feel at ease with the concept of organaised religions dominating society, a lot of Zorastrian symbols and icons are interwoven into the fabric of our heritage.

For Iranians wishing to convert to Zoroastrianism, I can recommend an organisation who are willing to facilitate this:

 //www.bozorgbazgasht.com/

They will arrange a navojote ceremony (free of charge, last time I checked) and teach you the Holy prayers. However, do not expect to be accepted by orthodox Zoroastrians who will view your conversion as invalid and may not permit you into the Atashkadehs.

Despite Shia Islam accpeting Zoroastrians as People of the Book', the Zoroastrian God is not the same as the Abrahamic religions. Infact, the belief of God as a ubiquitous and omnipotent being is not universally held by most Zoroastrians. Ahurazmazda is the 'inner' God or good within each human being who then choses to follow the righteous path or that of Ahriman.

concious population around second to native Americans. Now, they are being ridiculed by the Islamists because they think digging a grave and putting the body in a sac cloth is much better??? On what grounds? There is no basis that burial in forms of ***INHUMATION*** is superior to to others.

Those who worship only the dead not the living. Just like those anti-abortion people who care about the fetus more than the homeless children or adults.

Again and again one more time

by Benyamin on

You are missing the point

This has nothing to do with Zartosht being a good or bad religion. It has everything to do with IRI which is controling the mass through a tool called Islam.

To change religion means to send a striong message that we do have choces to choose other than that of Islam and that we are not enslaved to the IRI just because the majority are muslims. So those who dismiss it and wont participate all I am asking is to contemplate and think about it. It is a political move and not religious.

Don`t get entagled with what you have or what you should believ in. It is all political and not religious. I don`t think I can be more clear than that.

Thank you

by pedro on

Did any one ever told you you sound like a broken record. Let go of the negative energy. Read the proposal one more time and respond accordingly and educated. No one is expecting a quick response from you. Take your time, but promise to read the post at least twice. Take deep breath, try to calm down, count to 10 and drink a glass of cold water.Thank you.

Ok, where were we? oh yes, this is a brilliant Idea. Actually if we can invite the Zoroastrian priest to travel to major cities in Europe and America and have an stadium filled with people for him to perform his ceremony and convert all. What do you think Benyamin?

Oh really read this and watch the video

The orthodox members of the Bombay Parsee Panchayat who want to prosecute Dhun Baria for 'exposing' the truth about the towers of silence

and what did  Dhun Baria do and who she was?

How to honour the dead

With vultures disappearing from India, the Parsi practice of disposing of the dead is in danger.Ashalata Samuel on 65-year-old Dhun Bharia’s single-handed campaign against this ancient death rite, which is guarded zealously by most Parsis

//www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20070114/spectrum...

There is a radical in any religion and already I know that some progressive Zoroastrian had taken action in India against it ......  but when you are dealing with religion you should be careful cause no religion is immune of its radicals ...........

Now stop following me blog by blog  . get a life

Re: Proposal

by Benyamin on

I don`t think those that are opposing this proposal for various reasons have understood what this would do to the IRI as a religious entity!

This proposal has nothing to do with if you truly believe in God or not, it has nothing to do with if you believe in islam or not! This is a symbolic move to show "the greatest" dislike with what the Mollahs are doing to our culture, to our humanity, to our lives, to our language and heritage.

Please don`t get side tracked with  pros and cons about Zartosht but the fact that this proposal is meerly a political move.

Those who are debating Zartosh as a religion good or bad are topically irelevant to this proposal.

Houston we have a problem

by Soosan Khanoom on

They can not bury their dead  because it would pollute the ground which this religion hold holy, ..............and  they cannot burn and cremate them like the Hindu's do because it will pollute the air. As the result  the dead will be taken to The Towers of Silence for their rite of passage.............. There their flesh is devoured by hungry dogs and then take up a high hill to be picked upon in the Towers of Silence by buzzards, ............then they are swept into a pit of whatever remains that way their bones decay... A problem with this is that there is already a shortage of buzzards that makes it difficult to dispose of the remains .......... now just imagine everyone in Iran converts to this religion ....... I have no idea what the outcome would be .........  : )

Benyamin: that's a fantastic idea and slap in the face of Islamists. It would be symbolic gesture of epic proportion that might save Iran  our heritage, and ultimately even Isalm... from  the claws of political Islam purists.

What makes you think people want to change from one religion to another to get Democracy? Please let us not repeat past stupid mistakes and tell people what religion to chose, and what is Persian, etc. Please get out of this mindset.

Parsi New Year celebration in Delhi

Orthodox Parsi traditions dictate that children born of mixed marriages are not automatically members of the community. That's also part of the reason they are now a dying community.

This is an awesome Proposal. Yes to that my friend. I'm with you. This would be a slap in the face of rapist islamist hostage taker in Iran. As I said repeatedly before, for some of us this is a every day struggle to come up with a solution to free our brothers and sisters. To free our country. For some, its all about writing a fancy paragraph indicating how well versed they are in the art of English language. while a few just beat the negative drum day in day out. While it is OK to be force fed every day all over the world in plays on  movie screens, TV. school books and college history books, the Roman glorious past, England glorious past, etc.  but the Persian glorious past is garbage, and " Delusional Nonsense " don't sell your soul cheep.

Stop Execution and torture of Iranians in Islamic regime Prisons

Benyamin

Proposal:

by Benyamin on

Throughout our history we have changed our religion nationally for different pruposes a few times. I propose to start a campagne to convert from Islam to Zartosht soully for a political purpose when there is not much we can do to support our bretheren in Iran in their struggle with the Islamist fascists.

I believe if we convert in massive numbers and in symbolically in few majore cities like London, New York, Los Anjeles, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Washigton DC. San Franfransisco, Vancouver, Berlin, Paris and stokholm and so on. we will send a message to the Iranian Mollahs that pressure will only make us to persue different avenue and that Iran doesnot belong only to few fanatic Muslims that now control all of Irans wealth.

They are killing and torturing in the name of Islam and as much as we hang on Islam and still cry "allah o akbar" is an incentive to the IRI. I believe we need to show and stage the biggest protest ever to the IRI this is a bloodless and peaceful protest but the one that hurts the IRI in its core and entirely.

My fellow Iranians, almost every Iranian in Iran knows or has a relative outside of Iran, if we manage to do this that means every Iranian knows someone that is no longer muslim and that will effect the decision the IRI will make "automatically".

Think about it.

Let's Prove 2+2 =4, Why not?

Lost history? Wonderful culture? All Persian Traditions Revival? Getting rid of Arabic Islamic culture? Zoroastrian baptizing for all? And go on with the "delusional nonsense" to run away with the major issues of the 21th century & to realize that "the glorious past" is thing of the past & the "precious present" is what we have. How about beginning with our own minds baptization?
