Victor Ostrovsky, a former Senior Mossad* Case Officer admits that Israel worked behind the scenes to ensure that Iraqis killed Iranians and that the Iraq/Iran war dragged on for as long as possible.  Over 1,000,000 men, women and children died after Saddam Hussein attempted to annex South-Western Iran in the 1980s in a war that dragged on for over 8 years.  The war included the use of chemical weapons by Saddam Hussein (then a U.S. ally) against civilian Iranian populations and Iraqi-Kurds.      * Mossad is Israel's spy agency.

Since Emam Khomeini continued the war from 1982-1988,

and since most of the death and destruction occurred during those 6 years (when Emam wanted to "liberate" Karbala before "liberating" Qods), one must be very suspicious that Emam might have been a Mossad agent himself. Who made Emam finally agree to end the war and "drink the poisoned chalice"? Perhaps Mossad?
