Love it!

I have never thought about an African influence. But the south definitley has a different beat than the rest of the ethnic groups in Iran. I love it! I love all of them.

There's a lot of Africa in Iran!

by Hoshang Targol on

We have Iranians as black as African, speaking fluent Persian.

As far as :"It seems that it has stemmed from the African music and dance but its rough edges been smoothed out with the fantastic and poetic Iranian culture." Respectfully, me thinks it's the other way around,

yannie: African rythms and melodies have taken out the rough edges out of "Persian" sounds.

Remeber, humanity, all human beings, as we know ourselves, began in Africa ( somewhere around Ethiopia...) the same goes for music, dance,...

just think about: Jazz, Afro-Cubano Salsa, Son,...

Amazing Iran...

embracing various ethnicity and cultures...I have never looked at the Bushehri music and dance from the African angle. It seems that it has stemmed from the African music and dance but its rough edges been smoothed out with the fantastic and poetic Iranian culture.
