When Salman Rushdie was whiling away the hours in hiding after his fatwa was issued, he could scarcely have imagined that 23 years later a) he would be alive and b) the Iranians would release a video game called The Stressful Life of Salman Rushdie and the Implementation of his Verdict, in which players set about acting on Ayatollah Khomeini’s death warrant. Rushdie is presumably chased from literary party to catwalk after-party with an attractive woman on his arm (in a fetching head-to-toe number, of course, for this is Iran) ducking to avoid YOU, the Islamist, hellbent on destroying him>>>

اسلام راستینی که شریعتی عرضه می کند پوسته ای از اسلام است که آن را با مارکسیسم و یکی دو مد روشنفکرانه دیگر غرب انباشته باشند. داستان خری که در پوست شیر رفت همه شنیده ایم اما باید گفت در این جا حیوان دوم مزیتی بر اولی ندارد. این کار وی به بدعت های فراوانی در زمینۀ دین انجامیده و باعث شده تا همه چیز را از اصول دین و کلماتی نظیر توحید گرفته تا عدل و قسط و اجماع و عقل و سنت و آیه مورد تجدید نظر قرار بدهد و معانی و مصداق های جدیدی برایشان بتراشد>>>

I can claim confidently that out of the official statistic of 98% of so-called Muslims in Iran, a great percentage of them are what I call Muslims by default, an army of pretenders. Since they are born into a Muslim family and raised in Iran, they inherit the family’s religion and thus automatically become Muslim. Had they been born in a Western country to a Christian family, they would have been Christian for sure>>>
