Ye pa do pa.
by KouroshS (not verified) on Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:47 AM PSTwell, well, well. I did not know there was a human right activists convention going on in town.
You did not read my posting closely, did you?
I did not oppose the right to have a fair trial, all i said was that on the scene of the crime, no one can make a ruling, because no one has all the facts. The police has to follow a certain set of procedures and unfortunately, if they face any form of resistance, they will get down and dirty with you, in iran or usa.
Again, i am not defending beating and injuring in public, But come on, do you want to serve coffee and dougnut and offer a hot shower, to someone who has just committed a crime in your own neighborhood , or would you rather see the cops take him away by any means possible?
Let's see if then you will scream and shout in defense of his or her rights.

by hajiagha on Thu Nov 13, 2008 11:58 PM PSTyou rung

The unfortunate issue is
by daryooush (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 11:45 PM PSTThe unfortunate issue is that there are some that feel the solution to crimes is punishment.

Hey kouroshs
by Ye pa Do pa (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 10:42 PM PSTHave you ever heard of a trial…innocent until proven guilty? How about civility? And so what if cops in Detroit/DC/NY that act in a barbaric manner, an animal is an animal regardless of what country they're in. It's absolutely unnecessary to punish someone with that type of force and brutality, especially if the alleged perpetrator is tied up and defenseless.
Nadiash. Really? you wonder
by kouroshs (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 10:17 PM PSTNadiash.
Really? you wonder how iranian became this way? let me ask you something, do you wonder how police in detroit or dc or ny , who beat the crap out of basically whomever they want to, became they way they are as well?
Irandoost1901
They may not have any proof right there at the scene whether this guy is any of those criminals you mentioned, But then again neitherdo cops in US and look how they chase and gang up on black and mexicans for various reasons. I agree that the cop was a little too harsh, but i definitely agree with concerned iranian's opinion that some roughness is absolutely necessary to put the real criminals in their places.
Iva
what does police brutality have anything to iran becoming a prosperous nation? and if there really is no law and order in iran, don't you think someone ought to something about it? Don't you see enough brutality in modern countries as well? and given that victims of such brutalities have the right to sue the police, what percentage of the cases do you think really come out successful? The maximum a cop gets is a few weeks of suspension, and the courts do their best to make sure the police wins their cases. That is the bottom line.
Another thing, You are mixing the case of akhoonds and the higher ups with the necessity of having effective and useful law enforcment. Concerned iranian is right cops gotta do what they gotta do. At least the criminals will be forced to think twice before they act.
It doesn’t matter where in
by nadiash (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 09:47 PM PSTIt doesn’t matter where in Iran this is or what the guy did. We are watching a brutal act by police officers and this is not acceptable no matter where. Sometimes I wonder how Iranians became this way.
"dedicated to do his job"
by Iva (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 08:24 PM PST6 people have posted their opinion already … 2 of them condoning the brutal and unlawful act of police while 4 stated their disgust. To me, that approximately equals to 33% of Iranians who have lived in West and are accustomed to rule of law, favor no law where anyone with a gun and power can do as they please, in other words the exact situation that exists in Iran today. That is why, I believe, I will not see a prosperous Iran, not in my lifetime. Number of Iranians who have been brain washed to believe that Iranians need to be hit on the head in order to make them “behave” and accept that humiliation as a part of everyday life is simply too many.
One poster says, [policeman] is dedicated to his job … so, I guess we should send a thank you notes to likes of Lajvardi, the butcher of Evin, and Islamic clerics in Iran for acts such as hanging teenagers in Iran because clerics are truly “dedicated to their jobs”!!!
The other person is simply ignorant, there’s no choice but to ignore him … Basij commanders did such a number on him that even they won’t take him back.
Dispeakable
by Irandoost1901 (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 07:41 PM PSTHajiagha, I have an idea. Why don't you leave Vancouver and go to a place where the very same officers who are charged as protectors of people act with such disgusting contempt.
This man could be a thief, a rapist, a drug-dealer, or even a murderer. The police should absolutely NOT be so violent in their treatment of him. This is torture at its finest. And, to even do so without due process whereby he is actually found guilty of the crime first by a court of law...
Anyone who can watch this tape and not cringe is made of the same ilk as the Bush and Cheney of the world, with no respect for laws and no regard for human beings.
It is ironic
by bahram9821 on Thu Nov 13, 2008 07:58 PM PSTLet's not judge!
by Concerned Iranian (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 06:50 PM PSTWe have no idea what he did. It does seem that he was some sort of a thief because they found the money on him. In a country that that theft, motorcycle riding robbers, and home invasion is rampant, this cop is doing something about it. I certainly do not agree with the awful method he uses, but he seems dedicated to do his job as a cop. Sometimes thieves will become quite scared when they know something like this is awaiting them.
rodney king Iranian style
by MRX1 (not verified) on Thu Nov 13, 2008 06:46 PM PSTToo bad the victim is not in U.S to sue these cops for millions. of course some one needs to tell these cop wanna be what a real cop is and how a real cop should behave, but that's a story for another times...
