This could be the second Mashrooteh revolution - Long live our freedom fighters. For me, it has been 32 years of seperation but my people my heart is with you more than ever.

Ali - Those who know not history are doomed to repeat it
by ramintork on Thu Jun 18, 2009 02:22 AM PDTNo one shouted Viva La France when they had the American revolution either but it was the ripple of the French revolution that made it possible.
In the same manner there are similarities in people fighting against absolutism and for citizen's rights and the movement starting from ground up rather than from the top that makes this movement echo the Constitutional revolution.
The reason why it doesn't reflect the revolution 30 years ago is because no one (unfortunately) in this campaign at least is shouting for the Ayatollah's to be toppled they are asking for their vote and citizen's basic rights and the brutality of the regime is closer (or worst) than the Ghajars.
I don't think analysing History is living in the past, it simply means you have a model for current events which may prove to be a good or bad model.
As for the wave! As a republican I have been active in one form or another against this regime for many years and despite living outside Iran for 32 years I have and do genuinely feel for our people.
Riding the wave?
by ali_UK on Wed Jun 17, 2009 05:56 AM PDTI do not recall anyone calling for "mashroteh saltanati" in any of these demonstrations?!
There was a regime change over 30 years ago.Yes it was 30 years ago.The new generation do not have a point of reference and are not trapped in time ( like a vast no of pre-revolution Iranians outside Iran ).
They just want plain democracy and social justice. They do not need any excess baggage in the name of monarchy ( whatever form it is defind as ).
ABSOLUTELY !
