PLEASE don't go! (Rosie and more)

Rosie T. (aka Robin G) is an ally of Iran, Iranians and Iranian.com. I wasn't a big fan of her "neuratic" writing pattern at first. But over the last few months I have come to realize she's something very special and extremely rare. Now she is on her way out.

I was going to ignore this at first. What's it to me some woman on a blog is having issues... Why should I care. But this is a place I have been spending so much of my time lately: writing, researching, responding, fighting... even if you spend a couple of hours a week on this site catching up and contributing, you can't help but keep track of people. It's like they're your co-workers on a part-time job (with no pay!) you can't help but be curious. Like it or not, JJ has kicked up this site a notch. It is now an honest-of-god "community," a cyber village or 'dehkadeh' if you will. It's time we realize this, at least those of us who visit this site on daily basis.

The more I thought about it, the more it became obvious to me why this Rosie thing is so significant. I don't actually know what all happened.... There was some nasty stuff written about her. She was in an argument with Nadias. Mazloom was involved and erased a blog. I don't know the full story, but I don't really care.

The important thing is someone like Rosie is leaving this site. We are driving away friends and allies with our extreme cynicism. This a community that can't afford to lose friends right now.

Consider Rosie T. She is increadibly intelligent, well read and articulate. She's a New York Jew who is in love with our country, dispite everything in the year 2008. At a time when most Americans can't find Iran on a map, or don't know the difference between Iranian or Iraqi, she has taken the time to study our language, understand our culture and help build our online community. She has so many qualities I think we wished we also had, at least speaking for myself. Like she's increadibly open and humble, very forgiving and has the ability to find common ground with anybody.

That last one is a trait that is just not in our blood, but maybe we can start to aquired it.

This is my plea to Rosie to read this and consider coming back to this site. I won't be like JJ and patronizingly say "you WILL be back soon", as I recall he did to someone else (also, I recall he was right). But I am officiaaly asking.

So please. Let's take a break from the usual "sectarian conflict" on this blog and come together to help welcome back someone we all know we need in our cyberlife. Let this be a collective way of saying please don't go! If she decides not to come back, this can be a place we can remember her for one last time and bid a fond adieu as she makes herself a brand new account on Arabian.com!

But I'm hopeful she will at least consider it. If we make it worth her while to read these comments.

(For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, go to this page and read Rosie's writings: //iranian.com/main/member/rosie-t )

Thank You.

this is CRUCIAL: (and basic)

I was active here on blogging between October and end January. This is a time those of us who remember refer to as "The Wild Wild West."  It is a time when jj puirposely maintained a strictly hands-off policy on ALL blogging issues, including (no shit) death threats, because he didn't even read the threads because as he told me himself privately "I can't deal with those conversations under the articles." And who could blame him, a civil libertarian (btw also trying to make up in some way for the ten years he spent as as a press employee of Khomeini) ...he dared not GO THERE...he wanted COMPLETE free speech...he HOPED against HOPE things would work themselves out.    But he SAW how things were degenerating and he THANKED me privately for working (with Nadia btw together) as one of the few self-appointed sheriffs so to speak.  He said:  "They need mediation." And they sure did, and they needed CONSTANT remindings of the workings of the website too. It was a MESS.  It was CHAOS incarnate.  ANYONE who was here then will vouch for me.

Now I wasn't here at all from start February until a month ago So sometimes I just do what I used to do, what jj and others ENCOURAGED and thanked me and others for doing, to give certain advice, certain reminders, when it's no longer needed because I haven't quite adjusted to how different things are.  Something like "old habits die hard."  Something like "man is a creature of habit."  That's ALL it is. REALLY. It's THAT simple.  Trust me.  It's far less ASSININE than you think.  It's far less ARBITRARY or COMPULSIVE than you think.

Hajiagha come back!

by Mazloom on

I have noticed that Hajiagha has left for a while and has not come back yet. I believe he is stronger than all of us, so far.

I believe “Anonymous” is now using “Internets” for his username.

Hajiagha I love you!

Anonymous I love you!

Disclaimer: When I said I love you, I meant it in a platonic way.  What I just declared is only an expression of Christian Love, not that I’m a Christian, or any other religion. Or, that Christianity is the only religion that has monopoly on love. I am a non-ideological atheist, but contrary to common belief we are also capable of love.

Thanks for expessing your feelings.I believe loosing Rosie(for whatever reason.i.e.Personal or Professional),would be a great loss for us on this forum.I donot care if she is a"Chatter Box", or drowns herself carelessly in every topic here, tells poeple what to do or......

I myself donot agree with some of here writings, but as I asked "somebody" before on this site;when she wanted to leave us: we need "Pros & Cons" to be active here.It is not the case of a certain person[Rosie],it is loosing a voice here.

Even loosing our friend " RedWine",who constantly copy/paste (despite many times being told by JJ ) would be a loss for us.

Best Wishes

apologist translation

by Mazloom on

I agree with Q that this site is a "cyber village", but I would not translate "village" into "dehkadeh". You see, it does not matter how hard apologist translators like him try to sugar coat this issue; in this context "dehkadeh" is not a good translation for "village". The reality is, what we here is a cyber dehat and we are a bunch of dehati.

Rosie I love you!

P.S.  It takes a dehati to raise a chicken.

Problem with Rosie is that

by TheMrs on

Problem with Rosie is that she talks too much. That by itself isn't a crime. I talk too much too. But she just won't stop lectureing everybody and telling everyone how iranian.com works. "Email JJ about this", "admin does it this way", "this is a forum for blabla". VAH VAH bezar bereh dige already...

Good luck Rosie, you were fun for a while before you went all wierd. And a word of advice. I've been immersed in other cultures too. At the time it was because of a relationship with a non iranian. Then the motherfucker dumped me. I moved on. It's not healthy to be iranian obsessed.

i agree 100% with you on this topic. if we think of this site as a beautiful colorful painting and let the different colors that give life to this painting disappear one by one then all we are left with is the gray canvas. will we be happier then?  we must respect everyone's view and being. we must treasure people for what they have in them that they offer us rather than the the things that they miss. live and let live and celebrate diversity of thought and opinion. these diversities are the bold and vibrant colors of our colorful painting giving it that extra "wumph" and life. rosie jan i will be happy if you change your mind and stay.

Thank you very much Qumars, I am both honored and moved.

that you wrote this about me.  As you know from my "good-bye" blog, it was my original itntenition not to discuss this publicly (except with the goldfish on my blog who couldn't reach me privately).  But since it is both your wish and your right to open up this discussion publicly, I will definitely participate in it IF others in the community feel it is important enough.

Thanks again
