Soul, humor, and love--Emad Shadzi's exhibition in Paris

I had the pleasure of meeting Iranian painter, cartoonist, and filmmaker Emad Shadzi in San Francisco a couple of years ago. There was something playful and full of light about him and his paintings. I showed pictures of some of his works to Jahanshah and he featured them on Iranian.com.

Just like any other Iranian anywhere else in the world, the disputed 2009 presidential election left its mark on Emad Shadzi. He felt just as outraged and betrayed as the rest of us felt, and he turned his anger into art. His cartoons show the same playfulness as his paintings do, but in his works you can also see our nation's collective outrage and our continued hope for a day when our votes are finally counted.

I would like to show you a short video of some of Emad Shadzi's cartoons about elections. Actually, the message in these cartoons is universal, and could be about any country where people are wondering: "Where Is My Vote?!" If you live in Paris, make sure you catch Emad Shadzi's exhibition May 8 through May 22, 2011 at:

How I wish I could be there! I know it will be a good exhibition of Emad's various works. Please go and take your friends, too! When I come to Paris to visit kin and friends later this fall, you will be one of the first people I will call! Coffee with you in Paris sounds divine Darius Jan!

Will try to go and see it. I know Abbas Bakhtiary of the Pouya Cultural Center and they often have interesting exhibits.

This one is indeed worth seeing.

If you are in town drop me an email ... we can have a coffee !

Cheers,

DK

(not the paintings featured.)

Best Wishes to the cartoonist, whose hard work towards "simplicity" doesn't go unnoticed
