This week's discussion on BBC radio's "In Our Time" was on the history and legacy of the Safavid era. Listen online or download as podcast. Other episodes of that program related to the Iranian legacy would be the one from 11/07 on Avicenna (Ibn Sina) and the one from 12/07 on the Sassanids. Since the Safavid program mentions the development of Isfahan during that period, a visual accompaniment could be the several pages of 3-D panoramic images of that city at 360cities. (As you realize, each image can be rotated in 3-D either through the controls or by click-hold-drag of the mouse.)
