One thing was sacred!

Let me start telling you that like the vast majority of Iranians I oppose the mere existence of the IRI, as a regime or establishment or whatever you may want to call it. I am saying this so you don't think I'm an IRI brainwashed supporter, although it's left to you to believe me.

This site's motto is: Nothing is sacred. I agree with that with 'one' exception. Nevertheless; there's one thing that I would consider 'sacred' and that is what some of our dear compatriots did selflessly and that was, defending their homeland against a foreign invasion. An invasion supported by the west and others and literally ignored by the rest including the UN.  In those days we only had ourselves to defend our country. Unlike the last Iraq war and following invasion, nobody seemed to care about us. The only people who truly cared were those who didn't hesitate a second to do whatever they could to stop the enemy. Their means were limited and precarious but yet they did what they did bravely and honestly. This cannot be but sacred. This has happened and it's happening elsewhere around teh world, people that consider their first and foremost duty to defend their dignity and home.  The clip below. is a tribute to those fellow Iranians who lost their lives so the rest of us would be safe and sound. Please don't let some religious aspects of this clip to awaken your grudge against a regime that we all despise. It has nothing to do with them and everything to do with us. In the memory of our friends:

Remembrance Day!

by Maryam Hojjat on

In future after IRI we must have a remembrance day for those who lost their lives to defend our mother land IRAN.  That is the least we can do to tribute to them.

Will always remember

by Iva (not verified) on

those who sacrificed the ultimate to defend the motherland.

Keep in mind that countless members of arm forces at that time lost their lives "not defending" the country, but because they were used to fulfill ayatooleh khomeini's wish of capturing Karbala (there were a few reminders in the clip). It saddens me to see how moslem clerics use average ignorance to achieve their sick goals. In my opinion, same same clerics see their survival in yet another war, I sure hope another war doesn't take place.

It's worthy to mention about thousands of underaged soldiers too.

I agree

Dear Jamshid

I totally agree with you. We should also mention members of the zoroastrian and armenian-Iranian among many non-basiji volunteers that defended our country. This has never been mentioned by the regime either. Our pilots (at the time all trained by the previous pahlevi monarchy) did miracles during the first phase of the war.  Now the other aspect that we should always bear in mind about those years, is the fact that the country was defended in a very unique and yet sad situation, the armed forces literally decapitated, specially the air force after the Nojeh coup and the entire nation in a state of caos but yet we Iranians managed to defend our country against an enemy that was backed by everyone in weaponery and intelligence. Many did sacrifices, Pasdaran, basijis, regular armed forces, and average citizens. The war took its heavy toll and that's why I personally think that no matter what, we should all be united against any military action against our country as its consequences would be dire and very counterproductive in the long run.

This video is a tribute to

by jamshid on

This video is a tribute to pasdar and basij. They do deserve a tribute as they fearlessly made many sacrifices during the war.

I just wish that the IRI's propaganda films wouldn't simply ignore the sacrifices made by members of the regular army and members of special operation units.

They are ignored by the IRI because they were the remains of the Shah's Imperial Army. However without their sacrifice and contribution, pasdar and basij alone could never drive the Iraqis out of Khuzestan.

The IRI tries diligently to hide this from the people of Iran, specially from the younger generations, and it had succeeded in doing so. Just test yourself: When you imagine an act of "sacrifice" during the war with Iraq, in your mind you automatically visualize a religious pasdar or basiji. You wouldn't see a clean shaven member of the regular army. Kuddos to the IRI's propaganda mashine.

Ask yourself where are the pictures of the members of the regular army? Or members of the special operations units? They were at least one third of Iran's armed forces. They deserve better than being forgotten in favor of pasdar and basij.

I hate the IRI for their biased prejiduce and for their games of deceptions.

I hope one day, the people of Iran will remember that we owe as much, if not more, to those forgotten soldiers that the IRI has wiped off our nation's memory.

P.S. The above remarks are not to say that the pasdars and basijis were any less than other units. Those pasdars and basijis will always be special. I just wish that the IRI would not be so biased against other units of Iran's armed forces during the war.
