I recently spent some time visiting my dearest friend in Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm is somewhere I never thought about going to before.. but Im happy I went and it's interesting and worth a visit, although in contrast to London I found it a little difficult to get around. If you plan to visit, go in the spring or summer.
Anyway.. the reason I am writing this is because I noticed the number of Iranian supermarkets and easy availability of Iranian food products is greater there than in London! Or so it seems. Am i looking in the wrong places? I thought I was pretty well informed, but maybe Im missing somewhere.
Really, I was like a kid in a toy shop there (a little sad I know) and almost had to be dragged away! You can buy anything and almost everything there and all under one roof! Unlike here where I have to visit a number of stores. Even then, the availability is often spasmodic and usually expensive (never mind that).
I dont understand why it's like this ... as far as Im aware, there are more Iranians in the UK than in Sweden! Ok they might be more spread out here, living all over the UK rather than all concentrated in one area, which really was kind of nice. Actually you almost forgot where you were!
So calling all UK based Iranians ... do you know some where I dont? Please tell me. We really need a central website for these things providing information about food stores, restaurants and concerts/entertainment. Perhaps you know of one??

If you know of any French music stations, please do let me know. I also need to improve my French. It has been about 20 years since my last French class. :o)

by Nadias on Sat Jul 05, 2008 12:18 PM PDTI do listen to Iranian music on the internet because I have not found a local station in Houston: Darvish, Iranianradio and bia2.com.
I also purchased some language software: 101 languages and it includes Farsi. I totally agree that listening to Farsi will help in producing certain sounds like "kh", "gh" among others. I already have the "kh" sound down.

PS: I just love stopping by one of the local Persian restaurants for some very delicious Persian food. :o)

by javaneh29 on Sat Jul 05, 2008 04:54 AM PDTYour story is an intersting one thank you for sharing it.
I could tell you many thngs about what it is that is so alluring about Irani men but im not going to do that publicly! They are too vain as it is! but if you are really intersted then I am happy to do so outside of this arena.
As for Irani cooking ...ahh it is the best food in all the world and again Im happy to help you learn other dishes too. Just shout .. im sure many here would help.
I was recently helping someone to speak english and one of the best ways to learn another language is to be bold and practice. Ok so you might make mistakes but you learn. watching films, listening to music all helps.
Good for you x

Once upon a time..........
by Nadias on Sat Jul 05, 2008 03:52 AM PDTdue to all the misinformation on the Middle East, I decided to find out for myself what was the truth. I became a seeker of knowledge and understanding.
I signed up for a language exchange web site and the first person to contact me was an Iranian young woman. I then refocused my resources to learn as much as I could about Iran and Iranians.
Next thing you know, I found myself submitting articles, blogs and poetry on iranian.com. :o)
It was not easy debating against Iranian men. I'm sure you know how they love to win a debate. hahaha I had never experienced anything like it before.
As a matter of fact, it is how I ended up meeting Rosie T, on this web site. At first, we were pretty much the only women debating them and slowly other women joined in. Thank goodness too. I was exhausted.
I have found that I am more attracted to Iranian men than to any other ethnic group. I'm still not completely sure why. It is why I am trying to find out, what is so special about them. I realize that men have some universal truths about them, as discussed in the relationship blog but there seems to be something that I just can't exactly figure out.
I have been slowly learning Farsi. I currently only know a few words and phrases but one day I will be fluent. :o) I already learned how to cook Persian rice and Ghormeh Sabzi.
I have never been to Iran but I have seen pictures on the web of many places in Iran. I do want to visit Iran. Actually, the day that I do, I want to be there at least a month.
Best,

by javaneh29 on Sat Jul 05, 2008 03:25 AM PDTOkee I see now that you are two separate women. I think my confusion came about because I knew both of you are not Irani, but for some reasons are very much interested with all things Irani. You both post poetry, your pictures are a little similar too. Sometimes even when I thought you were the same person, I realised that your views differed at times and thought this woman is a little schizophrenic in her opions and style ... hahaha!!!!! it makes sense now i understand that you are infact two different people.
So Nadia please tell me why you are so interested in Iranian things , issues , men ....etc. I think is really nice and I wish more people were like this. Have you been there sometime? Would you like to go sometime? I am curious !
best wishes

I decided to post a comment with it on your thread because I have uploaded a picture of me, so that you could see, who I am. If I upload it on my current account then I would lose my beautiful avatar forever. I hope it is okay. :o)

This will give you a better idea of who we are. If you check out our blogs and articles, you will also see that we have different perspectives on life. We do agree on some things but we have a different angle on it. :o)
Actually, there have been several people that have thought that Rosie and I are the same person. So, once upon a time we both had a picture of ourselves as our avatar.
Would you be able to tell me why people sometimes think we are the same person? I really don't see it. Thanks! :o)
PS: It will take a couple of days for my avatar to show a picture of me. I hope it is not too scary. hahaha

Attari is about an 11 hour flight west of you. (Maybe that wasn't such a grand suggestion after all...)
Wondering..
by javaneh29 on Tue May 06, 2008 01:53 AM PDTHmmm..... I'm wondering what british culture you refer to! Actually I am british myself by birth and you're right .. it is too dull and cold.
Where is Attari?? and maybe i will come and visit although I can not promise to turn any tides.

Attari
by wondering (not verified) on Sun May 04, 2008 02:54 PM PDTI hate to think this, but could it be that a dull british culture is effecting our community in England?
Come visit attari for a few sentimental ideas, then use your fine taste and good looks to turn the tide in England.
This may just be the new calling.
