These days everyone is trying to sell gold and silver. Aside from gold, what is the best investment (I know gold is not an actual currency)? Where are we supposed to be putting our money these days? Is there any stable currency left in the world?

Europe is on fire, the United States is China's toilet, and the Middle East is basically a playground that you'd better not take seriously. Yesterday I read that the IMF is begging for a new world reserve currency. Move over dollar!

What is really going on? Do any of you have your money hidden somewhere safe that you are willing to discuss and share? I guess if I have to ask this, it means that I'm in big trouble. Thank you for any crumbs you can send my way.

P.S. Last week, 23 CIA officers were convicted in Italy over their fun in the sky rendition program. Torture is being taken seriously in Italy? No wonder their economy is in trouble. Don't mess with the war on terror.

No studies to date have indicated environmental issues resulting in specific health issues. It is easy to jump on the bandwagon and see what one wants to see.

And please stop demonising Timothy Floyd.

I agree with COP. And please remember Iranians have hanged innocents and continue to do so. The same poster you have recommended has advocated ethnic cleansing on Bahais. So much for the Persian mind that "advises" on solutions and criticises other religions and cultures ... this is where we are at.

BUT you guys in your own gigantic stupidity have unwittingly given a thoroughly undeserved credibility to these people in the West. Had your system and its leaders not been as idiotic as they are and had they simply ignored these people completely and left them alone, or, if you insisted on taking extreme measures, as humanely as possible just expelled them from Iran without any incident, there would never be an excuse handed to this community to spearhead claims about your leaders' HR violations in Western circles. After all who would take a group of utopians seriously who want to take over the world? You see, you people are dumb as doorknobs and are exactly like these Baha'is in your own way, and as such, given this, you people are directly responsible for what they are representing to the eyes of the West today. This is your regime's unwitting Frankenstein monster...

Your Sunday school catechism brainwashing is pretty evident. You don't know what you are talking about, hon. Institutional Christianity (what Martin Luther King Jnr. called Churchianity) has proven itself the most violent and intolerant genocidal cult in all human history outshining in intolerant vileness and violence anything Islam currently stands accused of. Your religion was responsible for the wholesale genocide of hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Indigenous First World peoples throughout the planet, from Central, South and North America to Africa, Australasia, Siberia, etc. Can you show me when Islam has committed this level of cultural and ethnic genocide as you Christians have in the name of Christ in four corners of the earth?

Modern fundamentalist Islamism is a corruption, aberration and so betrayal of the Islamic Tradition. As far as I am concerned, all variety of Islamist fundamentalists, from Khomeinists to the Wahhabis, Taliban, al-CIA-duh and similar, are one and all heretics and so infidels to the True Faith which is Tawhid (the Unicity of the Divine)! Tawhid is the core message of true, integral Islam, and its representatives today (such as the Sufis, esoteric Twelver Shi'ites and Isma'ilis) are being relentlessly persecuted by these Islamists everywhere.

As for shar'ia law being imposed on your country: you have nothing to fear or worry about here because that will never happen. Unless your Pat Robertsons or Jerry Falwells decide to take over your government and impose a Christian Republic of America, secularism and the separation of church/mosque/synagogue and state is here to stay. The concept of the shar'ia itself, not to mention its scope, is open to wide interpretation since integrally it is supposed to merely govern the conduct of Muslims only in their 1) social this-worldly activities with each other and 2) in their manner of approach/conduct to/with the Divine, i.e. how to pray, when to fast, to give money, aid and succor to the poor and needy, pilgrimage, etc. That is core integral shar'ia. Beyond this there is nothing else but the wiley conceits and fabricated innovations of politician clergy, who just like in Christianity, have become a disease and cancer to the True Faith.

That said,  in the future I suggest you educate yourself a little before taking such ignorant and sweeping positions indicting an entire Tradition without knowing anything but current hype about it while lumping everyone into the same camp. Take care of your own house and rid it of the weeds of Christian fundamentalism, and leave our house alone allowing us to take care of our own garden to prune our own weeds out. And if at any time we need your help, like a good neighbor, don't impose yourself until you are invited.

Ya NUR

It's pretty easy, actually

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

Despite sentimental your value for Iraq, it's the same war, different darkies.

Listen to yourself "If I had to choose between living in Iraq or Iran." What the hell are you talking about? Is that supposed to mean anything? You are an American. You have 50 states to choose from. By the look of it, this country needs you more than Iraq. But those darkies are just too fun to control, right? Why would you even want to live in Iraq? Or Iran? What is it with you neocons and your obsession with these countries? Is America that boring and unattractive? The problems in this country are so many, it's no wonder why.

Rethink your "personal choices" and take your head out of the sand.... Iraq's sand.

People in your family "were there." The bombed Iraqis were there too, minus the 100 pounds of gear and weapons. America deserves what is happening in Iraq, just as it deserved the defeat in Vietnam. NOW, if I had to choose between living in the USA and Vietnam.....

haha. Homeland security is knocking!

It's not the Same thing Marge

by timothyfloyd on

I don't know how you can think the state of Iraq was comparable.Something amicable like the USA and Canada I could imagine. And personally Marge, people in my family were over there during the invasion.

Iraqi's are taking care of themselves now pretty much on their own.I know you don't like to hear any 'big boogie man usa news ' but you're losing touch with what's actually happening in Iraq, one could refer as 'still in saigon'..

Honestly,If I had to make a personal choice today to live in Iraq or Iran,it would be Iraq hands down.

No it wasn't Maziar Jan

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

And I'm glad you mentioned it because it's the favorite evidence of the Neo-Conservatives. It's also an attempt to re-write history.

Clinton was VERY open to receiving Osama when they offered him to the USA. The gifted and talented Republican Party refused Osama and made such a political game of the thing, proving that national security has NOTHING to do with what they are interested in, that Clinton refused Osama. Newt Gingrich was at the head of that political game. They said it would be a waste of taxpayer money. Oh how times change. 80 billion a month to find a ghost named Osama is OK, however.

Those funny Republicans. Always playing tricks.

Clinton obviously walked into the Republicans' trap. He was also trying to protect his VP for the upcoming elections. Then USS Cole happened and the Republicans blamed Clinton again..... after they made such a fuss about bringing that bearded ghost into the states to begin with. Jerks can't make up their minds.

Timmy, when you send your babies and mother into Iraq

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

Come back and tell me this. Imagine if a foreign nation invaded the states and said "bow down to our rules." LOL. Sovereignty doesn't count when you're talking about a bunch of darkies.

Again, even by breaking the rules and dumping acid on them (Vietnam), the USA always has its butt handed to it on a silver platter by these "terrists" and "insurgents." Occupation always fails baby.

And the rules vice a versa are?

by timothyfloyd on

It's the contractors who are doing the dirty work.... no rules!

Referee Marge Why are there 'rules' for people fighting terrorist's but no rules for the terrorists?

At what point do you realize what you are defending?

Yea they're really crippled

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

So "towelheads" who don't even have wifi have kept the military awfully busy for almost a decade. Amazing. I feel sorry for the young people fighting in the name of the BS you sit and write. Most of them are just playing nintendo and making youtube videos. It's the contractors who are doing the dirty work.... no rules!

Don't worry Timmy, even when your side loses face over and over, you're still winners. You have bigger guns and bigger antennae. Tanks and "smart bombs." I'm going to stop this because I have a feeling you enjoy this stuff to a sick degree. Enjoy your wars. The country's financial future might depend on those "terrists" and "towelheads." Forget a real economy!

Capt you are unable to

by timothyfloyd on

Capt you are unable to differentiate a conversation let alone a temper tantrum this is the problem with trying to converse with you.You never understand.Perhaps I should have used the word 'complain' instead of bitch for your understanding.Let me attempt to explain it was a verb usage not a noun, unlike 'fool' a noun. But that's too bad,it is IMHO these post's are just alot of 'bitching' and complaining.Synonym's that are Synonymous for your constant representation.
I do not make translations Capt as your trademark,it goes to show you cannot deal with original statements.I have before ignored your response's for this reason only, because you are unable to relate and Non-Sequitor.
Nothing I said was in defense of the US's 'aleged' torturing yet you always jump to conclusion's because you know can win that argument. But when using your argument used against yourself, you resort to your usual -translation's..I doubt your self proclaimed 'educated and elite' mind will comprehend.
And Mrs Simpson we see it differently.I see the terrorist's as a weak desperate pack of  murderer's.We have crippled them, they are without a sane person's doubt, devastated.

Even if I were a neocon, i could admit that Italy's standing in the way of the war on error is going to bite them in the balls.

Harboring terrorist's is 'Illegal action'

by timothyfloyd on

I see,you care about legal action,in a selective way. When it's convienent to accomodate terrorist's,the law then matter's.THEN it's time for you to be a 'Referee'..

Sometimes we may go too far but do you even care about apprehending terrorist's? And do you care about Judges making alleged judgement's?

If you consider it ok to call people arresting criminal's -criminals then attempt to consider its the same ignorance to call a terrorist sympathizer a terrorist.

This ignorance is being passed back to you behind a law set to stop the immigration of Iranian's to the USA.

hamsade ghadimi : you are an independent thinker

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

I also noticed your comment on my other blog about Pahlavi. Thanks for commenting. I didn't mean that the swiss franc is sound. I think I should have put the title in quotes.

Thank you for the information. Very detailed and helpful. I know the rates on savings is very high in iran. I don't want to get involved in that. Many Iranians are and they are doing quite well. It's funny that they are protesting at the same time, isn't it? haha.

hamsade ghadimi

swiss franc not sound

by hamsade ghadimi on

after reading the comments, i'm not sure if i know what the intent of the blog is.  however, the title and the questions that followed it grabbed my attention.  i will respond to those questions.  if you're looking into investing (or just getting an answer to your curiosity), you shouldn't invest in the swiss francs.  swiss francs is way over-valued while chinese yuan is way under-valued.  these comparisons are relative to a base currency (i'm using american $).  your questions are very much researched by monetary economists.

A useful guide to compare currencies are one that devised (i think initially humorously) by the economist (the journal).  it's called big mac dollars.  using the price of big mac in different countries (at least those who have it), economists have used purchasing-power parity (ppp) to find a way to compare currencies against each other.  for the latest index (jan. 2010) of various countries, you can refer to the link below:

//www.economist.com/daily/chartgallery/displaystory.cfm?story_id=15210330

try to look beyond ronald mcdonald; these figures have proven to be very good estimates (it's been done since the mid-1980s and it's still being published with a straight face).  one should also use caution using these estimaes as they are just a snapshot of current estimated valuation and do not necessarily project in the future (investment criterion). by the way, i hear rates on savings in iranian banks are very high!
