Drugs!
by G. Rahmanian on Sun Jan 30, 2011 01:46 AM PSTSome years back, a friend sent me a eulogy written by Haadi Khorsandi for Shapour Bakhtiar. It was short, but it was a great piece. At some point in that eulogy he talks of the rumor about Dr. Bakhtiar's opium addiction that was circulated, to a large extent, by some leftist groups which used such a false accusation to attack him as the last Prime Minister, before the revolution. Mr. Khorsandi goes on to say that Dr. Bakhtiar did NOT even smoke cigarettes, let alone abuse any hard drugs. My condolences to Mr. Homayoun's family and friends.

by Souri on Sat Jan 29, 2011 03:16 PM PSTI'd heard good thing about him. I think with the information that you gave me, now I can have an idea of who this person was. Just knowing that "he was the author of that article" and also "he could escape the prison right at the time of the revolution, while few people could do it" gives an impression of his political ideology and personality.
May his soul rests in peace, anyway. But I can't say he is a loss to the country.

Homayoon Like Egypt's Sadat never hid his early Pro German
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Jan 29, 2011 12:51 PM PSTHomayoon Like Egypt's Sadat never hid his early Pro German Sentiments. This was
the case of many people in the Middle East who were opposed to the British which they resented
for their colonial domination. He obviously distanced himself from
from this morbid attraction which he later blamed on his blind enthusiasm as an inexperienced youth.
As my Link to the Constitutionalist Forum in the other thread shows, Homyoun
was to earn the respect of many people who were ideologically at oppposite ends
of the Iranian Political spectrum including Left Wing and even
former Revolutionaries and in recent years even Reformists belonging
to the Green Movement's Intelligenstia. I don't think he even was a party Member of SUMKA
but rather like the French would say a "Compagnon de Route" after definitively
abandoning all ties with that marginal Party. A party which never managed
to elect a deputy in the Iranian Parliament under the Pahlavis be it Father or Son.
PHOTO:
The Young Dariush Homayoon attends a gathering of SUMKA
Members in Tehran in the 1950’s. See Photo Here (Sitting behind the Fat guy and starring at the Camera)
SUMKA was founded by Davud Monshizadeh. Before 1952, SUMKA was referred informally to those in Iran who supported the Nazi
Germany during the WWII, but after 1952 SUMKA became the official National
Socialist Party of Iran which was ideologically closer to Spain’s Franchists than to German Nazis.

by Faramarz on Sat Jan 29, 2011 08:08 AM PSTMr. Daryoush Homayoun is the uncle of Mr. Shahram Homayoun (Channel One, LA.)
May he rest in peace.
Mr. Daryoush Homayoun was the minister of Information under Mr. Amouzegar and is known for writing the famous article about Khomeini in Etelaat which sparked the riots by the religious zealots. He was later imprisoned by the late Shah, but escaped prison at the time of the revolution in 1979.
In one famous interview, when asked which of the Iranian kings does he compare the late Shah to, he answered, "Shah Mohammad Khan Khoda Bandeh!"
As you may know, that was the last Saljoogh king and fled when Changuiz Khan invaded Iran!
