TWO BEST QUESTIONS: If it is Montazeri this time, which grand Ayatollah will be targeted through his kids next time? On what grounds were they arrested?
As in so many other cases, no grounds are needed under Khamenei's military dictatorship, though fictional ones can be created at the Supreme Leader's whim.
The timing tells you both the reason and the purpose. Montezari's grandsons were arrested the day after he accurately pointed out that Khamenei has allowed the Islamic Republic to become a military dictatorship.
Like Ahmadinejad's suit against another Grand Ayatolah, the purpose is the same: intimidation. Even the Grand Ayatollahs are not immune. We've recently seen Khamenei use the same tactic against opposition leaders, "Shut up or I'll arrest your kids and then you know what may happen to them?" Khamenei's misrule is shameless and violates the constitution.
The item is mentioned in a brief paragraph at Enduring America which then provides the following link in Persian which I can't read. Perhaps someone can translate.

Oh get a freaking life
by TheMrs on Fri Sep 18, 2009 04:55 PM PDTOh get a freaking life won't you?
First of all what is this a blog? I just saw my name on the side and clicked on this. Is it a comment to a blog? I can't see the original subject.
Secondly, I am myself and not most other people.
Thirdly, my forehead doesn't say "Ahmadjinejad supporter", nor does yours. So if you want to BS me, I'll BS you. You are the ahmadinejad supporter.
Most Iranians here are glad to have an American who shares their interest in freedom and their opposition to a brutal regime. Perhaps you are a fan of Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and the Basilj.
Now Shirlock, I don't speak those cuz I'm not from those countries. But if I go to their websites and allude to some piece of report, I'll make sure I ask someone who speaks them reads it for me before I mentino it in my blog.
Oh and yes, I do speak Turkish.
You said you don't read it and I said go learn. You never said you couldn't understand it either! I thought you undesrtood but couldnt read. And frankly, if that is the case, and you really care about Iran, put 2 hours aside and learn the alphabet. You don't have to write poetry but it's worth while to learn to read your mother tongue. But you're American so whatever...
Shame on "The Mrs.". Why can't you read the following?
