Mehrdad Pahlbod was a Member of the Royal Family through his marriage to Princess Shams (The Shah's sister) and was Minister of Culture and Arts, 1964-1978. Under the Patronage of Empress Farah, Pahlbod was to develop a series of cultural endeavors amongst which the Shiraz International Arts Festival.
