Yes I guess it was the Al Pacino (Serpico) and Michael Douglas ( The China Syndrom) look that was trendy in  the mid 70's to have a Beard ;0)  And They actually looked quite good in their God Father like tuxedos too.

I love Soli's voice and I have to admit that Ebi even today looks great. He ages well like Good Wine ...

what was the deal with the beard?  I never quite understood that.
