European Co Production shot in Bam in 1976 entitled the "Desert of the Tartars" directed by Italian director Valerio Zurlini was an adaptation of renowned Italian writer Dino Buzzati 's controversial 1938 novel about life, honor, mystery, paranoia and death during wartime set at the time of the Austro Hungarian Empire. The film had a star studded cast including Jacques Perrin ( also producer) , Vittorio Gassman, Philippe Noiret, Fernando Rey to name a few ...
