Iranian Nobel Peace Laureate of 2003 said "An Islamic Human Rights is wrong both Theoretically and Politically" at the Carnegie Endowment Conference covered by FORA TV.

The one who is outdated is you not Shirin. She has always said that. I know it because I travelled with her for nearly two years in 2004-2006, translating for her. Shirin has always said that HR are universal values and there is no such thing as Islamic or Christian or Iranian or Chinese HR. But, in fact her belief goes back much farther. As a long-time friend of her family and someone who always saw her and discussed politics with her whenever I travelled to Iran, I know she always believed in this. One can criticize Shirin for certain things - no one is above criticism including you, me, and everyone else - but not for this.

I know you mean well, and I respect you for posting under your full name, and expressing your honest opinion, even though I disagree with you most often than not. But, making it sound like this is new, when Shirin has always said that is unfair.

Q

Yawn...

What's the surprise? This is an amost 2 year old video. She's saying human rights are not tied to any religion like Islam or Buddhism. So what? I'm not sure even Ahmadinejad disagrees. IRI says it accepts the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I gather Kadivar's unsophisticated brain just gets overly excited when the words "Islam" appears with any negative words like "reject" or "wrong". He appears to think whoever says them supports his ridiculous positions. His video-based "arguments" are worthless as usual.

In that case, he might want to lookup the definition of the word "FINALLY" and probably also play ignorant to what Ebadi has done more recently. For example:

supporting a pledge of divestment from Israel based on Gaza war crimes, in April 2010: //www.caldivestfromapartheid.com/2010/04/28/statement-of-support-from-nobel-peace-laureates/
