"Isfahan is a city where everything is poetry. They meet you at the airport with poetry and you go away with poetry." –Duke Ellington

Duke Ellington and his orchestra perform "Isfahan" with Johnny Hodges at the Saxo in a 1965 TV show. This composition was part of The Far East Suite (available on amazon.com) which was composed during the Duke's Tour on behalf of the US government to the major capitals of the Middle East. The Duke was impressed by the kindness of his reception in Iran and particularly Isfahan to which he pays tribute in this composition.
