I find publishing the (ubiquitous) portrait of Neda's last breathing quite insensitive, unnecessary, and exploitative.
Without drawing a parallel intended, I don't recall seeing the image of JFK's blown skull in the presidential limo, or Robert Kennedy's lifeless body on the floor all over the Democrat-leaning media.
Our higher culture, as some of us advocate it incessantly, is not measured by how we celebrate (or, not) the death of our foes, but by how we remember the lives of our friends.

by DW Duke on Sat Jun 12, 2010 07:22 PM PDTYou don't recall seeing the image of JFK's blown skull in the presidential limo? Do they not have television where you grew up? It is one of the most widely watched scenes in history. Here it is again:

I have no idea what your reference to the hammer and sickle might be and frankly lI really don't have the time and energy to search these threads ot find out, but the use of the name "comrade" in conjuction with the hammer and the sickle suggests that you somehow fancy yourself a supporter of the obselete and despicable regime of the USSR which murdered between 60 and 80 million people between 1917 and 1989. That would explain this thread which actually seems to have garnered a few groupies. Congratulations, you just enjoyed your 15 minutes of fame. :)
Demonstrating Honor
by DW Duke on Sat Jun 12, 2010 09:16 PM PDTSince when is showing honor to a martyr considered exploitation? I suppose we could eliminate the birthday of Martin Luther King from our calendar not to mention Ghandi. Who is really the bloodthirsty ghoul, the one who honors Neda as she should be honored or those who murdered her? It is interesting that her family, who was not even allowed to have a proper memorial service without the thugs if the IRI interfering, have no problem with the tribute she has received. //www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/06/12/iran.neda.film/index.html?hpt=C2
Her tragic death served as a rallying cry for those who are sick of the vile despicable Khamenei regime and it is effective.
it's because the green party are bloodthirsty ghouls

While for some, the bitter
by benross on Fri Jun 11, 2010 03:49 PM PDTWhile for some, the bitter taste of killing tens of thousands of militants never left the mind and soul, for others, mostly "general public", Neda symbolizes the atrocities of IRI. I wouldn't call it 'exploitation'. It may become one if left unchecked, but I do believe it carries a genuine feeling for general public that some may find it hard to believe they never had it before with such intensity.
Brother Infidel
by خلفای راشدین on Fri Jun 11, 2010 03:17 PM PDTMay Allah help our wandering souls, Inshaa Allah.
I don't see much of, or hear a lot about marhoomeh Zahra(Ziba) Kazemi, whose political activities during her short life, need not her highly publicized tragic murder by the Iranian Islamic regime. She was a hero before her death.
What else can I do? What else can I say?
When will they stop exploiting Neda ?

Makes me sick !
Comrade
by Gavazn on Fri Jun 11, 2010 12:56 PM PDTYou have a point. I think at the start the video of her unfortunate and brutal death had to be shown to the world to show IRI shoot unarmed civilians in the street. But I am feeling uncomfortable with "new angle" videos coming out. They are a bit voyeuristic if you ask me. I made myself watch the first one but the new ones that have come out I have avoided out of respect for Neda.
