Ahang: I like Christmas trees too and for the same reason. Each year the gifts reflect the current state of affairs. New toys, new fashion, new books, music... And in the center is the evergreen that stays the same "forever." Fantastic symbolism! By the way, I follow the tradition of buying live trees and finding a place to plant them after Christmas.

HFB: You catch the idea of this blog clearly. It certainly is a new and one-and-only spring. My ghor is that there is no Haftsin symbol to make this most important point. A bit kidding about the 45-33 RPM adapter,  but some symbol of escape from the cycle is needed. Perhaps one stalk of sonbol can be trimmed into the shape of a spiral, which is cyclical yet ascending.  Or whatever represents "first time" or "progress" to the haftsin artist

My first reaction was to remind you that even though the Spring repeats exactly, as your nice piece says, this is the one and only 1391 (or 2012, or 2571.) It will never be Spring 1391 again

My second contribution would be something you might enjoy from Hafez. (By the way, I've tried to explain your "Beloved" question in the Hafez Blog.) It's up to you, accorging to Hafez, to create the Spring of Your Life, as otherwise, the Spring in nature comes and goes, just as you say

بهار عمر خواه ای دل وگرنه این چمن هر سال

چو نسرین صد گل آرد بار و چو بلبل هزار آرد 

Seek the Spring of Your Life, as otherwise ....

This world adorns us with bounteous flowers and feathered creatures with each passing year 

Now what constitutes that "Spring of Life" is up to the individual to decipher - I think your love for those musicians for example, rather than the gadget that kept their music alive - keep playing the music and Happy No-Rouz

Unique Year

Ari: We also say "New" YEAR in English. Interesting, thought provoking piece - and here's my two cents: Yes, like you say, the spring comes back every year, this isn't a new spring. But this is the one and only 2012, or in Iran's case 1391 or 2571. It is the one and only, the very first or "avalin bar" that we are stepping into 1391, right? That's the beauty of it. The same spring that comes back each year like you say - but a "new", not to be repeated year in of itself, each year.

راستش من تا حالا یادم نمیاد که سفره هفت سین پهن کرده باشیم

نه خونه ما و نه خونه مادر و پدر بزرگم....درخت کاج کریسمس را دوست داشتم  نه بخاطر خود درخت

بلکه بخاطر هدیه ها با بسته بندی های رنگارنگ که زیر درخت میگذاشتند

از نوروز چیزی که بیاد دارم سبزه بود که سبز میکردند...که به خانه نشاط میبخشید

از سوی دیگر فکر کنم که نو روز  یکی از کمترین جشن هایی باشد که مذهبی نیست

بطور مثال بزرگترین جشن ترک ها عید قربان است...که در خیابان ها خون بپا میکنند...امیدوارم که دیگر این نوروز ایرانی را حذف نکنند.
