As a zoologist and an amateur anthropologist, I have always been enthralled by the idea of Neanderthal genes finding their way into modern humans’ genetic pool. Was interbreeding between the two species even possible? The facts were certainly in favor of the gene mixing. After all, for a brief (historically brief that is) period, Homo Sapiens did live alongside Neanderthals in the same geographic area. They both walked upright, lived in communal groups, and if what I have read about them is correct, Neanderthal females were quite hot. So, I always pondered the idea, until last year, when it was reported that our ancestors did mingle, genetically, with Neanderthals.
So, what does all of this have to do with IR’s scientific accomplishments? I have to admit that I have always been one of the people who have been quite harsh on IR’s claims of scientific achievements. I have always made fun of their use of 1950’s North Korean missiles and their attempts of calling them indigenously designed missiles, and their repainting of 1960’s F-5’s and calling them “Saegheh.” But now, I have to tip my hat to them. Exhibit “A” is the above picture, which is of no other than IR’s newly appointed Oil Minister, Rostam Ghasemi. Just look at that mug, and consider this: the Islamic Republic of Iran has managed to produce, for the first time in human history, a living, breathing specimen of Neanderthal interbreeding with modern humans. Look at that flat, low forehead, that primal growl of the teeth, that flat nose, and of course, the short, bulky stature that is one of main characteristics of his Neanderthal ancestors. Hell, he even looks like an older version of the Neanderthal replica in Kermanshah’s own Zagros Paleolithic Museum.
So, all you naysayers, for all of you who never thought much of IR’s ability to produce significant, quality scientific achievements, what do you have to say now? I hope you apologize to people like this guy who have been trying to tell us about IR’s scientific accomplishments for all this time…only to be ridiculed and belittled by the likes of a non-believer (until now) like me.
Plus, if you need more evidence (as if that is even needed), take a look at this mug shot. He looks like he just came out of the cave and put his club down. Plus, who else, but a Neanderthal, would work for an organization such as the IRGC?
I am somewhat crestfallen with the IR, though. Why not share this marvel of science and history with the world? Why not provide a sample of this beast’s DNA with the world so that we can all expand our knowledge of our unfortunate evolutionary cousins, the Neanderthals? Here’s what I suggest: the world should have a plan. Next time Mr. Ghasemi shows up an OPEC meeting, someone should grab his water glass and swab it for DNA, and immediately send that sample to the American Museum of Natural History for further study. Better yet, we can put him in a crate—like the ones in Jurassic Park—and put him on an Island, and observe his behavior. We should even find him a mate. Can I suggest one? How about Ali Vakili Raad’s wife? Here she is. She is no stranger to mating with non-humans. So, get her naked and throw her on the island with Ghasemi. I’m sue she’s just as hairy as he is. Let’s see what happens. Let nature take its course. The scientific world is waiting.

Here We Go Again!
by Faramarz on Mon Aug 08, 2011 09:21 AM PDTThe root of the problems between Iran and Iraq was the right of passage through Arvand Rood that Saddam refused to accept which is based on the border being at the deepest point and not the halfway point (Thalweg Law). This issue was resolved in 1975 at Algiers to Iran’s satisfaction and the late Shah in return stopped supporting Barazani in Iraqi Kurdish area. The relationship between Shah and Saddam was cordial to the point that Saddam offered to take care of Khomeini, but Shah did not see any danger coming from him.
The Iranian military at the time was not going to be a deterrent to the Soviet Union but rather to ensure the stability in the Persian Gulf and the free flow of oil. Iranian military however kept an eye on Saddam. Out of Vahdati airbase in Dezful, Iranian pilots flew regular mission every night inside Iran for about 180 miles which was the distance between Dezful and Habbanih base outside of Baghdad.
US had early warning radars in Babolsar that was spying on the Soviets missile sites in Kazakhstan. The site was de-commissioned right after Khomeini’s arrival. If Iran was meant to fight the Soviets, they would have asked the late Shah to join NATO, like Turkey.
Iraq did not have a nuclear program until the Regime took over. Khomeini’s constant talk of Arab revolt all over the Middle East which got the entire Region on the edge plus the killings of the top military brass by Khomeini which weakened Iran provided an opportunity for Saddam to attack Iran with the full support of the Region as well as most of the world.
How many mines did Neda walk
by Zamin on Mon Aug 08, 2011 08:23 AM PDTHow many mines did Neda walk over? I can care less, good riddance! Did she fight in Iran-Iraq? Would she fight off a western invasion? haha, we know the answer!
I wonder too
by عموجان on Mon Aug 08, 2011 08:22 AM PDTHow many officers of old regime (Iranian military Officers of all branches) were executed by him before and after the war. Also I wonder after Iraqis were pushed back why Bsijiha wanted continued the war and cause more Iranian death. Basijiha look and act like animals like how they shot Neda on street of Tehran,Capital of Iran. Don’t worry these are Iraqis themselves.
Zamin, please don not use narcotics when you comment on my blog
by Anonymous Observer on Mon Aug 08, 2011 08:06 AM PDTEven Shah had moved all his military infrastructure towards Iraq, fearing an invasion.
So, he moved his infrastructure toward the country from which he thought the invasion would originate? Dude, put the hashish down, then comment.
PS- I am not making fun of this guy. Much to the contrary, I am pointing out his unique position in the animal world. He should be proud of his status as a wonder of science.
Pathetic how you live in the West....
by AMIR1973 on Mon Aug 08, 2011 08:05 AM PDTAnd vomit up propaganda on behalf of an anti-Western terrorist regime that you can't even be bothered to live under, preferring instead to live in the Evil, Imperialist Decadent...West. Cheers :-)
Pathetic how you make fun
by Zamin on Mon Aug 08, 2011 07:55 AM PDTPathetic how you make fun of a guy who fought all 8 years of Iran-Iraq.. I wonder if there were no Basij? Or IRGC, Would Tehran even exist? Do you realize Saddam Hussein worshiped Stalin & Hitler? He would of burned Tehran to the ground. Hmm, I really wonder though? What if no Basij, IRGC fought in Iran-Iraq, what if they fled like people like you?
PS: Even Shah had moved all his military infrastructure towards Iraq, fearing an invasion. It also explained his nuclear program.

COP Jaan
by Anonymous Observer on Sun Aug 07, 2011 08:38 PM PDTI concur with you that his species has taken a foothold in our homeland. I surmise that it is maternal, and by that I, of course, refer to the evidence pointing that there is one female specimen of his species that is held captive at Hozeyeh Elmieh, where the males of the species mate and reproduce with her on frequent basis. Most of the high echelon of the IR are offsprings of this one single female. If she was a Homo sapien, we would call her a "jendeh" in Persian. Thus, the term mostly aptly applied to IR officials: "madar je**deh."
I don't see much of a coorelation between evolution and religious mumbo jumbo, except for the fact that Abraham was a brone age figure and Mohamed was a pedophile...which kind of negates him having Neanderthal genes, because as far as I know, even Neanderthals had the decency to not have sex with a nine year old child. :-))
It takes a keen eye
by Cost-of-Progress on Sun Aug 07, 2011 05:21 PM PDTto recognize evolutionary science and you, my friend, have done it here. Is it me or are there more of these specimen infecting our motherland?
I know you don't pounce on religion much, but can we talk a bit about the evolutionary paths and that taken by the "follks of the divine"....? There is a direct correlation.

We now have evidence
by vildemose on Sun Aug 07, 2011 04:07 PM PDTWe now have evidence that sub-saharan africans, "blacks", have a different ancestral lineage from all the other human races. sub-Saharan Africans are more "purely human" than the rest of us.
that not all humans have Neanderthal, and that any 'evidence' of difference can be used to discriminate or show a stupid science basis for unpleasant attitudes. That sub-Saharan Africans are the only 'pure' humans works just as well for discrimination against those pure humans as it would if they were the only ones with any Neanderthal. It's all in what anyone wants to think, and anything can be 'evidence.'
//news.discovery.com/human/genetics-neanderthal-110718.html
It will actually make Africans more "human," no?
by Anonymous Observer on Sun Aug 07, 2011 02:14 PM PDTSince Neanderthals were of lower eveolution, and we have traces of their DNA? Africans, on the other hand, have no traces of Neanderthal DNA. So, they are more "pure" (for a lack of a better word) Homo Sapien. Bad news for Caucasians who always thought of themselves as more "evolved!" :-))
I have also read that
by vildemose on Sun Aug 07, 2011 12:45 PM PDTI have also read that Neanderthal DNA is only found in non-African people
This is true but I don't want to put an emphasis on it because it could be expolited by racists among the scientific community to further point as evidence that African are subhuan in some way or form.

That's very interesting Vildemose
by Anonymous Observer on Sun Aug 07, 2011 12:38 PM PDTI did not know about the DNA exchnages with pets. Very inteesting. I will try to read up on the issue. I have also read that Neanderthal DNA is only found in non-African people, and that is obviously because of the geography of where the Neanderthals lived and where their encounter with Homo Sapiens may have occured. They were a different species, though. Very different than HP's. For one thing, they couldn't speak. They could only make sounds at the level of pre-speech children. They did, however, have art and used fire.
And yes, he does look like Digit also. :-))
Great analogy of This creature

Hillarious. He actually
by vildemose on Sat Aug 06, 2011 07:20 PM PDTHillarious. He actually looks more like Digit, the gorilla that was adopted by a couple a while back.

//www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2012746/Gorilla-midst-The-enchanting-story-couple-adopted-baby-Digit-let-share-duvet-13-years-on.html
But joking aside,
All present humans are descended from a small band of Africans who left East African about 50-60,000 years ago (obviously leaving their descendants in African also).
THIS IS A FAR, FAR MORE IMPORTANT REALITY than interbreeding with Neaderthals.
The fact that almost all of us have some segment of Neaderthal DNA is hardly important at all in the scheme of things.
We also all have tons of DNA from other creatures, including viruses and bacteria and most interestingly OUR PETS.
Humans exchange DNA with their pets and vice versa.
Life on this planet is one long continuum of DNA. The idea that there are clear 'breaks' between species is ridiculous on the face of it and comes from the naive notion that God created us in his image and that the rest of life is somehow lower and insignificant and different.
