How Time Flies. It was only in 1977 that Iranians enjoyed being among the ten wealthiest Nations of the World. According to American economists at the time, Iran was on it's way to becoming the 3rd largest economy in the world in another 13 years as an industrial nation. Approximately 50,000 Students had both their University and Living expenses paid for to study in the United States, approximately another 40,000 students also had Free Private education and living expenses paid for in European Countries. These numbers don't include the money paid to students in Iran to study in Iranian Universities. (in comparison to the rest of the planet, iranians were experiencing a Utopia Moment).
It's easy to see why so many people around the world were so impressed at Irans accomplishments. Iran was the first country of ancient history and traditions making it's way into the new industrial world based on it's own culture. The Iranian government had even set aside a fraction of it's annual budget each year in order to provide free healthcare to all it's citizens by 1982/83. The thousands of schools, hospitals, libraries government buildings being built were giving necessary services to one of the worlds newest and largest (percentage wise) middle classes.
At the time many people opposed the idea of creating a single party system, named rastakhiz, and eventually went as far as killng their own golden goose (the monarchy) which had made this new lease on freedom possible.
Today there are many lesson to learn, but it is not a popular subject, namely because the conclusions of such a study would force people to consider the notion that they made a big mistake in killing their golden goose and pursuing greater democracy for a country with no culture or democratic institution to support such plans.
Thankfully with Iran out of the picture as a progressing and developing society, another ancient civilization is making progress where iranians failed. China in 2010 had more millionaires than any other country in the world, produced and sold 18,000,000 cars more than any other country in the world and is set to have a free healthcare system for all it's citizens in another 9 years. In the eyes of any fair observer the chinese one party system has put to shame not just Germany and the united states, but is also showing far better results (order of magnitude X1000) than India another ancient civilization that also chose to go the more idealistic and theoretically freer Democratic route.
The Rise of Freedom and Success in China, as a old civilization, with ancient traditions, should serve as a model for inspiration for open minded Iranians. China has far more in common with Iran in terms of history, people and culture than the USA. Infact china's capitalist one party path, is the path Iran was on, before with help from other countries that directly benefitted, we sabotaged our own success.
Over the next 20 years, each and every single year, china's one party system will be out doing every other country in the world in every respect. Japans Monarchy should also be a source of inspiration for a people with an old complex society. Hopefully people will keep in mind the lack of progress in other ancient civilizations like newly democratic Egypt and Democratic India as this is happening. These will be good years for Iranians to reflect on the least selfish path that is most suitable for restoring freedom to an ancient civilization. That way if at some point we can find another golden goose to rally around, we won't be so happy or cheer as loudly, if we chose to kill the goose once again in pursuit of our own selfish agendas.
