 Ghogha Khalatbari, head of anjomaneh daaneshvaraaneh iraan, accomplished poet, brother of famed poet Simin Behbahani, and a friend of my Dad, died last week of complications of cancer. 

  He was a big fan of Rumi, and a few years ago, after visiting Rumi's grave in Ghooneeyeh, he came up with a poem , called 'man az ghooneeyeh mee-aayam.." (I come from Ghooneeyeh..")

  At a party, and quite spontaneously, my Dad played his violin and someone sang this poem as a song. I filmed it, and now I am putting it on line, in his memory. If you like Rumi, you'll love this song.

   Because of spontaneity of it, the coordination is sometimes lacking,and I have not asked the singer if I can put this on line. Therefore, I felt compelled to obscure his face. His voice is still lovely.

Thank you Ali for uploading this video of my father, Ghogha Khalatbari. He is truly missed. My father wrote many great poems and an anthology of his poetry will be pubished in the near future. I would love to have a copy of the video. Please contact me to talk. Behrokh

مجلس بسیار گرمی برپا کردید و ابوی هم با وبولن سنگ تمام گذاشتند و قطعه زیبائی که تصور میکنم در "چهارگاه" بود ولی قدری هم به "راست پنجگاه" نزدیک بود.

خدایش بیامرزد شاعر را که سبک شعر خواندن ایشان بسیار نادر بود و مخصوص به خود.

این ویدیو شما در جمع فامیل از یادگارهای با ارزش خواهد بود.

I always saw the name or heard of ,as somebody I'd known for a long,But quite honestly never saw his picture.

Khoda biamorzad.  This was beautiful.  Ghogha Khalatbari was a well-loved personality in the DC area.  I have been to Ghoonieh (Konya), and I can feel the awe and humility he must have felt in writing such a deserving poem after his visit.  The accompanying artists also did a good job of reflecting that feeling.  Thank you very much for sharing your special and personal tribute to a good man.
