Arab Revolts & Islamic Republic

Impact of regional democracy movements on Iran

Russia Today: With the "Arab Spring" marching forward, what about Iran? The West has tried to isolate the Islamic Republic for decades with little success. Now the shoe is on the other foot - with the Washington consensus coming to an end in the Arab Middle East, will Iran be able to fill the power vacuum? CrossTalking with Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich, Jonathan Paris and Mohammad Marandi.

Yolanda:: YES, she does look like Marcia Clark.

Yes, this lady loves AN....lol

Soraya (Marcia Clark lookalike) got invited to attend IRI's UN reception. At 1:05 minute, she said I respect him [Ahmadinejad] very much. I like him very much….

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWpjpqdOdA8&feature=related

she voted for AN in 2009!

She interviewed AN twice in 2010:

Apparent, she is a fan of AN!

She won't go back because it is incompatible with her lifestyle. She probably flies to Iran once a year enjoying her house parties, skiing in mount Damavand and her villa in the Caspian. She has it made and enjoys the best of both worlds: holidays in Iran and a profitable career in America. Why on earth would she want to change the status quo?

That was a good find and it showed all we need to know about characters like Soraya Khanoom and the rest of the hypocrits sucking up to Ahmadinejd and his IRI entourage.

I also liked how the young lady (0:55) just before Soraya, who got so emotional going on about how lucky people in Iran are and how much she yearned to be there herself to kiss Iran's land, which begs the obvious question: "sweetheart, if you like and miss Iran so much under the IR rule and your beloved Ahmadinejad as its president, why don't you quit living in the nasty 'ol US and move to Iran to live among your Hezbollahi brothers and sisters?"

Could the answer be that she and the other hypocrits, like the guy at 0:45 praising Ahmadinejad for standing up to bullying (presumably by the US), while being IR supporters also love living in the comfort, freedom, security, tolerance and the wealth, life in the land of "IR's enemy", i.e the US, affords them?

I wonder if when at same time they praise the IR and take potshots at the very same US, they take time to reflect on the fact that millions of their fellow Iranians do not in any way enjoy anything like the same rights and secure future under the IR rule they support.

How low can you get Miss Soraya California Nesheen....

by Marathon-Man on

This is so utterly depressing to see a human kind getting so low and pathetic for whatever reason that can be.

Living in California and denying what is happing in the IRI sloughterhouses and all the rapes , tourchers and unjusice is simply sickening and difficult to grasp.

And all I can say to that  is to wish Miss Soraya a couple of weeks imprisontment under her beloved rejime and then she would have a compeletely different opinion on the IRI for sure.

Mafia is everywhere

by ahosseini on

Dear madam dear sir
Mafia is everywhere
In China and in UK
In Russia and USA
In Saudi and Bahrain
In Italy and Spain
In Israel and Holland
In Germany and Poland
In Iran and Libya
In whole of Arabia
You find gangs of mafia
In US and Asia
in Europe and Africa
The Latin America
Mafia in big temples
In churches and big circles
You find bullies and bulldogs
In mosques and in synagogues
The big tool of mafia
Is nothing but media
This is not democracy
It is just hypocrisy
Smash their world into bits
This weapon of these bandits
Let us fight them, fight them all
These hollow tigers will fall

The encouraging fact is that the great majority of young (less than 35) Iranians are educated.  This is regardless of their social class.  Given the preponderance of mass media originating from the free world, specifically the internet, it is inevitable that the lower class masses will also want Democracy.  I think we have to wait a few mor eyears but it will happen.  Meanwhile, we could hope and prey that the Greens have more appeal beyond teh middle class.

I've made this point before

by Simorgh5555 on

I've made this point before but why do people pf her ilk chose to live in the USA. This 'woman' Soaya has written plenty denouncing US foreign policy and yet she choses to live in a country which is actively engaging in hostilities with a regime she accepts and defends. Why?

They are trying to take advantage of American prosperity, jobs, education and career advancement.

If Soraya was a really principled person she would chose to live in Cuba, Lebanon, Argentina, Syria, Switzerland or a host of other countries which do not have a problem with the Terror Regime in Iran.

But we know the reason why she, Aslan and other NIAC morons (with a few exceptions) chose to live in the USA. They're all about the fu@@@@ing money!

Soosan Khanoom

Rastgoo

by Soosan Khanoom on

Great points I agree .....

That is why we need to educate the masses so they can decide for themselves. After all that's the only way to achieve democracy. Anything other than that will have negative result on the future of Iran.

by the way, Marandi is a blind typical Hezoballahi and supporter of VF, I do not even bother listening to him but the woman has some points here ....

but why she keep looking to the ceiling. Is her teleprompter up there ?  : )

Rastgoo

Sad reality

by Rastgoo on

I think the sad reality may be that Marandi and Ulrich are correct:  AN did win the election with 65% of the vote.  There were numerous polls inside and outside Iran (by telephone) that predicted an AN win by about the same margin.  It is very unfortunate and disturbing but I personally think that the Iranian regime has a much larger popular base than we, well off and educated, diaspora think.  For 32 years we've been told that this regime is unpopular and is falling.  I think we are falling for the same thing again with the Green movement.  I think that we have profound class divisions in Iran and the the Greens are from the middle class.  These class divisions have masked the reality of the situation for in Iran.  The middle class is not the majority of the population but due to its cultural influences (teachers, civil servents, engineers, doctors, etc) it thinks that it alone matters.  That is why they are cautious and not willing to persist like the masses in the Arab world or the 1979 revolution.  The labor and the working masses are not behind the Greens they are behind the regime.  They are the ones that would go into the streets and pay with their blood not the conservative middle class kids who are trying their best to immigrate outside of Iran in search of a better life.  Sorry guys but I think that is the truth.

I think the host should interview people with a more objective opinion on the matter.

But still, Soroya got served at the end. Well done, Mr. Paris.

Benyamin

it is sad that...

by Benyamin on

An american understands today`s Iran better than the other two Iranians.

I like what he said at the end and I like the fact he yelled at them both.

I realized at the beginning when Marandi said: "I agree with your GOOD GUEST in california"!!!! That this woman must be "known" to the IRI and RT didn`t mind to ambush the poor american.

Reality-Bites

Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich...

by Reality-Bites on

used to post here on iranian.com regularly up until 2/3 years ago.

Her contributions amounted to on one hand acting as an apologist and mouthpiece of the Islamic Republic, and on the other continuously attacking the United States, where, surprise surprise, she has chosen to reside.

Just do a quick search on the site and you'll find loads of her articles.

Simorgh5555

"I VOTED FOR AHMADINEJAD"

by Simorgh5555 on

Did you hear that from Sorya Sepahpur Ulrich?

Straight from the horse's mouth!

Supports CASMI and campaigns against Sanctions and Military Action. Every word spoken by ths woman hints at complicity with the IR. She sits their in the US studio with her designer outfit, jewelery and Vidal Sassoon hairstyle and says she voted for Ahmadinejad. If she can't dress like that in the Islamic Republic she should not wear that in the USA.

What further evidence do you need that CASMI and the NIAC are an American outfit for the Islamic Republic.

Ms Ulrich, the Versace suits do not fool us. You are an insult to Iranian woman as you take for granted the freedoms which you enjoy and many Iranian woman are deprived of.

I spit on you!
