Azin Izadifar

Expressive

by Azin Izadifar on

Not just from an individual point of view, but also as a man in general and as a human , full of conflicts. Im not sure how much we should analyze a poem from psychological point of view. I could write an article from Jungian arcetypal lens ( ANima and Animus) on this. but I rather see it as what it is: A poem. And fom that angle, all I can say is : Expressive. The last line : Az kenare man boro , dar kheyale man beman, is the essense of projection. If you are not familiar with these ideas and just expressed YOUR feelings < I should say you tapped deep down inside right into the collective unconscioussness.

Anyways, Im trying to post a FARSI poem here, but Somehow it becomes like a text or I see some wierd spaces between the lines. Did you ever have these problems. Any idea how to solve it?

How old is your daughter? She sounds so mature .....

I don't see anything dysfunctional in this poem. .

might mean that when someone is away, they are idolized and maashogh is picturing them to be sweet and loving.  Meanwhile they are wishing for the true one sometimes to go away because the true lover is not the idolizd version but someone with flaws so it appears that it might be better for the real one to go away so the person at least can enjoy the image they have built in their own mind. That is my take.

MG....

Am I the only one here who sees these lines as just a love thingy and nothing really dysfunctional or even ideal to be deliberately implanted?  It is poetry after all and dancing with the words .....

This poem actually reminds me of two of my favorite love songs ever ...

Falling by Alicya Keys and With Or Without by U2

do you want to treat the singers here with some drugs or do you think the singer enjoys it and it is like a self inflected wounds and ideal pain to create?

What is it hard to see here? ... it is love and loves does that to people and to their emotions ..

May be the last two lines were confusing to some ( not me )...  I wish the poet, himself. would step out and explain it but as I said I think the admin post it .... so we perhaps should leave it to our imaginations .

Dear SK,

by Anahid Hojjati on

Don't know what to say about this subject but I have something funny. Yesterday I was talking with my daughter and she said:"repetition is a literary device", so I teased her about this sentence. Then she tld me that I should not complain because some of my poetry is like:" sun sun is is shining". Now really, I am not an expert about love so I let those who know more write.

Mash Ghasem

Mehraban never uses the word love, or calls herself a doktor, she says " Fear of intimacy and separation anxiety both can be treated." So, if these lines  are read with a rather symptomatic gaze, they would qualify as a mildly dis-functional relationship. Almost always in anxiety and fear. But then again that might be an ideal 'romantic' situation for some.

I think the subject of this poem is about  a sensual love  and I believe this is a love poem ... but Dr. Mehraban's Priscription suggests something else

anyway , as you said it is a beautiful poem ..

and I felt every word of it   ...

Shaheed zendeh and shahadat ? !!!!

I am talking about love ..... A sensual love between a man and a woman ..

Dear SK, Mehrban did not write

That love is a disease. I will let her explain more but I don't read her comment the same way you read. Although love is same in different cultures but we have shaheedparasti and somehow being away from one's love gets treated by some of us as if that makes a person shaheed Zendeh. Any way, I don't want to go deep in this and just want to emphasize it is a great poem.

Anahid  .... With the exception of some great Iranian poets that we have seen in our history, is there really such a thing as "love" in the Iranian culture?  Just look at Mehraban's answer ... she thinks love is a disease and there is actually some treatment for it.... I do not blame her.

But it is so rude to show up and comment on a poem like the way that she did . Although I think the poet himself has not posted this and this was just posted by the admin ... But whoever wrote it and whoever posted it knows the heart that beats for love.

I think separation and  love comes naturally with out invitation and it has nothing to do with the culture ....  when it comes to Love we all speak same language ... no need for translation

Have you not heard this western expression that " Love hurts". All the love poems and love songs that have been written no matter on which part of this planet have been written as the result of love and separation ... the yearning and longing exists any way ... willingly or unwillingly ....

if one can treat Love then that person deserves a noble prize ..  LOL

this is from a song by Alicia Keys

When you're gone it feels like,

My whole world's gone with you

I thought love would be my cure

But now it's my disease

I try to act mature

But I'm a baby when you leave

How can I ever get used to being without you?

Am I addicted When I need you here all the time?

And I'm not sure if this is healthy

Is it a sickness? 'cuz I feel like I'm losing my mind

And I know that there's no medicine

Nothing I can take, no remedy

Nice poem

by Anahid Hojjati on

I think Soosan Khanoom has a good point. also with the Iranian culture, thee is some kind of esteem that is placed on suffering for love. It is thought that if someone is not seeing the person that they love, there is something grand about it.

Fear of intimacy and separation anxiety

by Mehrban on

they can both be treated.  Really.

Soosan Khanoom

wow.....

by Soosan Khanoom on

This poem is absolutely beautiful .....

I think separation is painful but it mysteriously carries the pleasure of love .....Love is both bitter and sweet, it is both pain and pleasure, and it is the awakening and the dream

Thank you for this wonderful poem ....
