If Russian defense technology were any good, USSR and its satellite clients would not collapse.

Look at all the conflicts of past 30-40 years where some Russian client country got involved in a military engagement with a US-made military technology.

Without any exception, in every single conflict, the latter defeated the former.

IRI is wasting Iranian hard-earned $$$'s on Russian crap, period!

May we see a regime change in Iran sooner than later!

1.  Suing Russia might have been grounds arranged by Iran and Russia to give Russia an excuse to deliver the S-300 missiles.  (Russia can then say 'we are complying with a court order.' ... That MAY be the rationale.)

2.  It was the Tajiks (Persians) of Afghanistan, then called "The Northern Alliance," that handed the USSR it's worst military defeat (resulting in a bloody and expensive stalemate, yet clear USSR military failure); it also probably led to the collapse of the USSR.

This is from the article. They are not designed for aircraft but missiles. Therefore Abarmard is right in his statement. 

Russia is just trying to milk Iran. Take the money but not deliver the goods. If they are illegal then give back the money with interest! You cannot have it both ways.  Besides Russia could have vetoed the sanctions! You don't get to sell something; take the money then say sorry I won't deliver! Typical rip off.

A operational "missile defense system" is not in service anywhere in the world!  I know US, Israel, China, Russia and others are toying with it and there has been some success but nothing solid.

The S-300 that Iran was buying was air defense against Air Force jets not missiles!

Reality-Bites

S-300 air-defense system is a system that controls missiles. One of the most sophisticated systems. It can control missiles to hit targets in order to protect an area. Having a missile is separate from having a control system. Most Iranian missiles are offensive in nature, meaning that if attacked, they will attack back, S-300 air-defense system is a defensive system that can recognize an attacker and direct the missiles BEFORE they hit their target.

I thought

The Islamic Republic military was capable of producing its own ballestic missiles, at least according to the IR's regular "gondeh goozi", i.e. propaganda clips, on the matter. So how come they are buying missiles from the ruskies?
