Netanyahu in Washington

Obama, Netanyahu emphasize strength of U.S.-Israel ties

CNN: Stressing the unbreakable ties between their nations, U.S. President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Tuesday for direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians while agreeing that the international community is strengthening efforts to isolate Iran over its nuclear ambitions. Obama said the bond between the United States and Israel is "unbreakable" and added that his country remains "unwavering in our commitment to Israel's security." Netanyahu chose to paraphrase American humorist Mark Twain by noting that reports of the demise of U.S.-Israeli relations "aren't just premature, they're just flat wrong." >>>

Zionism is the idea of

by benross on

Zionism is the idea of having a homeland for Jewish people. You can be Jew but not zionist, if you have another homeland or if you don't need one. But you can't be Israeli Jew and not zionist. This is an oxymoron.

Now the idea of creating a state not identified by the ethnicity or the religion, should be left for future generations. Anti-Zionism right now, has no meaning other than wiping out the state of Israel off the map. Beside the point that such wish has no modern component whatsoever, it's not going to happen. The modern and democratic state of Israel will be there for foreseeable future. Get used to it.

Ironically, I'm addressing this to Jews outside of Israel!

Crikey, so there are Liberal-Zionists, Christian-Zionists and goodness else what else.

I'm waiting for Islamist-Zionists to complete the crazy circle.

Rosie.

Oh, I know, Mehrdad,

by Rosie. on

although I have to confess I did not read up the thread. I was just glancing at the most recent comments  And I saw that execrable You're Not Iranian title and I went on automatic pilot.

At a certain point I did notice that Narmaki was complaining about being accused of this and that while accusing someone else of being this and that. But I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Like maybe since he's new, he just exploded in the pressure cooker.

Another thing, I'd never seen any of Narmaki's posts before.

It is getting very difficult to give the benefit of the doubt to IVA..

Nehrdad, you know my position from my blog and other things I've written. Extremism is bad. Paranoia, sadism, hate, all bad. This site is a microcosm of what happened to Iran and why. But many of them just don't (won't) get it.

I try my best to stay patient because someone should tell them how they look to a non-Iranian.

Well I know you try to be patient too. It's a tough job.

actions speak louder than words, great democracy my ...

by MOOSIRvaPIAZ on

"In 2007, Yuval Diskin, the head of Shin Bet, made it clear that the agency would "thwart" any activities that challenge the Jewish character of the state, regardless of whether those activities are legal. Hussein Abu Hussein, a lawyer on the legal teams representing Makhoul and Said, says he feels that some within the Israeli establishment are looking for a confrontation with the Palestinians inside Israel."The state has reached a political dead-end, with worldwide condemnation of Israel's actions, and calls for the prosecution of leaders in international courts."

--

The social, economic, health and educational gaps between Israel's Jewish and Arab citizens are continuing to grow, mostly as a result of unfair government policies and prejudice from the Jewish population, a study published Wednesday has found. Now in its third year, the Equality Index of Jewish and Arab Citizens in Israel, published by Sikkuy, the Association for the Advancement of Civic Equality, cites growing housing shortages and a looming welfare crisis as the main concerns facing the country's 1.5 million Arabic-speakers. "The index shows an alarming picture: that the gap between Jews and Arabs has increased by almost five percent in just two years," commented Ron Gerlitz, co- executive director of Sikkuy."

---

"This year, a new private Israeli academic institution launched, the Carmel Academic Center. Among its offerings within the department of business administration was an accountancy concentration. But one week before classes began, the school cancelled it. Why? Too many Arabs. That’s right. Only three Jews registered and the rest were Israeli Palestinians. Not wanting to develop a reputation for being in bed with Arab lovers, the entrepreneur who founded the school pulled the plug. Here are some internal conversations published by the Alternative Information Center. Israeli Channel 2 broke the original story:

---

"Israeli police shut down a Palestinian theater in East Jerusalem on Thursday, forcing foreign writers taking part in an international literature festival to move elsewhere for the second time in a week. The police action was the latest in recent weeks against what Israel sees as attempts by the Palestinian Authority to host political activities in the city, where both sides in the conflict have staked claims to have their national capital."

---

"There is no discrimination, we claim, yet our entire political, economic, legal, academic and even military leadership is made up of Ashkenazim, with a smattering of Sephardim as the exceptions that so remarkably prove the rule. And the rule is that, even 62 years after its establishment, Israel is run by an ethnically pure elite. True, we did have two presidents of Sephardi origin, but there's no way they could have been Moroccan Jews, who until recently comprised the largest ethnic community in the country. We have had two or three Sephardi army chiefs of staff and there are already a few major generals, a bank head or two, but not one prime minister. Who's counting, though? Equality reins."

---

And there is more where that came from... if you read the news that is.

Norman Finkelstein is an amazing person. He was forced out of his tenure position from pressure by the Israel lobby for being the voice for the truth and he stood by his principle. An offspring of holocaust surviver, his critical views against Israel are threatening the lobby.

Triangle of peace and stability

by Fred on

When Iran is freed from the clutches of IRR, the Islamist Rapist Republic which is the beacon to Islamists the world over, she will join the only democracy in the region, Israel, and like her will enjoy the benefits and prestige of being America’s steadfast ally.

The triangle of peace and stability, Iran, Israel & U.S. is closer to becoming reality than the enemies of Iran and Iranians think.

P.S. By surgical strike, do they mean strike attack such as in 9/11? that is the only one in recent history that had a true sense of surgical accuracy.  A true patriot should not encourage and cheer such strikes.
