Dear Anonymous,

Thank you.  The time is gone when the oppressors could put the blame on the oppressed ones. More and more, thanks to availability of information, we can all see that the maladies of our societies is simply a result of past malice and imperial ambitions based on a paradigm confide to greed and materialism, hunger for power and a false sense of superiority.Today we need to inform ourselves and stop calling Africans lazy, Latin Americans emotional and Middle Eastern dumb. What was done to all these folks was that they were deprived of their identity under the gunpoint. The west became powerful because of their use of more advanced weapons, a determination of subduing others and outright theft!  Once they achieved relative power, then they could change regimes and leaders in various parts of the world …  as they still do to some nations.

What the Spaniards and the British (among others) did to the Aztecs, Mayans, Arabs, Chinese and many others has paid for their advancement in science (please note that I only say science as their moral values, ethics and paradigms they live in is so rotten that despite all the wealth and technology they are still facing crisis after crisis on a regular basis).  We need to stop blaming ourselves, thinking of ourselves as lazy, idiots, fanatics etc.  We need to look at the historical background and realize that this was DONE to us.  That is not to say that we have to indulge in self-pity.  No …  rather to wake up and begin to believe in ourselves.

We must remember that we are the sons and daughters of  the sons and daughter of the sons and daughters of Ferdosi, Farabi, Abu Sina, Khayyam, Hassan Sabbah and all the ‘Shirzanan’ that historians failed to solidify their names and that we come from a country which has contributed to the collective knowledge of the humanity far more than its share. The first step is to encourage each other… help each other…and then maybe … maybe … one day, we can achieve justice and once again inspire the rest of the humanity to live in harmony and peace … to see Christians, Jews, Muslims, Baha’is, Chinese, Arabs and all others as brothers and sister … as part of own flesh and blood and feel the affinity that a skewed and faulty and imposed world view has taken from us.Hope I live enough to see that one day.

If you think I just fell off a turnip truck, or its equivalent in your England, you are sadly mistaken.

I do not fall for this Ahmadinejad/Hitler thingy. The entire Islamist republic is of one character with different garbs be it the smiley Khatami, the barking Ahmadinejad or the wheeling and dealing Rafsanjani.

The brutality and bestiality of any system that unabashedly murders its own people on regular bases, gouges their eyes, lashes them, rapes and stones them to death can only be compared with the Nazis.

I stand for the overthrowing this Islamist regime by Iranians who do need outside help doing it. I do not apologize for it but wish that my Iran was not in a state that necessitates such action.

I do believe the Islamist republic is taking Iran down a path that only and only will lead to further destruction of the country and quite possibly of biblical proportion.

Now   If by buying the regime’s propaganda you are happy with the make belief progress and have come up with a justification for thinking so, then goody for you.

by Cameron A. Batmanghlich on

What kind of a comparison is that? Are you one of those who proposes that Iran is Nazi nation and Ahamdinejad a Hitler???If yes… then we have nothing to say to each other. The fact is that you and I do not like IRI, we don’t agree with their politics, their violation of human rights and  and and ….  That is exactly why we live abroad.  But remember …  there are Iranians who DO like them.  There are those who live there.  They are Iranians too.  And they are working, building, creating.  One day when you or your kids or anyone of us return, we will enjoy their hard work, spent hours and lives under hardship …  and that is exactly why if cannot encourage them and show a bit of gratitude then we should shut the hell up or do not present ourselves as Iranians or patriots. Also remember, that Iran is under threat … real and concrete threat to be turned into a nuclear wasteland … into another Iraq. The point that I have made all along is that let us separate between IRI, or Pahlavi or whoever the hell is going to be there or have been there (for me all of them were and are a bunch of self serving traitors) and what is created in Iran.  Right now, no matter how inadequate, technological advancement is being conceived in Iran. And by the way as far as the refineries is concerned.  Perhaps you should read a bit and inform yourself that the largest petrochemical plant was inaugurated in Iran a few months ago.You should also know that from Boeing 747 to all other aircrafts are being fully overhauled in Iran and as the matter of fact Iran is taking orders of other countries to perform such overhauls.

Furthermore, Iran-140, is on the production line.  A passenger plane which is also modified as military transport as well as recon. (with love from Ukraine)

Considering such a limited time and resources with a suffocating atmosphere, the steps taken by Iranian engineers and scientists are astonishing, . If tomorrow there is a different government in Iran, this very industry being created will serve our country and for now it functions as a deterrent to be attacked.  Not that the Iranian military would stand a chance against so called allied forces, but the cost for an attack is high and is getting higher by day.  Now you are excused to go and get a life ;)

Here's a comment on another thread by a person named "Kamran" (in Persian) who is actually writing from Iran.  He mentions the same thing:

This supports my earlier claim that talent is being sacrificed for the sake of ideology.

I suggest that it's better for you to become less fanatic. Iran is not a Western Democracy, but it certainly isn't a Nazi State. Come on, easy does it.

Fanaticism in any direction is never healthy. You may dislike the Iranian system, and you have every right to dislike it, but don't lose your fairness or you are no better than those who you fight against.

You have a very well informed point of view.

To demonize or discredit Iran'a accomplishments in every way, shape or form reflects the lack of objectivity and free thinking by Iran's critics. What gives west or has given the west a big advantage in the past is the fact that we live our lives within an infrastructure that is modern and offers greater mobility and space, which ultimately translates into better productivity and results over the long term.

Outside of that one can easily argue with substantiated facts that will discredit critics, easily aparent by the deterioration of the western value system witnessed over the past 10-15 years.

Getting a life

by Fred on

Just before “I get a life” per your suggestion please allow me to be forward yet again and seriously cast doubt on this statement of yours:

“ any true patriot would rejoice in any progress in the country REGARDLESS of the ruling regime.”

Are you saying the German patriots who knew where Nazis were taking their nation, per this decree of yours, were just tickled pink with every invention of new weapon system that was rolled off an assembly line?

And also indulge me by answering this no brainer yet mystifying question which your brand of patriotism might be helpful to demystify. For such a technologically advanced regime that according to your posted information, “produce aircraft tires and overhauling all its aircrafts” why can’t they do a thing about the old grounded Airbuses they bought from Turkey just a few years ago.  Or better yet why not built a not too sophisticated refinery to put a stop to importing well over 40% of fuel?

The bitterness in your writing is amazing.

Please change your sign-in name to ‘Not so Irani-valizad’, as any true patriot would rejoice in any progress in the country REGARDLESS of the ruling regime.

Do you know ANYTHING about Sweden?  Apparently not.

Sweden HAD an industrial base.  It started with its cottage industry which was its strength and backbone.  Their cottage industry was then turned into real industry by the Nazis during the entire 1930’s up to 1945.  That is how they managed to transform small manufacturing companies into international ones such as SKF, SAAB and Ericsson.   In return, Sweden was the largest supplier of steel to Hitler, it was the first country outside Germany and the US to have a comprehensive eugenic program (which lasted till 1970!!!), was the biggest broker of gold and art confiscated of the Jews by the Nazi’s and sold mainly in the US and had their OWN NAZI party, sent soldiers to fight in the eastern front for Hitler and it was only Scandinavian country not being invaded.During the 1960’s, the Swedes began to lose their edge as the rest of Europe was recovering.  Sweden found itself in big problems and could no longer compete with the cutting edge technology being around by – again the Germans – French, Americas and the new kid on the block Japan! One by one their flagship companies were sold.  First was ASEA sold to the Swiss, then the first attempt to save Volvo was a joint venture with the Renault company by ‘Per Gyllenhammar’ which failed (he was the CEO of Volvo back then and knew that Volvo can no longer compete – he was dismissed!) then it was Ericsson (which became Sony-Ericsson), then SAAB, TetraPak and many others, then their shipyards.  The back bone of the Swedish industry was broken because 1- the cottage industry disappeared 2- There was no more Hitler to help them out 3- other countries were not in fire anymore. The most prestigious tech. University where most R+D is done is called Chalmers in the city of Gothenburg (with an Iranian as its Vice Chancellor).  Chalmers is now populated by foreigners.  This university gives foreign nationals such as Chinese, Pakistanis, Bangladeshi etc. to keep some sort of reputation still going.Sweden failed because the cottage industry which was well diverse disappeared.  Today, they have big problems in maintaining their aerospace industry and their ‘Pride’ (a jet fighter called Vigen) crashed three times    their engines are from Rolls Royce, avionics are French … the list goes on.About Volvo …  when taken by Ford, major restructuring took place.  Many Swedes were politely excused.  Their chief strategic designer (a very close friend of mine) is Dutch.  You have British, French, Spaniards, Dutch, Germans … all in key positions.

That is why Sweden DOES NOT have an aerospace industry, but has joined a consortium made up of a number of European countries.   That is why no more cutting edge technology is coming out from Sweden at the same rate during the past 50 years or so. All this, makes the assertion of the author in my previous post credible that Iran in 10 years time - provided that is left alone -  will become a Sweden but with the difference that it will be self-sufficient.

So … let me see now … Iran starting a real industrial progress 25 years ago (in the middle of a war) under embargo, a prolonged war, oil being as low as 8 Dollars per barrel at one point and then reverse engineers a jet, produces jet engines under license, overhaul jet fighters, build sub marine, build ships and corvettes, set up tractor factories in Senegal, Venezuela, becoming the largest automobile exporter in Middle east, with assembly lines in Senegal and many other countries, launches a satellite … buddy … WAKE UP!Iran opted for producing everything itself.  From nuts and bolts to electronics etc., being aware of and DESPITE the huge sunk costs it meant.  Why?  To create the very cottage industry that Sweden once had.  That is to make sure that you bring in / develop the know-how, only then you can outsource.

I know about cars that would catch fire and killed many in Iran.  I also know about many other problems that Iran has …  but, instead of ridiculing it …  try to help… that is if you still count yourself as Iranian and love your country and dream about one day be buried there if not live there again and see your grandkids enjoy the magic that that country once offered us all.  No one in their right mind likes IRI.  We all want to see a democratic, fair and honorable government in Iran. But stop ridiculing Iranian achievement and dishearten our young talents in Iran.  Let us not make them hate us who live abroad, but feel that they have an extended family here and there and on each corner of the world.  And to you Fred …  get a life!

What a name for an airplane!!!

Anywhoooooo, don't bulls**t yourselves.  This is a 1960's vintage F-5 with two tail fins...that's all.  And it took them 30 years to do it.  I think that one may actually be able to buy one of these old F-5's on ebay in the US!!!

I will not encourage these "scientists", you know why?  because they are usurpers of real Iranian talent.  As all of you who travel to Iran frequently should know, one will never get a job with ANY IRI government entity, let alone its defense industries, unless he goes through a detailed "gozinesh" investigation.  This is a detailed background check to make sure that you are a hezbollahi (and one of them).  It even includes interviews with your neighbors to make sure that you attend mosque on regualr basis.

I personally know of many bright people who were turned down for a job in various IRI government run departments because they did not pass this bulls***t "gozinesh" witch hunt.  So, the real Iranian talent is being passed on in favor a a bunch of second class basijis with a fake "PhD" that they got because they got into some doctorate program--over a highly qualified Iranian---because they were a member of "khanevadeyeh shaheed".  That's why there is such a brain drain in Iran and that's why it took these second (and third) class morons 30 years to put two tail fins on a 1960's vintage F-5.  they are the lowest level of Iranian talent, and are getting jobs that belong to real Iranian talent---which is escaping the country because he does not attend "sineh zani" on Ashura.

So go ahead and cheer them on.  Embolden them to inflict injustice on more talented Iranians and force them to leave the country.  After all, that is the plan, isn't it?

Solid industrial base ... don't you read IRI own newspapers where everyday they mention of a factory or industry that is being closed.  Don't you read of ASSEMBLED cars that catch fire for no reason at all and they can't figure out WHY?  Do you think that would be easier to resolve than REVERSE engineer a Ashoora-Tasoooa chicken, bird or whatever they call the next generation planes.  I am not sure what to believe the ABBAS SWEAR or the ROOSTER'S TAIL?!

and finally the funniest comment was Iran will be like Sweden in 10 years ... now that's funny ... poor Swedish folks, will one of their leaders dream of digging a hole near Zurich so they can can toss in their wishes in there?!

Just be aware ...

by Cameron A. Batmanghlich on

Just be aware …   Just be aware that what you guys are doing here is no more than belittling achievements of our nation and our folks. For you guys who pull facts outta your hats, just do a bit of reading and you will then understand that in order to reverse engineer an aircraft (let alone a jet fighter) a country needs to have a solid industrial base.Everyone has done it and still do.  The latest report (two days ago) was the Russians being pissed by the Chinese as they are reverse engineering Russian aircrafts.Furthermore, the design is after the F-5 but much is different in the aircraft.  From avionics, to its engine and much more that you can all search and read about. In regards to ‘Murgh Ashura’ (also referred to as Iranian Lion) it is a project in the making.  It is going to be an advanced multipurpose fighter a mix between F-14 and Mig-29.  This is ONE of the reasons that Iran has not procured new modern jets from Russians such as Su-30.Iran has overhauled major part of its F-14 fleet with new chassis, avionics, reversed engineered phoenix missiles to just mention a few (by the way the only country that still flies Tomcats …  are they old?  Yes… but still supurb birds).  Iran has also upgraded its fleet of Mig-29 for areal refueling (not in original design of Mig-29 and done by Iranian engineers and designers)  as well as increasing its range and much more.Iran is currently the largest automotive producer in the Middle East (all taxi’s in Dakar Senegal are now from Iran), the first middle eastern country to produce aircraft tiers as well as overhauling all its aircrafts.  Reverse engineering helicopters, producing own submarines etc.Going back to Saeghe, it was a project to gain more experience in producing more advanced aircrafts, that is why mass production never too place.Any country that is getting into such technology must start from somewhere. That is how Iran’s aero space industry was developed.  No one can deny the achievement of Iranian scientist and engineering of accomplishing such feat such as placing a satellite into the orbit with their own launcher … did they get help from Russians and N. Koreans and the Chinese?  Sure they did … but that is nothing strange. All this and much more (such as tractor manufacturing etc.) was done and is done despite embargos, sanctions and no assistance from the producer. This is something that we Iranians should be proud of and celebrate … encouraging our country fellows in Iran to continue and help them.Regardless of the regime, an industrial base, once created will remain in the country, know how will be there.  Stop politicizing everything.  Saeghe – among other industrial projects - is an achievement with implications beyond any particular regime.  Please stop these negative and destructive statements about our country’s achievements. Here is a little somthing about the Murgh Ashura project which is more than two years old:   By sean Mccarry10-10-2006 Good day to all of you,

I am able to mention certain things and unable to mention others, regarding the latest Iranian Fighter-Jet project. So please be patient, and please clearly read what I have written so that you do not get yourselves into a frenzy of irrelevant postings that serve nothing but emotional outbursts.

Iranian Aviators, Engineers, Mechanics, Project Managers, and Designers think, feel, react, and respond differently to circumstances that their counterparts in Europe and US. You must first understand this before you can comprehend how Iran chooses its projects (aircrafts or otherwise) and how it manages it, and develops its strategic needs and tactical requirements. These individuals that I am referring to are extremely sharp, very very knowledgeable, and would surprise all of you in terms of their depth and breadth as Aviators and Designers.

Additionally, Iran has multiple characters in its R+D, Project Selection and Funding, Requirements Analysis, and Strategic Needs. Each of these characters decide individually (almost) and headspear their projects based its interpretations and its own tranformations during the progress of a particular project. This is important since, as oppose to the European/US projects, the Iranian ones change shape almost daily and have to re-engineer themselves and their needs and project requirements. Although this is not constructive it is amazing to consider how Iran's characters have evolved through this intense amount of chaos and disorder to become excellent at managing a chaotic organization. Believe it or not, this does have some strategic advantage against US.

One of the characters in Iran is desparately sending signals to US through the projects that it funds, backs, supports, initiates, promotes, advertises, etc. that IRAN CAN DO IT. Now, "IT" refers to many projects that Iran and US had planned to perform together prior to 1979. The "IT" projects refer to Saeghae, Shabaviz, Shahed 274, etc. The groups that are unified and build this 'character' in Iran's Aviation are quite well known to many of you, no doubt.

There are many other Army, Navy, Airforce etc. projects in Iran. Some of the other characters do not necessarily disclose where they are in terms of their capabilities. They also have nothing to brag about, and nothing to show off about. They are extremely focused and highly competant individuals and organizations, both private and non-private, and they are the highest pillars of Iran's avaiation characters (and most of the groups within each characters are quite autonomous in funding). Again, many of you no doubt know which organizations I am referring to.

Now it is well known, by many top level Iranian ex-IIAF and current IRIAF that the project managers of top strategic programs in Iran release enough information for strategic reasons. These reasons could include, amoung many others, 1) to recruitment of top Iranian engineers and aviators outside Iran; 2) to attract funding from Iranian sources outside Iran; 3) to retain many of the great engineers in the robotics and technology sector of the Iranian universities, etc. etc.

One such project that keep many Iranian engineers excited and funders supportive is a project from 1999/2000 called the Morgh Ashura. This is an aircraft that "RESEMBLES PARTS OF THE AIRCRAFTS YF22-SU27SK-Chineese Stealth Fighter". PLEASE read my statement very carefully so that you don't exhust yourselves in fancy assumptions. I said it 'RESEMBLES", mainly in looks. I could be referring to air intake of one, wing design of the other, or such PARTial comparisons to give an overall impressive of the aircraft. This aircraft has some very advance features (I would call it 5th Generation), and some parts that are 4th generation, and some parts that are very old and engineers are working on all of these parts to bring to the most current level of technology and to integrate all these cohesively and intelligently.

In particular, the 3-linear directional thrust is quite interesting and it was something that German engineers perfected in mid 1980's when they were considering such technology for their version of the Eurofighter 2000. The other technology that I believe is quite interesting is the computer integration, although this is not 5th generation, it is indeed advance enough (at least in my opinion) to cause concern for adversaries. Also, Iran's knowledge and experience in stealth (and believe it or not Iran does have quite a bit of knowledge and experience in this from the days of fooling Americans into thinking that Mig-25 was a threat) and this has been used quite extensively (surprisingly) in the design aspects of this project. This aircraft will have many composite materials incorporated in its design, it will be somewhat stealthy, will have BVR capability, and it is aimed that it will also have very excellent maitenance ratios. All of this is yet to be proven, so don't jump up and down your chair. It is a process of trial and error and a balance between US threats vs. perseverance of Iran's engineers/designers/funders and people.

Before you start getting into emotional reactions ("No Iran can't do it", "Yes Iran has built an aircraft the level of F/A22, F35", etc), please consider that Iran's aircraft (although it is actually 3 different modular designs) has only reached the basic level of prototype AT DESIGN STAGE, i.e. there is no one single actual-size aircraft yet. Only 3 smaller size (70ish%) prototypes exist, and a dozen even smaller (very small) Unmanned versions are used for testing, design improvements, etc.

This aircraft is quite an impressive endeavor by one of the Iranian 'character's and although Iran would need at least 5 more years to bring this into production of an actual size prototype, it is Iran's attempt to jump a few generations into the 4th and 4.5 generation aircraft development. In the next 10 years Iran will become a SWEDEN level aircraft designer and builder, although with more self-sufficiency than that of Sweden (Sweden purchases many of its parts from GE, Rolls Royce, etc.).

Iran also has many other projects that it is working on. As recently as 2003, it (politicians) has started to organize and 'respect' the military industry of Iran. More and more funding is being devoted to this and the industry is given more autonomy and more resources and priority. It is assumed that Iran needs a two pronged approach for self defence. This part (conventional airforce, army, and nave) had previously not received much priority - other than for maintenance and support. Now R+D is given a very high priority in the recent years.

Please read the above statements very carefully before you knock yourselves out with assumptions, exagerations and/or rebuttals.

Finally, I decided to make this post because I read all the postings in this thread. And tragically, I think people like to argue about things that simply only jackasses would argue about. Most of the accusations and simplifications can be addressed with a tiny little bit of research or a visit to a local library or a local bookstore, or just reading in the more correct and knowledgeable websites with professionals who know about these things and have been involved in Iran's aviation for 35+ years.

Regretably I am making this outburst to encourage you all to search within yourselves to bring out the very highest levels of intelect that I believe you all possess and you can also hold yourselves at the highest levels and encourage each other to be holden to the highest levels of knowledge, intelect, and correct analysation of facts and figures rather than emotion and frustration. Iranians are indeed some of the smartest people on earth. With a very small minority in both US and Europe, Iranians are one of the richest and most educated minorities. In Iran, the engineers have done so much with so little. So isn't about time that you all respect one another, work with each other, come together, accept each other over others (outsiders), and work to have your own mark on history? Isn't time that the only ancient superpower in history that grew by cooperation and collaboration with its neighbors (instead of concurring) now brings the same cooperation and collaboration to its own citizens for the welfare of its people and the future of its nation? Should Iranians continue to bicker and squabble over scraps while the superpowers divide and concur Iran and Iranians and their wealth? Do you wish to continue the outright rape of your natural resources - yes i mean continue ... the British raped Iran's resources for 68 years which paid for their kids free national health service and free college education and now Europe and Russia are selling the things Iran needs (in the Oil and Gas industry) six times the going price on the open market while buying Iranian oil (by Shell recently) 10$-15$ below price?

What would happen if 300,000 highly educated (many professors) in US and Europe went back to Iran, and the wealthy Iranians with assets close to 850$ Billion also returned to Iran?

These are questions that only Iranians can answer, and only one individual at a time.

Iran. The willing led by the unknowing doing the impossibe for the ungreatful.

The IRI is thought to be secretly preparing to launch a warp speed spacecraft (to be christened Ruhollah 1) at up to 10 times the speed of light that will run on dilithium crystals.

The spacecraft, manned by a highly trained crew of 8 bassijis, kitted out in their specially made space suit (with ammaameh and abaa on the outside), and a room specifically designated for daily rounds of namaaz, will explore the far regions of the Milky way galaxy.

So put THAT in your pipe and smoke it Mr NASA with your outdated and pathetic space shuttles.
