Humility

Very Nice

by Humility on

Many people know about our beloved Kouroush and Dariush (The First Iranshahr) - However, not much is discusssed in general, and information is not as available in particular, regarding the greatness of Persia under the Sassanian (The Second Iranshahr).

Thank You

A fantastic clip! I take back everything negative I've said about you -- well done! I wish more Iranians treasured their homegrown heros and their accomplishments instead of worshiping a bunch of Arab Imams.

I am hopeful, however, that in the future, our Persian past will achieve far greater significance in Iran. Thanks to the perverse results of the Islamic republic.

King James Bible; Daniel, (Related to the Persian kings)

by Seagull (not verified) on

Interestingly according to the Bible, God choose the Persians Kings for the throne

5:17 Then Daniel answered... I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

5:18 O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:  And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

5:20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: 5:21 And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

5:22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; 5:23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; ... 5:24 Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

5:25 And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

5:26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

5:27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

5:29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

5:30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

5:31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

among many Calls him Rex Sapuros Maximus(great) after witnessing Roman defeat in Amida(Diarbakr) against Sassanid Army then who the hell are we to argue . The lightness of Kiaan is too bright to be shaded by a few pigeons . Shahpour the Great son of Artashtir son of Papak it is and will be for eternity.

Many thanks mr Javid for the usage of factual title for great Shahpour .

Two Points

by Manoucher Avaznia on

1.  JJ jaan Shapur I has not been titled "the Great"; and please you refrain from bestowing that title to him.  In fact, none of Sasaanee kings has been titled "the great".

2.  This clip (when it comes to Karteer's role in making Zaraostrianism an official religion) and its suppression of other religious movements and thoughts (clearly as indicated as Manicians, Manavee, and Mazdakee which are supported by historic accounts) is a clear indication that Iranians' (if someone wishes to claim Iranians are equal to the Sasaanee ruling family and their ham-paalakees that I do not think they are) intolerance towards religions and thoughts other than their own.

This is only a tip of the iceberg of that glorious legacy so unfairly ignored by the global & native ignorants . Every aspect of Kianni heritage be it Shahpour , Artashtir , ...etc or Khosru parviz the victor who conquered Roman Jerusalem and brought the Holy Cross to Iran & later took over constantinopol  could be made in block buster movies of unparalleled imagery. I pity us indeed .

Thank you Mr Javid, great pick, hadn,t seen this one .

Cheers!!!

Thanks JJ for posting this.  This is what we Iranians should be proud of and not the head bashing barbaric activiies of Islam.
