Just last week the NIAC news email brought good tidings that some of the Persepolis tablets have been rescued, apparently through clever use of a legal technicality. Lawyers defending the tablets in Massachusetts successfully argued that the plaintiffs couldn’t prove that the items actually belong to the IRI. To get more detail on the temporarily good news I talked on the phone with NIAC president Trita Parsi. Given the current single-minded focus on pure self preservation for pure personal good, over the slightest self sacrifice for the slightest common good, it is unclear when or if Iranians will ever make a collective shift from the nightmare of this Groundhog's Day, and gain true freedom anytime soon. This might finally explain why "I will Survive" is the average Iranian's favorite song. I mean for God's sake, it has been playing in our heads for 2500 years now!>>>

Your Excellency, Dr. Shaheed, I will testify that during 1980s, how young prisoners and students including men and women, after being brutally tortured, were taken in groups of tens or hundreds every night to face the gallows. And down that road they went to face their destiny while chanting songs. I am prepared to cite the facts as witnessed by me in the prisons of the Islamic regime and stand by my words to pay the price for such testimony>>>

Recently, I attended a fundraising by International Society for Children with Cancer (ISCC) for MAHAK. I admit I didn’t know much about these organizations. I could blame such ignorance on a number of excuses, but my ultimate comfort came from the fact that it’s never too late. I have since learned that ISCC is an affiliate of MAHAK, one of the best children’s cancer centers in the Middle East that for years has offered free treatment to thousands of needy children>>>
