FOOD

Autumnal comforts

Salads are out, soups are in

14-Nov-2007 (13 comments)
Every autumn, I set myself a new task to learn how to make dishes, I was always too apprehensive or just too lazy to try and make. I always love making fresh homemade soups, they are so easy to make if you have a hand blender and so deliciously moreish too. They can be low in carbs, low in fat… Basically low in whatever you want them to be as YOU are controlling what you put in them! So much better than opening a can of soup and SO much fresher and more flavoursome. Once you start making your own soups, you will never go back to buying them again>>>

Life before and after

I told my brother in Iran I will bomb you all to see how it feels to mess with my country

14-Nov-2007 (13 comments)
On the morning of the Sept. 11 I was watching NBC news while putting my cloths on. You know that’s my habit of watching news while half naked, munching my breakfast, or shaving. The news anchor said that there is breaking news coming regarding an object that has hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I thought that it might be a small plane or something that has hit the building accidentally. So I went on my morning rituals, listening to the news in my car and at school via internet whenever I had a chance. When I heard again that another passenger plane has hit the second tower I went nuts>>>

An Iranian Baha'i's letter to President Ahmadinejad

13-Nov-2007 (148 comments)
Mr. President, as you well know, there are over 6.5 million Baha'i's in the world; more than Jews and Zorasterians combined. There is no one country that has a great majority of its population consisting of Baha'is. We reside in every country in every continent of this globe. In over 90% of non Islamic countries, the Bahai faith is recognized as a religion and the Baha'is of said countries enjoy the freedoms offered to all its citizen equally. Additionally, the United Nations recognizes the Baha'i' faith as a major religion>>>

دفاع شیرین خانم عبادی از پرونده قتل زهراها

13-Nov-2007 (25 comments)

HOMOSEXUALITY

When God & Darwin see eye to eye!

If indeed a gene was responsible for the behaviour it would have been eliminated by natural selection?

13-Nov-2007 (15 comments)
As the battle between proponents of intelligent design and evolution rages particularly in US there is something rather odd to make a note of. Considering homosexuality to be a deviation from what is normal and natural has made strange bedfellows form religious right and evolutionary scientists. The opposition to homosexuality in Koran for example could hardly be stronger considering the story of "Loot" society being destroyed by God because of their homosexual acts. >>>

IMPRESSION

Journey to Tehran

Iranians are strong-willed, dynamic, courteous... and fatalistic in a pessimistic way

12-Nov-2007 (90 comments)
Tehran greeted me on January 3rd, 2007 around 5 am at the Tehran International Airport Mehrabad where courteous but thorough officials waved me through immigration to The Islamic Republic of Iran. The legendary hospitality of the Orient was fully confirmed as a committee, dispatched by the Conference that I was to attend, sent at this inconvenient hour three members to greet me with a beautiful flower arrangement. I went to many Conferences in my lifetime but was never made to feel so welcome or special! This is what I call civilization at its best—especially when one realizes that I am the holder of an American passport that at the present time distinguished me as not an ideal guest.>>>

STOP

War against people

War between US and political Islam will hurt people in Iran most

12-Nov-2007 (30 comments)
The risk of a military attack against people in Iran is imminent. The US administration is adamant about an attack against Iran. The US government is trying to gain support of other states and the public opinion in the US for the attack. The French foreign minister has defended military attack against Iran. They claim war is inevitable if Islamic regime is to be prevented from producing nuclear weapons. On the other hand the Islamic regime is flaring up the fire of war. Both sides have escalated their war propaganda. Economic sanctions against Iran too are adding to the prospect of death and devastation.>>>

Excerpt from "A Path To Nowhere"

09-Nov-2007 (one comment)
I was spending my third night at the front line. I had already received a Klashinkov rifle with a magazine that could hold thirty cartridges and a few blankets to sleep in as Neekvarz had promised. That night it was cold and foggy. A storm was blowing from northwest raising sand and dust; making the air dark. Apprehensive about my sentries, I had visited all of them twice earlier at night either in Karamee‚s company or on my own. All of them were awake and vigilant; everything seemed normal except the storm that was lashing across the plain and the hill.>>>

OPPOSITION

Destroying Iran

Shortcomings of extremist secular nationalism

08-Nov-2007 (74 comments)
Today, a great many Iranian opposition blogs and websites trumpet the secular nationalist ideology as the flag of opposition to the current Islamist government of Iran. The pre-historic glory of Persepolis is the other component to the complex Persian/Islamic binary of modern Iran. In its extreme form, this ideology is harshly anti-Islamic, denouncing the current IRI servants of the Arabs who have forced the yoke of Islam upon the Persian masses who would yearn to cast off this alien ideology. Such rhetoric may serve well in riling up opposition to the current government, but it is grossly inaccurate in its analysis of Iranian society and politics>>>

EXTREMES

98% Muslim

PART 2 of "Where do we go from here?"

08-Nov-2007 (13 comments)
You and your generation have been living under the most brutal, savage and radical regime on the planet. For the past thirty years Islam have been forced on you from the barrel of a gun and more importantly you have been bombarded with their propaganda day in day out, and forced to learn their ideology at school. However I am yet to find a faithful Muslim among you. If what your claim about Islam being forced on our ancestors is right then you all should have become good little Muslims as well. But we can all see, this enforcement and brutality have not only did not win you over but it also had an opposite effect on you. >>>

AUTHOR

The Reader Within Me

Captive to the cart of my memories

07-Nov-2007 (3 comments)
In the triangle of author, text, and reader, the reader has a divine power. If one does not pick up the text, nothing comes alive and the author remains trapped in the lifeless letters of the text. Moreover, the reader's role does not begin when a text is finished. As soon as authors pick up pens, they have their readers in mind, and the image of the reader never vanishes during the writing process. Every author has a reader within who not only knows the art of listening, but also speaks and, like a child's imaginary playmate, sometimes even has a name>>>
