An appreciation

by Manoucher Avaznia on

Abarmard Jaan;

You are right.  In essense, when I compare my present state of lack of identity, belonging to nowhere, and being regarded nobody in the West but a tool of work, with the horrific aftermath of 1953 coupe suppression of freedoms; that was a Western product anyway, I feel perhaps those who suffered including Shamloo, to whom the poem was dedicated, at least felt to be someone against whom the Pahlavi Regime and its supporters mobilized their whole wrath and vengeance.  Somehow, I look at my verse to be a remedy to my state than anything else: like the "may" that "Tarsaa'ye Peer'e Peerhan Cherkeen" denies to Akhavaan.  So far, at least, that has been the refuge that I have sought in verse.  If you live in Ottawa in winter time, perhaps, you would rather to have that "Seely" than this "Sarmaa".  My main concern about this vesrse is that I very much hope I have not devaluated the status of Akhavaan's masterpiece with this worthless verse.

 I geniunely appreciate your attention and look forward to read more of what that "madomak'e nokteh-sanj" can appreciate and I am unaware of.  Please, share more of these subtle points with me.

With regards;

Did you know

That the Winter of Akhavan is actually the State of dictatorship being described? So in that case, are you really missing "Silliy e Zemestaan"?
