The American Taliban is a reference to American Christian fundamentalists that inflict their religious views on others through government decree, in the same way that the Taliban government in Afghanistan operated in the form of a repressive theocracy. The American Taliban put the Mullahs in Iran to shame. In fact, ironically, the Mullahs in Iran would humor the Taliban in Afghanistan as being too fanatic.

But they exist. And they exist inside the Republican Party. Oh, Mitt Romney might seem moderate; but in fact the Republican Party is now totally infused by the American Taliban.  You don’t believe me, just judge for yourself. These folks are all staunch Republicans …. Mitt Romney Supporters. These people hate Iranians, hate Muslims, hate immigrants, and Mitt Romney pandered to them all through out the primaries; and if he gets elected he will support them and reinforce them - he has to. So forget about Mitt Romney, look at the people he has to pander to....read what they say. These are the American Taliban....
