BBC: The younger son of the Shah of Iran, Prince Alireza Pahlavi, has killed himself in the US after a long battle with depression, his brother says. Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi said family and friends had been plunged into "great sorrow" at news of the death. "It is with immense grief that we would like to inform our compatriots of the passing away of Prince Alireza Pahlavi," he said in a statement. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was ousted in Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution. See related blog

How dreadful!
by Princess on Tue Jan 04, 2011 02:54 PM PSTAnother unbearable tragedy for the Pahlavi family. My heart goes out to them. In particular, may Farah Phalavi have the strength to cope with this unspeakable loss.
May his soul rest in peace!
PS: Ms MZK, as much as I might understand your rage at those who caused your own family sufferings, I find your comment here rather distasteful. This is another inncent life lost. May I remind you, your hatred is not going to make this world a better place.
Sometimes I wonder if
by statira on Tue Jan 04, 2011 02:37 PM PSTthere is any God. Why all the bad things happen to good people? Why Iranians are so unfortunate? Why we dont hear this type of bad news about murderous mullahs?
God bless his soul

Bandeh Marjaneh Zahed-Khorassani-Hakimi-Kindersley-Viscountess N
by Marjan Zahed Kindersley on Tue Jan 04, 2011 01:22 PM PSTViscountess Nottingham hastam and I can't be bothered to list my other titles and names, va behetoon taslihat nemigam.
I feel sorry for your son, during his life, not his death. But I have NO , NONE, aBSOLTUELY NO condolences and words to comfort you, your fake Majesty.
It neither grieves me nor enjoys me to read this news. BUT , may this be YET ANOTHER experience for you. Well, some people are just incredibly dumb , oui, incroyable mais vrai! , that they have to experience grief and loss and are still too dumb to get it, to imagine it for other people.
Under your rule. Your DICTATORSHIP and absolute TYRANNY and not that just of poverty, but your dictatorship of the most vile nouveaux pillaging kleptocracy.
Your blinding rule, whilst you were prancing around galleries pretenting to be able to speak French, when my late father used to say: in zane ablah, soorakho mige soolakh", my late father in his youth, worked for dastgahe dolat in his twenties, as a product of a long-ruling whatever they call it these days. Of course, he was brilliant, until, whilst building roads, he stumbled on over 3 thousand year old artifacts, that those workers who trusted him had reported to him. What happened?
Within hours, guards were murdered, your set was set up and ALL artifacts were sold off in Tokyo later.
Not enough? Your SAVAK followed my late father out of windows and even later in years, he had to flee the country every now and then, for not being a kesafat and have his own property stolen.
Your lot killed many of my father's friends. AT THE AGE OF SIXTEEN!
AND HE HELPED YOUR VERY FEW FRIENDS, BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE REVOLUTION.
His criteria?
Justice. Humanity.
WHERE WAS YOURS?
Again, for once. For once, try, just try to feel for the many lives, YOU, in particular have absolutely ruined. OR JUST OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES.
May your daughter's and your son's lives be a lesson to your ignorance.
If you are mentally ill with a medical lack of mirror-neurons, then that is a different matter.
I have now wasted enough time on this. May I never be reminded of your ugly selfish, primitive self again. EVER in my own life time.
God bless his soul

A poem for Alireaza
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Jan 04, 2011 01:17 PM PSTGuys, Shahi or anti-shahi, this is just a poem I wrote upon reading news of Alireza's death. It is about how he might have been feeling and his thoughts close to his death. This is just my impression of what he might have thought, and reality obviously might have been different.
We Did it Our Way
If death comes to take me away
Or I kiss the angel of death today
Don't cry for me my beloved land
For I have cried enough for both of us
For a land almost destroyed
For a family forever scorned
And all I wanted to say
was that we did it our way
It's tragic
by Azadeh Azad on Tue Jan 04, 2011 01:14 PM PSTMy condolences to the Pahlavi family & friends.
