Lovely! A very interesting and different videoclip, touching music in simple, yet daring shooting environment. Info on YouTube: "AriaNaz is the first video from Iranian singer-song-writer and setar player Fared Shafinury. Shafinury is a Texas born & raised Iranian-American musician based in Tehran. He blends classical Persian musical techniques with indie rock sensibilities. The music video was shot by only using the video function on a digital photographic camera." His MySpace page:  myspace.com/FaredShafinury

Arianaz - totally different genre

by Erfanistan on

Hey P, I wanted to point out that Fared and Namjoo are very different, and I like them both very much within their own contexts.  However, I have to also say that Fared's setar playing is technically superior and far more interesting then Namjoo's setar playing, also his song writing is very fresh and new to Iranian music.

unique!

This guy does not sound like Namjoo. He apparently has a completely different story then Namjoo does. He comes from a different part of the world, telling a different story. I don't get a sense of Nostalgia from his work either, but I do get a breath of fresh air. They have 2 distinct styles in playing the setar, and vocally they don't sound similar what so ever. I think He has his own style for sure.

You guys can find more of his music at his myspace page: www.myspace.com/faredshafinury

CD COMING SOON!
His CD is being completed by December 23 and coming out very soon after that! Apparently, there will be quite a few music videos before then...
Who knew Texas and Tehran could be such a good combination...

You should hear his other songs ... I've heard him live in Tehran at the amphitheater @ Jamshidieh Park and he is stunning.

The video is also great as it sets the moooood: Relaxing and innovative music being played in a chaotic environment.
